Who sees Green Bay trading up with us in the draft?
Bob in STL replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I might agree with the trade down, but not in the scenario you made. If either Akoye or Peterson are there at #12 we take them of them. Case closed. If not, maybe we trade back and hope for Willis or a CB. -
My own mock draft- I did this myself, and nobody helped me!!
Bob in STL replied to Adam's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We just gave a team record contract to Dockery, a guard. We signed Langston to a $25M, 5 year deal, he can play tackle and also play guard. We signed Jason Whittle and he too plays guard. We have Duke Preston and Aaron Merz on the roster, both play guard. They are also considering moving Butler, a tackle last year, to guard. I have seen stranger things but I doubt they will draft a guard with the first pick. -
T. Smith is available now, our next FB?
Bob in STL replied to cash2cap's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No. Fairchild will not bring the Rams offense here. That offense belongs to Martz. Fairchild likes to run and will run. Since we play outdoors in the AFC East that is a good thing. -

Agreed. Much better in fact. -
Do we need to draft a Tight End?
Bob in STL replied to Blue Chipper's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Please. One play did not cost us that game. Yes, he failed to make the big play, and yes, it was not a very difficult play, but come on. Royal had many more positives that should be considered. He was a strong blocker, a locker room leader, and the best receiving TE we have had since Jay Riemersma. -
My name is Bob. I am from Buffalo. I live in St. Louis .. that is in Missouri you know? I still love Buffalo and I watched Rocket Ship 7 with Promo the Robot and Dave Thomas all of the time.

Moulds would like to come back
Bob in STL replied to MadBuffaloDisease's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
First of all I don't believe this rumor. Moulds did not like playing with JP and the Bills are not a contender for the SB. If it is true I would say no way. He is not the Eric Moulds we want to remember. He had poor chemistry with JP and would I could not see him being the type of leader we need ... what has changed? I will always remember him quiting on us in Miami, he was upset that JP hit Evans for those TD's and he was in the "decoy" role. -
Taking the optimists down a notch.
Bob in STL replied to daquix's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This years team has more players with a known good upside than last years team. I can base this on the 06 performance of Losman, Peters, Pennington, Evans, Williams, Ellison, Simpson, and Whitner. The easiest player to replace will be McGahee and we will do that with a draft choice. Let's see if we can get 990 yards and 5 TDs from a rookie. I say we can. We can replace replace Fletcher with Crowell or maybe a draft choice. Clements will be the hardest to replace but at least we have Youbooty on the roster with some limited experience. Dockery and Langston are gonna help this team a lot. We have several holes and another strong draft will be required. Other factors that will help are the attitude, conditioning, and coaching. All are better than in the past. -
If Peterson is sitting there at 12 then I think we pull the trigger on him. While all the draft gurus will aplaud Marv for the "value" of the pick but I am not sure his style is going to cut it in the NFL for very long. I would prefer Willis, or Okoye/Branch at 12 and then address RB with a later day one pick. Willis will probably be there at 12 and would be good value AND fill a need. A trade down is a good possibility this year, assuming someone wants to move up to our slot.

Taking the optimists down a notch.
Bob in STL replied to daquix's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What will matter is how good our selections turn out to be. Like last year, we need to find a few rookies who can contribute now. What the other teams do is out of our hands. I think that Marv and Co are doing a good job of re-tooling this team. It will take 3 off-seasons and 3 drafts to do so. -
I saw Ernie play for the Chargers and then I think he ended his career with the Chiefs(?) for one year. I saw him as a professional wrestler in the Aud and on "Championship Wrestling" TV show. He wrestled Dominic DeNucci for the championship belt and lost. He then proclaimed himself the "King of Wrestling" and wore a crown and a robe on the next Saturday telecast. What great fun! The Big Cat was awesome.

