Ike Boettger - went undrafted
Bob in STL replied to dave mcbride's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Like most UDFAs, he is a backup player or spot starter. There are reasons we can’t run the ball well and he is one of them. -
True. Although his pass protection was only bad one game, otherwise he was effective. Unfortunately it was the biggest game and he had to take on the 2nd best DT in the NFL. We ran better when he was at center. He is a great teammate that is driven. Release Morse, put some of the savings on Feliciano. He is not a player that breaks the bank but you get everything he has.
-
Yes and hopefully he can play like Kyle soon.
-
Maybe so. Buffalo at least has to be worth a listen for him.
-
Contender yes. Buffalo will probably talk to him if he is interested. Starting is not important. He is now a situational player that would benefit from rotation. It will prolong his career. He is a veteran and he knows that.

Mcshay Mock has Najee Harris to Buffalo

It depends on who the sign in free agency. I can see several veteran players released to add cap money for a proven Edge rusher. I doubt we can draft one at 30 that can make a big impact right away and we are ready to win now. Of we lose Milano (LB) or Williams (RT) then they could pick his replacement with this pick as well. -
Agree we need better guards. I want to move Feliciano to center using some of the money saved by letting Morse go. Recall when Morse was declared healthy from concussion. McD opted to keep Feliciano at center another week. We ran better with Feliciano at center. Upgrading guard is still a must if we want to run better, but keep a quality guy like Feliciano if you get an affordable deal. He is a Buffalo Bill and will play hard for this team.

Bills TE Lee Smith is contemplating retirement
Bob in STL replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Mentorship is real and it’s effective. If your trying to say Allen can move on from the relationship with Smith? Yes, Allen is now the team leader. I was only pointing out the Smith helped him out when he was “the kid”. Alien has acknowledged it before. -

Well I hope your correct. Seems to be a lot of QB movement this off season and Billy B is always a threat until he retires. -
He played well once he started to get some series off in favor of Norman. I think we should upgrade him, but keep him as #3CB. They both did better splitting the job than either did playing full time. Overall he did better than Norman (although Norman made a few real big plays). Dane will get a bigger shot next year as well.

Correct. He will be missed by Allen. He really watched over him from a mentorship perspective. -
OPINION: Mitch Trubisky should be Bills' backup quarterback

Out of how many? I do think we iAllen went down for 6-8 games and a backup gets you 4-5 wins he did good. Not sure Barclay can do that. -

Replacing Williams with Ford at RT is a step down. Unless Ford develops better tackle mobility and stays healthy- two things he has yet to do. Replacing Milano with a rookie could also be a step down. I hope at least one of Williams or Milano can be retained. -
On offense KC has Mahommes and two Pro Bowl impact players in Kelce and Hill. After that they have a bunch of solid contributors. Buffalo has Allen and one Pro Bowl impact player in Diggs. After that we have a bunch of solid contributors (Beasley, Brown, Knox and Davis). Finding a big impact TE like Kelce is probably harder than finding an impact RB. If we had one back that did it all like Thurman did - run (speed and power), catch (great hands and YAC), and block (blitz pick up) I think opposing teams will have much more trouble matching up. Being able to run and pass with the same personnel on the field helps the offense. I don’t know if Harris is that guy and if he is there at 30 there might even be DL, OL, LB, and CB’s that grade higher. Beane said with the cap situation he needs a good draft. I took that to mean get some players to help right now. So much depends on who we can sign - will we re-sign Williams, Milano, Feliciano? If not we have 3 starters to replace. Will we dump salaries (Morse, Brown, Addison, Murphy, Jefferson, Butler)? If we do there are a few more starters to replace. I think the draft will be hard to predict until some of the cap and free agency questions are answered. Beane is going to have to earn his pay to make the roster better next year. Plus, he needs guys like Ford, Knox and Epenesa to all improve and be more consistent.
