Maybe Chan is the right coach
Bob in STL replied to Bufcomments's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It sure seems that way indeed. In fifty years of Bills football we have had 3 really good football coaches on this team. Saban, Knox and Levy. You can throw in Wade Phillips too but I for one am not a big fan of Wade as a HC. Buter Ramsey might not have bneen too bad considering the players he had from 60-62. Now look at the bad ones .. John Rauch, Jope Collier, Harvey Johnson, Jim Ringo, Kay Stephenson, Hank Boullough, Greggggo Williams, Mike Mularkey, and Dick Jauron. At least Collier, Williams and Mularkey are accomplished coordinators in the NFL. Ringo was a good OL position coach anf that is it. Jauron a good secondary coach and that is it. Rauch was crap at Oakland and here. Stephaneson and hammer'in Hank should never have been given an NFL coaching job. Johnson was a thrown in after other coaches were fired in mid season. Oveall a pretty sad crew. -
Torbor could be one of the better pick ups in the off season and will help this team at inside or outside LB. He sends a signal to Maybin to up his game. No one is going to give Maybin a starting position. We already heard rumblings from Nix that Maybin was not the kind of player he would have picked. Your list of first round duds has some errors. Patulski at least played and started. Harmon was a good player but did not fit on our team. Gant never lived up to his pick but he had a few good season. Miller was good back but short lived. Hunter, Bell and Losman at least played but were not good picks. Lets not forget Mike Williams at #5. Actually the least production from a first round pick would go to this crew: Booker Moore, Phil Dokes, John McCargo, Eric Flowers and Tom Cousineau. All first rounders that gave us nothing. I sure hope Maybin does not join this illustrious group.

I thought that "bump" meant agreement or concurrence with the last comments.

Maybe Chan is the right coach
Bob in STL replied to Bufcomments's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Chan is a good coach and well respected in the NFL. He is an excellent OC too. We shall see how he does with the Bills in both roles. To be successful he will need better players that what he currently has. We still need help in the trenches, at WR, and maybe even at LB. Plus we do not know if we have a QB on the roster that can get the job done. Lots of unproven players. Not sure who will emerge as a leader on this team. This is an area that has been lacking for a long time. Too many players seem to be ok with losing. That has to stop. -

Worst NFL stadium issue you have had, anywhere
Bob in STL replied to Skoobydum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I read this twice, still couldn't make any sense out of it, then laughed anyway. -
I agree with your assessment and yet she does nothing for me. No talent at all .. she is part of todays insane pop culture that makes Paris Hilton and Brittney Spears a star. I will go back to Barbara Eden in the 60's or Farah in the 70's. That works for me.

				Offensive Line Rankings
Bob in STL replied to San Jose Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Ridiculously low? It sounds about right. It is based on last years performance and the fact that we have not upgraded any postions. Butler out at RT and Green is in ... can that be looked at as an upgrade? What did we do in the draft? We picked up two late round projects. If the interior three improve, and that is likely, then that will help. Please admit we are lacking at both tackles with Bell, Green, Meredith, Chambers and Wang. -

trade package with Schobel and Lynch.
Bob in STL replied to gjv001's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sure. Every team out there is just dying to acquire a DE that wants to go to work on his terms or else retire. When you through in a RB that can't stay out of trouble and is one false move away from another suspension you really make the deal hard to beat. Why not throw in McCargo and ask for a number 1? -
Better than stripping in a fight club.

Edwards may get the QB call, Fitz may get the QB call. Summer time football news.
 -
This is not a depth chart ... it is a projection of starters with some fantasy thrown in at the end. Nice to dream. LT Meredith and RT Calloway? I am very concerned about this prediction. I think it will be LT Bell and RT Green which is also pretty scary.
 -
I would say 3rd best based on last years performance on the field. Sorry man but its true.
 -
Comparing Lynch to Dickerson? Can I tell you that Lynch couldn't carry his jock strap?
 -
What crap. Wya to dismiss a mans career with no facts. Just like the season opener against New England, right? Ask Bellichek and Brady what they think of Mr. Schobel. We just lost one of the few very good players on the roster.
 -
Really? He is a very capable LT. I don't think you will find much agruement that he is a better player at this point in his career than Bell/Meredith/Wang.
 -
He was damm good. He played on mostly lousy teams and he still excelled. He leadership is without question. If we had more Schobel's we would have won more games. He will be missed.

Is Evans a #1 on the Bills and a #2 anywhere else?
Bob in STL replied to MClem06's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Lee Evans would be a #1 if he he played for Miami or NY Jets. He is clearly the #1 on Buffalo. Put him on the Colts and he is a #1 and in the Pro Bowl. -
Since when is Gaither considered a guy that cannot play? Gaither can play and he can play LT. It all comes down to what price are we willing to pay for him. Nix's actions indicate he is not willing to pay that price. I just cannot believe that nix will sit pat with Bell, Meredith and Wang as his LT prospects.
 -
I disagree. It had a huge impact on the team in that it set the pay structure for the OL. Two years later Jason Peters emerges and becomes a Pro Bowl LT and for a number of reasons is making peanuts compared to Dockery and Walker ... both of whom are very average at best. I believe that these poor decisions affected the entire OL and especially Peters. Bad business almost always has secondary impacts.
 -
I guess the 1 year deal at $2.3M sets the market for a RT. If we do trade for him I would expect his agent will want to renegotiate a longer term contract for a LT, not a a RT. Looking at this number I am just amazed at what we paid Langston Walker and Derrick Dockery!! I am so uncomfortable with Bell, Meredith and Wang as our LT prospects ... I hope the door is not closed on Gaither.

why is Jamon Meredith being ignored
Bob in STL replied to milehiLou's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well Mrs. Meredith I think your son projects more as a RT. Most "very talented prospects" tend to make the 53 man roster and start their careers as back ups at least. The fact that your son was on the Green Bay practice squad could indicate that his talent, or work ethic perhaps, are not all that you think? I sure hope he steps up and can play because we need it. -

"Next year" is always the best year for drafting quarterback
Bob in STL replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If you can believe the experts and all the draftniks the common theme is that the 2011 QB class has a lot of potential, maybe not as many big names from the bigs schools. Looker is at the top of the list right now. Other than Bradford at #1, the 2010 class did not have QBs that teams covet. Denver chased Tebow but he lasted awhile. Every team passed on Clausen in round 1. Buffalo, a team looking for a QB, passed on Tebow and Clausen.
