  1. We have the worst run defense in the league. We have one of the worst pass rushes in the league (could be the worst). We have a coaching staffing that wants to play 3-4 with holdovers from a 4-3. It is hard to believe they will not take defensive line or LB with the first pick. If there is a player to build around in these positions then you have to do it.
  2. Coach Gailey said that the game was too fast for him. Another way of saying he lacks experience. It was his second start in two years. That all said Brohm still does not show much IMO I think the Bills will draft a QB. If not early then expect them to try to find a developmental project (ala Levi Brown) in the later rounds. Right now the team has no viable backup to Fitz.
  3. I think we should give Spiller another year before the gloom and doom. Ballaga had his problems too. The best OL picked after Spiller was Saffold (1st pick in round 2 by the Rams). He is their starting LT. Bill Polian himself has gone on record and said he should have taken him. If the Bills took Saffold at 9 the football world would have cried reach.
  4. No one in your list of five is a pass rusher. We need a DE or OLB that can pressure the QB. That would be my top priority.
  5. Really? First time? Wow. Not me.
  6. Thank you sir may I have another.
  7. I actually saw nothing in the line play to support a strong running game. I think we should have done more to try to run and that should have been Plan A. That is all. I think Gailey had Brohm throwing too much right from the start and the Jets teed off on him. I also think that the O-line really misses Hangartner.
  8. True. Experience would teach you to take the sack and not force a bad pass that will be picked.
  9. Agree. It will take many perfect drafts in a row to turn it around unless we use free agency. Buddy Nix, Please stay awake this time!!
  10. He usually handles it with a lenghty hold out, followed by bad feelings, and quite possibly leading to a lost season for the draft choice.
  11. I saw nothing positive in Brohm today. However, to be fair, he has no real game experience and our WRs ans TEs did nothing to help him. I think Chan expected too much and should have simplified things for him. This was the game to run the ball and feature Freddy Jackson. This was the time for our OL to make a statement against a tough devision foe. Brohm needed Jackosn to carry the load. There were drops and fumbles by Stevie Johnson and others that also hurt us. Overall Brohm showed a real lack of experience and was not comfortable in the pocket. He made bad decisions and his reads were not good. Is that what you want to hear? More importantly, I learned that Fitz makes our offensive line look halfway decent when they, in fact, are not.
  12. Thanks Bill. I hope we can find a few players in the draft: a pass rusher (DE/OLB), OT, and ILB that would be a start.
  13. The only thing that I am truly disappointed about is the apparent lack of effort and preparation, especially by the defense.
  14. Lots of work for Buddy and his gang. Do not be surprised to see us draft a QB to groom behind Fitz.

  16. I should have said 'Good point but ...'
  17. Good point. We will draft a QB just to get a viable option after Fitz.
  18. No. I am giving Brohm some slack just due to lack of experience. I agree he looks bad though. Lets get this over and draft some defense and a RT
  19. Sounds like PTR is not a Brohm fan. This game shows me how much help we still need at OL. Centet and tackles are getting owned.
  20. Interesting. I think this is a good thing. Let see what Brohm can do.
  21. You may like this better ...
  22. I don't think this sends a wrong message to a locker room filled with players on the 32nd ranked defense in the league. I think it sends the perfect message. We will make changes and we MUST get better. From what I can tell this is a low risk contract that can payoff big if Merriman gets healthy and returns to form. Jerry Sullivan has his usual negative slant ... he reports it as a $5.5M contract but in order for Merriman to make that much he will have to perform at a level we have not see out of a Bills LB since we first acquired Takeo Spikes. Someone mentioned that Poz has not been approached yet and that the Bills are far apart with Whitner, so some Bills veterans "know were they stand". True. There is nothing wrong with that either. Note: Since this is the Bills we are talking about, I just hope they do not pass up an opportunity draft a top DE/OLB because of this signing. It is very possible that Merriman will not be able to come back to his old form. I view this as a luxuary signing with high reward and low risk. Pass rush is still our nunber one weakness and the Bills cannot look at this signing as adequately addressing it.
