Prediction: Fitzpatrick Looks Bad Against Baltimore
Bob in STL replied to NaPolian8693's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fitzpatrick went 29-of-43 passing for 373 yards and four touchdowns -- three to Evans and another to Steve Johnson. The four TD passes were the most against the Ravens since Peyton Manning did it for the Indianapolis Colts in December 2007. Oh yeah, great prediction! -
Bills fans should take Ryan Fitzpatrick seriously...
Bob in STL replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't perscribe to any theory that Fitz is a number 1 QB as he lacks accuracy and consistency as a passer. However, please don't cheapen his performance by saying he is playing against backups. I did not see any backup in the Ravens game or the Pats both of which went down to the wire. I don't recall him playing against backups versus the Jags and Jets for that matter. -
A Few Thoughts About The Game
Bob in STL replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Seems like you have been gone all season? Welcome back and right on. I don't hate Whitner like you do but i I really wish he would stop talking and tweeting and focus on play better. -
I actually thought it was the wrong call but I am not clear on the rule. He had on foot down, and his second foot landed on the Ravens ankle not the turf. It looked like his elbow landed inbounds before he was thrown out of the end zone. So he has a foot down and an elbow down. Does that mean anything? I usually agree with you on these issues but I have to say that forward progress was clearly stopped and then he was stripped. Edwards blew it and he should have taken care of the ball but the refs made the wrong call. I will agree that we have too many players that do not know how to win. Add Spiller to the list with his stupid kickoff return and fumble at the end of the half.

Congratulations Steve Johnson!
Bob in STL replied to BuffaloBillsForever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Check my posts and you will see I have been ragging him this year. I don't like his speed and he has a tendency to stop running his pattern when the pass is delivered. Today he showed me somethng. He still has a ways to go but today he showed me something. -
Stupid play by a vet but I can't be made at him. They handled one of the best front fours in the league today. Horrible call by the ref. The Ravens did not need the 15 yards, the refs gave them the game.

Add to te bad: George Edwards defensive planning. We need pressure on the QB. Our DBs cannot cover forever. Byrd is invisable because they play him 30 yards deep. Spiller's kick-off return with 56 seconds left in the first half. VERY STUPID to even run it out. That play cost us a touchdown and the momentum going into the 2nd half.

Bills situation beyond hope
Bob in STL replied to Another Point of View's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Very good article. Not the typical unresearched cheap shot article that insults the city and the fans. I can't agree with all of the examples but I agree in principal that the Front Office is not up to NFL caliber. Just think about where they ended last season with Fewell coaching. Then recall the GM search, the coaching search, the sleepy start to free agency, and the draft. Think about the "we have too many holes" and "we can't get it done in one" excuses. These comments made be very true but they are excuses and they define the mode of operation that we fans have to endure from this front office for far too long. The results speak for themselves. Now we get to hear about how they must "bottom out" and that excuse is just lame. No team should ever try to lose to gain better draft picks. It sure looks like that is "big plan" they keep alluding too. The best line from the article: ... "And when you look at the state of affairs in Buffalo, it is maddening, puzzling, and downright sad. I would love for Roger Goodell, who certainly has enough on his plate, to consider stepping in to save the team. Thats how mismanaged they are. The Bills are light years away from the Patriots, Jets, and Dolphins." ... -
I would like to see Buddy step into the batters box a little more often. Sleeping through free agency does not seem like the smartest thing to do. Then again, telling the media and fans that you slept through the opening day of free agency says something now doesn't it? And then watch the Front Office get cheap and have Luck hold out for the entire training camp and pre-season? With the long term track record of this frachsine I would prefer to see them trade down and acquire more picks.

Yes Wilson is an old school guy and he is not going to email fans. Wilson committment to winning has always been counter-balanced by the financial bottom line. However ... lets at least give him some props for keeping the team in Buffalo and voting against all the franchise moves in the past. Please recall that many owners have moved their teams from more lucrative marklets than Buffalo (Baltimore Colts, St. Louis Cardinals, LA Rams, Oakland Raiders, LA Raiders and the Cleveland Browns).

