Who is more instrumental in building the Bills?
Bob in STL replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Can Daboll be Fat Clemenza? -
Nix was not the right guy for the GM position. He was not at all strategic. His coaching and personnel moves were wonton - out of synch. There was never a clear plan with him or Whaley. Nix knew the game, was a great scout, etc. But he never should have been “the guy” to run the show. Wilson knew him, and he needed someone in there that he knew. Brandon Beane’s advantages come from his intelligence, his strategic vision, and his ability to create a culture of success. He leads and builds confidence at all levels of the organization. He is not the Scout that Nix was, but he knows how to take the information provided from guys like Nix and make better decisions with that information.

I can see that 17 straight years of losing (playoff droughts) has created a generation of Bills fans that are experiencing winning for the first time. The number of threads and questions on big wins, significant wins, signature wins, prime time wins, statement wins are growing - its important to beat good teams but this is mostly media stuff. For winning teams every W is important, and the only W you focus on is the next one, never the last one. The next game is the journey. Beating the Steelers Sunday will feel good and be a big story, and we will be very happy and feel good. It will be something to build on. But the next day a road win in Denver will become bigger to a team with higher aspirations, like getting the highest seed possible. Expectations of winning every game in the regular season must become the mindset for a successful team. If not you run the risk of beating KC one week and then losing to the Jets the next. You score that 1-1 either way. Winning in the playoffs is truly significant because when you don’t you go home.

Dawson Knox - First ever TE option pass for TD
Bob in STL replied to BringBackFergy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I see a Statue of Liberty play coming up. Allen stands in the pocket arm cocked to throw deep. Taiwan Jones comes in and does a reverse, he takes the ball and runs around the end untouched. No one knows he is on the team, it will be his first offensive play. I hear Mitch Morse is working with Allen on the center sneak too. -
Bills sign Brandon Beane to contract extension!!!

They lost last year after taking a 16-0 lead. This year is all about - Win division, play a home playoff game and win it. It is achievable. Now is not the time to lower expectations. -
Harrison Phillips Nominated For NFL Man Of The Year
Bob in STL replied to Like A Mofo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nice article. Growing up on the West Side, I spent a lot of time at the Butler Mitchel back in the 60’s. Great to see it’s still there, functioning, and the Bills still go there to support the community - as they did in the 60’s. -
Harrison Phillips Nominated For NFL Man Of The Year

Congrats to Harrison. I am pulling for him to regain his form. Never underestimate a real competitor. -
You are taking this way too far. The Pats* are not in the basement, the draft comments are inaccurate, and they still have a top coaching staff. They need a QB and a few weapons on offense and then they are a wildcard contender again. I loathe them as much as anyone, but I am cautious that their decline might not be as pronounced and as epic as that of the Buffalo/ Cleveland teams. I want them to suck for decades too but any conclusion other than this is a bad year for them, and they need a qb are off the mark.

Bills sign Brandon Beane to contract extension!!!

You sure covered every possible reason that he is not perfect. The point differential argument is not relevant. They made it based on well established playoff guidelines and deserve credit. $50M for Star was too much, but we have missed him this year for sure. He is a player that does not make the stat sheet but makes everyone else better. Metcalf - 8 wr’s were drafted ahead of Metcalf. All the GMs missed on him, even the guy who drafted him waited until his 3rd selection ( his 2nd pick in R2j. I have not seen seen a reason to love Ford either but will give him time. Wood/Glenn/Incognito were all good but the right side was not and the depth was 0. Glenn could not stay healthy and was known to be lazy. Ritchie is his own story and he was mentally breaking down (Jags playoff game). Wood was unfortunate with his injury. They kept him for his play and leadership. Not a bad move but it backfired. I don’t think they have reached their peak at all. Most all of the drafted players have more upside. We are still in good shape relative to cap with many easy to shed contracts if necessary. Beane has done a fine job, not perfect, but he sits at the helm of a team on the rise and deserves the contract. -
Week 14 Expert Picks...Many picking the Bills
Bob in STL replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We Bills fans prefer to fly under they radar but who they all pick matters not. We need another strong game from Allen and we need the defense to continue to improve as they have been. -
Could John Brown be Released Next Off-Season?

Anything can happen .... I trust Beane and McD too make the best decisions for the team ... and not to make them until they have to. -

Week 14: Steelers at Bills on SNF
Bob in STL replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Damm. Josh was in a zone, standing up front and listening to Kyle and understanding the depth of every word. Most importantly, taking it and putting it into action. I’m betting he learned how to learn on that farm as a kid. -

Lee Smith was WIDE open on Allen's dart to Davis

Lee Smith. You can only hope to contain him. Daboll might try that one again and make TE the primary. -
Josh Allen named AFC Offensive Player of the Week

... “Oh no, the Jets moved ahead of us, we like Baker better, we drafted the wrong Josh, we should have traded back and took Lamar” ... Where are they now? -

Exactly. The Steelers will not think about Washington on Sunday night.
