Backside protection or frontside protection does not really matter as much as people thing. If you get chased from the pocket you are forced to throw on the move and most QBs have a hard time doing that. Much more effective to stay in the pocket, set up and throw. Against Washington Edwards got good protection from the left and very bad from the right causing him to hurry and be inefffective. Seeing it coming might keep you alive for a few more plays but it still is disruptive.

Stop it with the painful facts. Ouch.

I think what your seeing is years of frustration that is now leading to impatience. True that was 1 preseason game and we have a new regime in place. We should all chill out. BUT. Rightly or wrongly Trent is being judged on his previous body of work and the fact that he is having a "good camp" means nothing. The fact that Maybin can outplay Meredith and Chambers means nothing. Like Buddy Nix says over and over, they have done nothing until they produce a winner on the field. I would be pleased a respectable showing against Indy's first team players, after that I don't care what happens. I would like to see the first team offense score a touchdown. We are going on TWO years since that has actually happened.

Don't you think you should give them more than ONE preseason game to make that claim? Even special teams is trying out players and playing scrubs. You won't see the real coverage teams for a few more games. News flash ... Dehaven is the special teams coach in Buffalo again.

I am confident in Spiller as a runner but this hurts our pass protection even more. Rookies tend to struggle picking up blitzes.
-
I would like to ask the other coaches in the NFL to evaluate that your statement. Who would you want on your team Whitner or Wilson. I bet the vote would be Whitner and it would not even be close.
-
He might be taller or weigh more but he will NEVER be the larger player.
-
Agree. Scott looked slow. Wilson had a bad game too and he played against back ups.
-
Very true on Chambers. I understand that Wang is very raw. (No pun intended either)

Rather be in our position than the Redskins?

Maybe we wont be so "tired" against Indy and have a better showing. I know ... Chan can make them go to bed two hours earlier next time. -
They will carry four backs for sure. Expect to see lots of passes to our RBs also. We have little else to throw too.
-
I am judging him by the first half only. Sacks don't tell the whole story. There was pressure coming from the right all night, forcing the QB to move out. Trent's interception for one example. Then he had two false starts in the first half that hurt us. If he makes the team it is a sign we did not improve the O-line. He was cut last year and he should be cut this year too. Hiowever, since we did nothing to improve the OT situation he may stick around another season. That is scary for our QB's.
-
Could have been a call. Looked like he got under the mask and had his throat. He just rode him off of the play and tossed him. Trent Williams will find out that not every DE is going to be like that. I like the way Williams played for a rookie.
-
Me too. Orakpo vs Maybin is equivilent to man vs. boy. I really think it will take Maybin two more years to fill out and develop, if he ever does. He should have stayed in school. Yet he is cashing in huge paychecks.

Chambers was horrible last night. I cannot believe that this team expects to improve the OL and keep him on the team. We ended last season without a legitimate proven starting OT on the team. We started this season the same way unless Cornell Green can prove me wrong. We are counting on Bell, Meredith, Green and a bunch of late round picks and rookie free agents. Anyone else concerned?

Johnson was ok nothing a special. He did not get separation on the bomb. The starting combination of Evans, Johnson and Stupar is not going to scare anybody. It could be one of the worst WR/TE combos we have had in years actually. We will be throwing to our backs a lot this year and trying to get favorable match ups on linebackers. Expect to see two tailbacks in the game a lot. Chan said thay had plays featuring Lynch and Jackson that got shelved when they both got hurt. Hopefully Spiller will start to pick up the offense.

What has changed since 2008 with TE?

B + D + bad coaching for 3 years = Current Trent -
Yeah. He really beat up on 3rd stringers and scrubs.

I heard that and they kept driving it home. I think they were making a point because the news on Camp Chan is out. With injuries you cannot ever claim to know the answer. Camp Jauron was soft and we still had lots of injuries. Gailey's are tough and the injuries are piling up already. We have changed Strength and Conditioning coaches numerous times in the last 10 years. Seems like luck has something to do with it.

I guess it looks like a bottle cap to some. I never saw that. I could see the "sun/hoop thing" plain as day. My opinion is that the Dolphins logo is crappy for a sports team. Same with their team colors and uni's. It sounds like you think most of the sport logos are bad? I do like the simpler designs. Too much detail is not needed in a sports logo (for my taste). The Chicago Black Hawks are an exception. I do like the colors and detail in it. (Don't mean to tread on the politically correct topic again.) I remember the original Raven logo, the "B" in the shield with the wings. It was ok I guess. What does that have to do with your point though?

Promo -- My summary. The only thing that mattered was the first quarter and we made mistakes. Stupar's holding killed a TD on a great first drive. Maybin's roughing the QB led to a TD for them. Our OL was hurting on the right side with Cordaro Howard at RG and Chambers at RT. After a few series the Skins worked that side hard and it led to more mistakes, Trents pic, etc. Chambers got flagged twice for movement. He is just not very good. We lost the real game with starters 10-3. Our second team front 7 looked bad, even against their backups. In the seocnd half our scrubs got beat by their scrubs. Hence the score you see. Maybin played the whole game. He is a project.

The First Quarter was the only part of the game were both teams played all of their starters lets discuss the best and worst things we saw yesterday. The quarter ended 10-3 with the Skins driving for their next TD. We had two offensive possessions totally 6 minutes, 22 yards rushing, 44 yards passing, 5 first downs and 2 penalties for 25 yards. Worst - Our pass rush. No QB pressure in the first two series. The run defense was pretty good. Best- Our first series on offense. We really mixed up plays and moved the chains. Chan alluded to some things he wanted to do with two RB's that he could not do with Jackson and Lynch out. I am hopeful that when our starting OL comes together that we make a big stride forward. Keep the faith.