Codero Howard to Start At Right Tackle...
Bob in STL replied to BillsPhan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He was a RT in college. He was picked as RT with the thought that he could dominate at RT and eventually move to LT. He never did move to LT. EVER. Did not have the feet or the athletic ability. He was lazy and slow. -
Just watched the Sabres turn in another listless performance at home against the Senators. They turned the puck over so many times in the first period that my head was spinning. They fell behind, never got the lead, and lost. Galisano cares nothing about hockey or winning or sports in general.

Do we have any players that should be extended?
Bob in STL replied to jahnyc's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would extend Whitner, Poz and Florence ... only because we have so many other holes. Youboty is not a football player; he is a cream puff that is never ready to get on the field and sieze the moment. Agree that the overall talent is very poor. Worse than the 1984-85 era and maybe slightly better than the 1969-71 era. -
Unlike Chase Daniel, Blaine Gabbert has prototypical size for the quarterback position. Height : 6 foot 4 Weight : 226 lbs. Unlike Brad Smith, he has an arm that can make every throw in the playbook. He has great athletic ability, speed, and is very smart. He has a 4.1 core GPA (with honors classes) and a 25 ACT. Gabbert is a Junior and I predict he will stay in school another year.

I thought we did the "get Gaither" thing during the preseason?
-
Nope. Unfortunately you will see many posts that are even dumber than those that would rate a draft as a bust after 5 games. Stick around.
-
1. Spiller rarely plays and he is RB, not a WR. 2. We lost TO and Josh Reed and in place we have Stevie Johnson. 3. Lee Evans is invisable. 4. We did nothing to improve the OL 5. Better coaching? Not on defense or Special Teams 6. Defensive front 7 is horrendous and not capable of the playing the defense that was installed.
-
True. Problem is when will we have the string draft and how long will it take to see results.

For those that want to draft something other than QB
Bob in STL replied to drewfla's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Rams bottomed out for three years and they play in a woeful division. They replaced the FO, the coaches, and they selected Bradford. Happy to see Bradford doing well but the kid still has a long way to go and they need more help around him to enable him to take the next step. I would love to see the Bills draft a franchise QB and see him step in and do well right away. That would be ideal in that it almost never happens. -
Codero Howard to Start At Right Tackle...
Bob in STL replied to BillsPhan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How many games did he play at LT. Answer = 0. When he was drafted there were doubts that he was athletic enough to convert to LT. -
Codero Howard to Start At Right Tackle...
Bob in STL replied to BillsPhan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Someone forgot to remind Tom Donahoe of that when he selected Mike Williams with the 5th pick in round 1. No way I trade up to get Davis. Glad Buddy felt the same. Eddy Wang was a 5th rounder. UDFA or not, I hope Howard plays so well that I never see Cornell Green again. I suspect that if Howard makes it in the NFL it will be at guard. -
uhh ... It's not Paul McGuire.

Where do you guys dream this stuff up? The position moves are because of injuries. The way to improve the line is like this: (1) add better talent, and (2)maintain consistency. Your plan stays with the same talent we have right now (or less), and then moves every single person to a new position. Howard is a guard in this league and nothing more. The fact that he plays tackle for us shows how woeful our talent and depth are. If he is our starting LT next year we are sunk. Levitre is a guard. Like it or not, our best OL this season has been one of TSW's favorite whipping boys --- Hangartner. Wood needs to up his game if he is going to replace him. People treat Wood like the next coming of Kent Hull. Come on Eric Wood, start knocking' people down and holding others accountable. So far he is mediocre for a #1 pick. Unfortunately his injury has slowed he development. Urbick - why are you handing him a job? He is big and he is from Pittsburgh, so what? He is a project, just like Wang, and Bell, and Howard. We need to draft tackles. I would not be opposed to using our first pick on a tackle if a player like Jake Long was sitting there.