Who is the best bill you ever met?
Bob in STL replied to Yasin's BILLS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bills I can recall meeting are Jack Kemp, Ernie Warlick, Paul McGuire, Al BeMiller, Joe O'Donnell, Billy Shaw, Juice, Bobby Chandler, Tony Greene, Jim Kelly, Kent Hull, Carleton Baily, Andre Reed, Bruce Smith, Phil Hansen, and John Butler. I meet Billy Shaw at the Hall of Fame the year that Jim Kelly got in. He was a great guy to talk to. John Butler was awesome. He spent about 30 minutes talking football with me while outside of "Pilot Field" before a Bisons game one July afternoon. Reed was super nice to my kids. Hansen was very kind. Bruce was a bit aloof. Chandler and Greene were quiet gentlemen that used to come into the Boardwalk Cafe (Delaware and Great Arrow) for dinner a lot. I was a busboy there and got to take care of their table a lot. Few players today conduct themselves like they did. Class acts all the way. -
Least favorite Bill of all time
Bob in STL replied to Mile High's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Review your Bills history please. Unfortunately, we have had many worst first round picks than JD Williams. For example, Walt Patulski was the first pick in the entire draft. Did you ever hear of Phil Dokes? Booker Moore? JD was a good guy. His problem was he could not see. He was excellent on special teams, he was a good cover guy, he just could not see the ball. Most "experts" liked the drafting of JD. This was a case of the Bills, and many others, not knowing about his condition and not doing their homework. As a person JD was a good team player. I agree that he did not pan out as a first rounder, but they are many worse picks than he. -
I have been reading and lurking for years. I don't post a lot though. There sure are a lot of excitable newbies lately.

Least = Tom Cousineau, Ronnie Harmon, Willis McGahee Most = Billy Shaw, Bobby Chandler, Steve Tasker, many others -
That is a good and simple strategy. then we can listen to the experts say we "reached" for who ever it is that we pick. Actually, this could be a great time to trade down, assuming we find a suitable trade.

"THIS TEAM will will win nore more than 6" OK Junior. Leave Daddy's computer alone and go to sleep. It is getting late.

Well lets see. We did not create the hole at RB. We proactively adjusted to the situation. Willis was not going to play for us. We had no choice but get rid of him. He does not want to be a Buffalo Bill. I am please to get the picks we did. We have 4 day one draft picks and i think we will adress CB, LB, and RB at a minimum. DT - we need some help but lets not forget that McCargo, Williams, and Tripplett will be back. Still an area of need but we have a first rounder here already in McCargo. Hopefully he develops next season. CB - We will address this in the draft and probably in free agency. One can hope that Youbouty develops. WR - We could use a better #2 but we are probably ok for now. LB - Definitely need to address this in the draft. QB - We are set with Losman. I expect that he will get even better with the OL improvements. RB - Expect that we draft a RB on day one of the draft and that we sign A-train or another free agent. Sound like we will play 2 running backs ... like most teams.

What's the first Super Bowl you REALLY watched?
Bob in STL replied to smokinandjokin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I saw Super Bowl I and I pulled for the Chiefs because of the AFL tie. The game was refered to as the NFL-AFL Championship Game and it was shown on two television networks. I recall watching it on the AFL channel with Curt Gowdy doing the game. I think Lamar Hunt called it the "Super Bowl" back then but that name did not really catch on until SB III. -
Bill Joel and the National Anthem
Bob in STL replied to ThreeBillsDrive's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It was kind of, unfortunately, she sang it in the studio and lip synched it live. -
I can't say I completely agree. I think we have to improve our ability to run and stop the run. We need to make a splash in free aganecy and get a help at DT and at OG. After that a LB to replace Fletcher would be very nice. If we lose Clements then a CB is needed. Lower Tier FA help should be looked at for FB. Obviously we cannot and will not get a top free agent player in all postions so that is where the draft will come in to supplement. It best to draft by talent and not solely by position. The more we can fill needs with free agancy the better I will feel about the draft.

The Jets better beat the Dolphins

??? tards? Check the stats and you will find that the defense has improve quite a bit from last year. Still a ways to go but on the right track. I don't think they choked. They played hard and had a shot to win it. The Titans made some big plays, the Bills needed to make few more plays but did not do it.

A Few Thoughts About The Game And The Bills
Bob in STL replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
1). Reed was a good signing by Marv. 2). JP made great strides this season and hopefully he is competitive next week against a great defense. 3). Peters is good and we can build around him. 4). ? The Titans are up and coming imo. 5). Fowler is ok, not a stud. 6). All linemen get caught holding. Gandy looks like a decent starting gaurd and an excellent reserve for OT/OG. In think we should re-sign him. 7). ok 8). Triplett is ok, more of a pass rusher. We need help at DT. 9). defense is played as a team game. 10). agreed 11). true. 12). thanks, same to you.
