A Few Thoughts About the Ravens Game, in no particular order
Bob in STL replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
I said Knox had to adjust. I did not say he adjusted. The tip threw him off. It was a great play by the defender to pick up the ball in mid air and make the catch. Ravens players made two nice plays and got the pick. Most turnovers have some element of luck. -
A Few Thoughts About the Ravens Game, in no particular order

The first INT was tipped. Knox had to adjust and missed the catch and then the DB intercepted. You can blame Knox but I wouldn't. The Ravens made two great plays. Lamar was ruled short of the first down, the replay could not dispute the call on the field -it was close. Plays like this happen every game. Knox and Davis are banged up. Knox made a few big plays. Settle and Jones have been excellent and really help to keep blockers off of Milano and Edmund (like Star was supposed to do). Jones has been a steady stud that shows up every game. We are not going to make every play, every time. Especially short yardage defense against Lamar. The run play calling was NOT terrible. The run blocking was indeed terrible and the runners were getting hit two yards deep in the backfield. Like last year, we have mediocre interior OL that gets no push. Other teams actually have some good players and we are not going to win every game 41-7. Our TD on the opening drive streak ended. It could not last forever. Cook is a mystery. He better work harder than he does. Edmund was excellent again. Punch him in the face at your own risk. Sounds like you did not really enjoy being at the game and watching a come from behind win, in adverse conditions, on the road. It is all about the W. -
When we play Miami in December we will provide heaters on their sideline because we will use them too. We will not cheat during the game. We will beat the hell out of them on the field. We should turn the furnace off in their locker room to start the third quarter, let the room get cold. In addition, turn off the hot water heater to their showers too. None of this affects the game.

Worried about Cook……is it too early?
Bob in STL replied to streetkings01's topic in The Stadium Wall
I hope this is sarcasm ^ I don't like Moss as a runner but he can at least block someone on a pass play and pick up blitzes. Cook is clearly not trusted. -
Cook better start learning his RB position first and take advantage of opportunities. There is a reason the coaches are not playing him. With McDermott you have to earn it in practice.

I don't like seeing vets out for extended times although I was not happy with Crowder yesterday, way too many drops. Maybe he could have been a solid vet as the seasons goes on. Definitely a big drop from Cole Beasley as a slot receiver. He may be missed more as a punt returner.

Poor coaching by McDermott is becoming a theme

What don't you get? With McD we have: A highly credible voice at the helm Continuous improvement A winning record A great culture Players that are talented, good people, and want to be in Buffalo A legit shot at a SB -

Because Moss can block in pass protection. -
Bills open at -14 next week against Steelers

Pittsburgh looks like a mess after the Jets loss. That’s why it will be close for awhile but Buffalo will win this time. -

Duke was picked very close to these two. Duke was a 3rd round pick at 77 overall, Moss 3rd round 86th overall, Cook was 2 round and 63 overall. -
Both have been excellent. I picked the defense due to consistency, team play, and handling injuries. The DL is noticeably the most improved unit on the team so far, and we are playing practice squad tackles some of the time. The DBs are very young and holding up well considering the injuries to 4 of the 5 starters. The LBs have been exceptional. The offense is mostly Josh and Diggs. Injuries at WR and OL have slowed down point production a bit in the past few weeks, but they are still producing and moving the ball. I think the interior OL can use more power and skill and has to be upgraded. Running back production is pretty much just Singletary.

I check that and you are correct. I didn't see him in the Titans game. Probably partying too much during that game. Singletary has earned the respect not to be bench for fumble/drop. He had a good game. Maybe Cook fumbles in practice or maybe the coaches don't like the way he prepares? He is definitely getting the rookie treatment from the coaches. I want him to get more chances too. -
NFL WEEK #4 - Bills at Ravens - Post Game Thread
Bob in STL replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
He did today. He stopped the bleeding and they shut them down in the second half. Actually every game he tweaks and fine tunes the opening defense. I think he is very adept at it. Last year, sometimes we didn't match up in the trenches but the editions of Von Miller, Jordan Phillips, Settle, Jones and Lawson have helped a lot. This defense at full strength will be even better. -

Shakir played his first second NFL regular season game today and he was not shaky at all. Agree on Cook, we need to see more of him before we judge him. -

Clearly, he didn't think they could hold a 3 point lead. Great way to lose the locker room. -
Milano and Edmunds fit this 2 LB defense. I am so glad we have them.

Crowder in a boot...time to call sanders?
Bob in STL replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall
I might add that I thought Crowder played like a NY Jet today. I counted 4 drops. Not the production we need from a slot receiver. -

Uhhm. Shakir played today and caught 2 passes. He has been on the 53 man roster all season. Hodgins is the likely call up. -

Or the fact he essentially told his defense he didn't trust them to hold the 3 point lead. -
Totally disagree. A field goal does him a lot of good, it gives then the lead. Then you Trust your defense to hold the lead. He basically told his defense he didn't trust them. If he must play for a TD, a better call would have been a run, if it failed then Bills would have started very deep in their own zone and again - you TRUST your defense.

I could have easily not hit him at all. He took a step, slowed down, then took another step and hit him anyway. Not only did he hit him, he wrapped him up and tackled him. Earlier in the game Allen took a head hit and talked to the ref about it, he was in their head. How many times has this call gone against us? Get a clue, stop listening to "announcers", you cannot late hit a QB. If you do you will get called 9 put of 10 times.
