  1. Positives? You can sure tell when Troup was out there. The Jags must have averaged 10 yards per carry instead of the normal 5. Carrington? Was there a Carrington sighting? Steve Johnson - not impressed. Still slow. Still cuts off his pattern too soon. Still had drops at key times. He had a killer penalty in the red zone. Ok -- he dd make a very nice TD catch but really, this guy is maybe a number 4 wideout on a decent team. I saw two positives: 1 - Fred Jackson 2 - We are at a bye week.
  2. They fire Tom Donahoe and hire Marv Levy (no FO experience) and Russ Brandon (marketing guy with no Football experience) to run the team. Marv leaks out that he really prefers to coach. For several years it is apparent that no one is really at the controls, especially on draft day. Marv quits with one year still on his contract and is not replaced ... Brandon and Jauron "take over". Jauron is given a new contract after 3 straight 7-9 seasons. Jauron falls out of favor after his team blows a 5-1 start. Nest season ... It was a complete joke that Dick Jauron's rag-tag offense was even going to try to run the no-huddle as their primary offense. They cut Walker and then cut the OC, just one week before the first game. Jauron is evcentually purged. After Jauron they start a campaign for a new GM and hopefully a revamped FO. Wilson hires a well known scout from within the ranks because he "didn't recognize any of the other names". Next they did an "all out coaching search" but all the poor fans ever heard about is all of the coaches that turned down interviews. They media has been blasting the Bills since the removal of Tom Donahoe but look at the circus that they see. The Bills deserve the bad press, but the fans do not.
  3. He is right about a lot of things. Unfortunately everything he says has been covered 1000 times before. No summary and no ideas.
  4. "work the phones?" So who makes trades in the season? Look at what New England does. They just traded Randy Moss. Before that it was Seymore. Before that is was somebody else. They have 2 picks in the each of the first four rounds next year. They will retool and possibly win the division at the same. We do not need to bring in other teams cast offs. Lets stock pile draft picks and then do something novel like draft good players.
  5. Stick with the change. We play a 3-4 and a 4-3 anyway as do most 3-4 teams. Let's draft better football players and then we won't be talking about what scheme to play.
  6. Been a fan since I can remember .. since I was born in 1958 that goes back to about 63-64 for me. I am never going to jump off "the bandwagon" but I deserve the right to vent a little bit. There are three constants for the Buffalo Bills since inception: 1. Ralph Wilson 2. Die hard fans 3. Loyalty Ralph has always been loyal to those percieved to be loyal to him, including loyalty to the city of Buffalo. Because of this, some of his front office cronies seem to get a pass no matter what their performance is. Buffalo's fans have in turn always been loyal, no matter the product that Ralph has produced.
  7. Consistency is most important on the OL. Change for the sake of change is not good. Why replace the entire middle three to play two guys, namely Wang and Urbik, who have exactly ZERO NFL experience? What have these two characters done to earn an NFL start? The most interesting prospect so far is not Wang or Urbik but Cordero Howard who you fail to mention. He could end up pushing one of the the starting gaurds to the bench someday.
  8. I think he said "I'm not looking for the best players, I'm looking for the best TEAM". So what have they done? Cut a few players, pick up a draft pick and a few players that were let go by other teams.
  9. You just learned this? Their ability to unload veterans for draft pick is well documented. Expect them to trade some of those picks for more picks, and better picks, in 2012.
  10. Welcome back DC. I agree. It had to be done and that 4th round pick could be a starting LB, a RT, or TE someday.
  11. Terrible trade? Freddy has gas in the tank. He is a good all purpose back. Spiller is one of the few potential stars on the team and he will get a lot of touches. If this trade is real it is about all you can expect. Best wishes to Lynch but he is caught in a numbers game. He has great ability.
  12. So why hasn't anybody else hired Billick?
  13. Williams is a good rotational player. Not an every down NT. Troup played more than I have seen in past weeks. Maybe getting pushed around by Mangold will speed up his development? Scoring is a huge difference. Also, I think we blitz less and get much less pressure, evidenced by the fact that we have ZERO picks. We cannot seems to force a turnover.
  14. We drafted Troup (NT), Carrington (DE), Batten (LB), and Moats (LB). All of them project to play the 3-4. Problem is they are rookies. You simply cannot expect too much from a rookie, especially mid and late round picks. If a rookie starts on your team you had a big hole. There are exceptions but not a lot. In every draft there are players that can step in but it sure seems like the ones that make an impact are the ones surrounded by good players. Ever notice that good teams can plug in a rookie and bad teams can't?
  15. Correct. Whitner and Fitz and I will go with Poz too. Afetr that forget it. Evans looked like he quit.
  16. Jets game last year versus Jets game this year. Call it a stretch play or a cut back run ... we don't have the horses to play good defense. The Jets killed us with it last year (4-3) and once again this year (3-4). Does not matter what scheme we run? No, Their blockers are so much beter than our front 7 it does not matter at all. We really need to credit Perry Fewell for getting the defense ready last year. They had some good games overall. Now? What a difference this year with basically the same players. Where are the blitzes and the forced turnovers? Changing to a 3-4 lust set us back at least another year in "the rebuild". Most of the time we play with 4 down lineman, the 4th down linemen is usually Chris Kelsy lined up as a DE. Kelsey has no sacks and gets no pressure, but he has a new contract. LBs - Ellis, Torbor, and Ellison are not getting it done. Davis can't cover my grandmother. Poz is playing alone. We sorely need linebackers on this team. So I ask ... We get excited about a few rookies such as Moats (6th rounder) and Coleman (UDFA). Of course they are not even close to the same level as Orakpo, Cushing and Matthews? Each of them are all making a huge contributions to their teams while our #1 pick collects a big paycheck and twitters like some high school kid. Does this tell us anything? Anyone else feel foresaken by this FO?
  17. Players win, not schemes.
  18. Our offense played great against New England so lets defer and kick so our suspect defense can get rolled on the first series. Deferring is for pussies. Unless the weather is a major factor give me the damm ball first.
  19. I came home from the Dolphins game feeling ripped off. I came home from the Cleveland last year game feeling ripped off. Spending money .. tickets, hotels, airfare, food ... and getting nothing.
  20. Ralph did not want Shottenheimer because Marty has a reputation for wanting things done his way. Ralph will not have that.
  21. You cannot cut them. Like it or not they are two of the better players on the team. Evans really showed nothing today. How many balls hit hit hands? Look like he quit. Whitner is what he is. An average safety that unfortunately was drafted #8 overall.
  22. Mine too. Had we kept Greer we would not have needed to sign McKelvion. Would have been nice to draft an OL, DL or LB with that pick.
  23. The defense is horrible and does not have the right talent to run a 3-4. When Nix and Gailey decided to make the switch they more than doubled the workload on this rebuild. Should we go back? I say no. Why start over again when this season is lost. Keep playing the 3-4 and maybe a few of the young guys will start to develop. We need to draft better players on the front 7. It will take years for this defense to come together. Sorry, but unless they are going to spend money bringing in talented veterans there is no fast solution. Even spending big money on free agents is no gaurantee.
  24. Hard to say for sure but it is close.
  25. Wrong. Did you see our defense last week? Running is good for them too. We want "weak armed Sanchez" to throw, don't we?
