  1. I not suggesting anyone overreact because if one game. People here want to cut Singletary for dropping a pass. Just pointing out the possibility that Williams could leave for more money, Morse could be cut to save money, and based on those circumstances Beane could decide to draft a tackle or a guard/center, especially if he thinks they can start right away. Not popular but not an impossible scenario. I get that you put low value on OL, especially the interior positions, but your only as strong as the weakest link.
  2. I did not see the Chief interior OL dominate anything. Other than one end-around play we held their ground game in check. The Chief are very lucky if their Interior OL, being made up of that, is actually that good rather than simply low cost and functional. Reid has had 8 years to find that line too. Beane is on year 4. What I did see was the Chiefs interior DL’s completely dominate our interior OL (Made up of a UDFA (Boettger), #2 (Morse), and Feliciano (#4), making me think all of these guys can be upgraded. If Williams is not retained then drafting an OT is not out of the questioning and is probably very likely. If Morse is not retained we have to retain Feliciano. That leaves Ford at either RT (underwhelming in past) or at Guard. Is Boettger-Feliciano-Ford any better than Ford-Morse-Feliciano? Who replaces Williams? Nyshke? Bates? No one thinks that OL is sexy just don’t be surprised if they to spend a 1 or a 2 on OL if 5hey plan to get any immediate help from the draft. UDFAs and late round picks are usually 2-3 year projects, and yes, they will also try to go that route but not for immediate help. They had UDFA Trey Adams on the PS all year but I seriously doubt they will bank in him stepping into the starting RT spot or even to make the team as back-up swing tackle.
  3. Nonsense. Interior line players are valuable too. We have looked for good OG’s and a good RT for long time. We finally found one with Williams at RT. The “relatively easy” part is just not true. The biggest needs are DL, OL and CB. If Williams leaves and Morse gets released we are in trouble on the OL and we will have to rely on Ford.
  4. Our premium picks in this draft will likely be in these positions - OL, DL, CB, LB. We could Ben scrambling to backfill Milano and Williams. At WR are going to continue to develop Davis, and Hogkins, and maybe draft another prospect in the mid to late rounds. We will look at Stills and other vets as well but I see no big investments in WR. I could get behind drafting a TE that is a legit pass catching threat is possible.
  5. Agree. You don’t cut a 2 year player with a favorable contract until you have a better player in place. OK, the guy dropped a pass and it hurt us. Beane told us the running game needs fixing but to point directly and only at the running backs would be a mistake. Blocking, scheme and formations, and commitment all are involved.
  6. I think he might try to make a Diggs-like move to improve the DL with an impact player that can step in now. Most all teams will have cap issues so trades might be possible. I think he wants near term help at OG and CB from this draft. He has to sign Allen and figure out Milano and Williams. If he thinks he can pull some immediate help from the draft he just might trade down.
  7. It’s won’t be a sexy pick but do not be surprised to see the Bills select OG with their first pick. You can get one of the best guards in the draft at 30, one that is equally capable at both pass and run blocking, and plug him in right away. With the current cap situation Morse could be gone, although they will have to carry dead money instead of just keeping a pretty solid player. Mongo could rotate to C, a better run blocker but less capable pass blocker. Boetger is a solid backup IMO. The key is Ford. Is he going to stay healthy and become the player they thought he was? Williams at RT really needs to be retained, adding to the stress of the situation. Maybe there are other Guards that they like at pick 62, and they can go either DL or CB at 30, but I can see the OL addressed in one of the first 2 picks.
  8. Agree. Definitely can find a Guard at 30 that could be a dominant player. Maybe a strong talented gaurd, with Feliciano at Center, and a healthy, improved Ford at the other guard - maybe that and more commitment could break open the running game? If they are thinking BPA adding a corner is another possibility. Would love to strengthen the DL but the premium on DL, especially pass rushers, tells me better value might be at these other positions. RB can be addressed in later picks and in free agency. I would love to see them add a back that could catch, and run after catch.
  9. “you have to knock out the champ”? I saw Frazier beat Ali by decision. Then Ali beat Frazier by decision. Third time Frazier’s manager would not let him go out, and Ali later said he almost died that night. There really were no knockouts. Whaley is a dunce. He was terrible.
  10. ^ Probably will be long gone. “Fixing” the running game may have more to do with a stud OG than spending pick 30 on a RB. At pick 30 he will likely find a solid starter that is ready to play soon than an impact player. At least based on my definition of an impact player. You never know.
  11. I can’t argue with Simms. Acquiring the stud DL will be the hardest part. A better #2CB can be drafted this year. So can a better OG. Improving WR can also be addressed this year. Let’s all remember that Andy Reid has been with KC 8 years. Beane has had 3 drafts so far.
  12. I disagree that we got little return from all those players. Other “experts” say he built us up fast in part because of Beane’s staffs pro scouting ability. I can think of many positive contributions by Addison, Klein, Norman and Mantekevich that helped us go 15-4. Big plays numerous times by each of them. Listen to Beane’s interview. He talks about the cap value changing after Covid, making every GMs job harder today. He talks about letting Jordan Phillips walk because they had Star, only to lose Star to Covid opt out. Phillips would have been retained with your 20-20 hindsight. He also indicated everything starts with the DL. It easy to criticize moves after the fact but you do not know the intrinsic value these players bring to the team and the locker room. You don’t have the film or the playbook either. No one hits every draft pick, every free agent, and every move. I think we are in good hands with Beane. He is not perfect, just very dam good.
  13. First step is determining what UFAs we keep, then what UFAs we sign (March 17). Would like to see a Diggs-like free agent pick up. Maybe at RB? Then draft on April29. BPA in rounds 1 and 2. We really need to draft an impact player on defense.
  14. Diggs was doubled all game because Brown/Davis were no threat. If you can double Diggs and blitz nearly every play you will have a good chance of playing 2019 Allen, not 2020 Allen. Beasley made plays but he is not enough to overcome the lack of plays from Brown/Davis. Too many 4 wr sets with ineffective Brown/Davis. Good to see Knox make some plays. In a game like this, more TE and RB passes would have saved Allen, if he is willing to be patient. Running the ball is a mindset. A better back is only part of it. We need to look at the OL too. Are our linemen better pass blockers versus run blockers? Do we need more balance in OL skills? You want to get closer to KC? Find a RB like Thurman, a dual threat.
  15. We were down by 9 several times because we settled for 3 point twice when deep in the red zone and also missed a PAT. That is 9. We were still in the game deep into the 3Q but KC’s defense made everything hard by double coverage on Diggs and still able to blitz Allen. They kept him off balance, force bad throws, and got 4 sacks for -55. Beasley and Knox were good but the contributions by Singletary (drop to kill drive) and Brown (drop for interception) were negative. Davis is hurt and should not have played over McKenzie or maybe even Stills. The bigger problem was the defense giving up big plays all day with no pressure on Mahommes, and no answer for Kelce. It’s baffling that they did not take away either Hill or Kelce. KC punted once and that was in 1Q. The defense had its worst game of the season. It’s hard to even tell what their plan was it was that bad. Not a good day for a conservative offensive approach either. The Bills took a giant step this year but are clearly #2 in the AFC with Baltimore, Cleveland, Tennessee, Indy and Miami all on their heels. Beane needs to find a running back to help Allen, more speed in the lineup, and a playmaker in the defensive front 7.
  16. Vermeil? He actually was a ST coach before a head coach. Mike Martz was the OC genius of the Stl Rams.
  17. Yeldon looked better than Singletary. Not that he is the answer but Singletary is not. He lacks power and does not hit the hole hard enough, he has no burst and his hands are not great. Another factor is our tackles are excellent pass blockers but maybe not so much on run blocking. Our pass protection was great for the past 8 weeks but not today. Other teams blitzed us and had little success. KC just had a good game for sure.
  18. Great season and all goals met. Won division. Won home playoff game. Actually won 2 home playoff games. In any other season if you get a bye and win 2 playoff games you go to the SB. So, I’m not much moral victories but this team improved a lot. KC beat us cleanly. They had a Better game plan and better execution. That does not mean we cannot beat them next year. The Bill need some help in a few areas. Beane will know what to do.
  19. The FGs were disappointing for sure but I think the one at the end of the half was needed just based on how poorly the clock management was and how confused we were with their defense. We could not go into the half with nothing else on the board and we had the half to regroup. That 3rd and goal pass to Knox at the 2 yard line was a terrible call and screamed “we can’t figure this out”. Why not have Allen roll out with the option to run? The FG in the second quarter really surprised me. That was the call that baffled me. Add in the lost 8 point plus the missed PAT and we get 33 points on the road. Still needed better defense to win and we didn’t have it. The defense was abysmal. No answer for Kelce, poor play against the run, and little pressure on Mahommes.
  20. Well they didn’t. Which is even more reason why KC deserves it. We do you need the Browns to beat KC if we can’t - the Browns played the tougher than we did. Think about that. Geesshhh.
  21. Brown is actually one of the fastest players on the team. Davis is not even close in speed. Brown he may be gone because of salary and injuries, but he brings speed and experience that will need to be replaced.
  22. Pre game hype. I’ve been avoiding it. This is huge. Please Bills - Do It For Our City.
  23. I am nervous as always. I guess that’s good. I think we can do this. KC has edge for being home but we are the hotter team. As I always say, we need Allen to play at a high level and stay cool, calm and patient. Take what they give us. Hoping we can muster up a run game too. On defense on like the continuous improvement, contain Mahommes like last game but this time tackle better, stay in lanes and stop the run. Team defense. Need strong special teams and innovative coaching versus Reid. Which Bills makes the big plays? We can win.
