  1. Mary? I saw a statue of her in church this morning. What is your point?
  2. responding to your list. 1 - Last week means nothing. Margin of victory means less. 2 - True, injury factor is on our side but how many times have backup players lit up the Bills? Answer = lots. 3 - Reasonable advantage for Bills. 4 - Way too early to assume any of this stuff. One game does not tell us much. Every week is a new week and every week there are upsets. 5 - Our recent home field advantage and our record on home openers has been poor. This in not the 90's. BTW - Uniforms, hope, and what the fans want mean nothing once the games starts. We will in if we stop the run and avoid turnovers and penalties. We have to stop the run. Our men in the trenches have to match up on both sides of he ball. The Bills have a lot to prove and Oakland will be a formidable opponent. I think we can win but I expect a close game and we will need big plays from key people.
  3. Looks like Fitzgibbons?
  4. One of the classic MNF games. I remember going to school the next day exhausted. Didn't matter because just about every teacher I had wanted to talk football that day.
  5. The dominant season is winter because November, December, January, February, and March have weather that is cold, rainy, snowy and windy. Thats is 5 months out of 12. Summer months are June, July and August and June is a stretch as it is more like spring. Sunday will be 71 and very nice in Buffalo as it will be for most NFL cities in week 2 of the season.
  6. I scanned this thread looking for some good dialog on two men who are icons. Maybe some discussion on how the AFL was formed, or how Wilson helped his fellow owners (including Oakland) in tough times. Maybe how Davis went from Coach to GM to Owner. How about the story of Davis going toe-to-toe with Pete Rozelle prior to the NFL merger? Not one constructive comment. All you guys can come up with are petty insults against the aged. To all you young hotshots that constantly insult Ralph for being old, take a minute to think about what your generation look like in 60 to 70 years? I mean between the obesity of your generation, the steroid side effects, and all the wrinkled skin covered with faded tats. That will be scary too. Have a nice day.
  7. Been a lot of places and I must disagree. If you don't like an area where the dominant season is winter then you probably won't like it but in many other ways WNY is a very nice place. I assume you to be a man of some stature (maybe even "on the ball") but it sure sounds like you never lost that "self deprecating negativity" even though you found nirvana living in New England. Just saying. Back to Bledsoe. I recall many interviews where he was so positive about Buffalo, heck he got a hero's welcome. As an NFL QB he was well above average as a pure passer but he could not process the game at NFL speed. His blown opportunities in Buffalo and Dallas prove he is not a HoF QB either. He needs to deal with that.
  8. ... and won a super bowl.
  9. ^^^ Best post of the day, week, month, ....
  10. How about if its not broke don't fix it.
  11. Nothing like it. Veteran team in 2003, very young team now. Home win in 2003, road win now. Uniform statement is incorrect and not relevant. Many fans do not believe we are destined for greatness this season, just solid improvement.
  12. Been going there for over 20 years. The section of lot we go to is now overrun with RVs and you need to get there by 10:00 to get a spot. Not a problem for us but some of our visitors end up parking somewhere else due to the RV's. Still a great place to park. It is a tradition for my group. As for the drunken fans, they are everywhere. They do not bother me. When my kids were young I used to get annoyed at the profanity and continuous use of the F-bomb by these fine folks. By now I am numb to it.
  13. Run more than your opponent. Win the take-away keep-away. Play inspired special teams.
  14. ECC WAS the best kept secret. It used to be awesome. Mostly cars and lots of grass around to play pick up games on. A few years back it stared getting invaded by RV's. One RV will take two parking spots and then the group in the RV will typically take another spot with their stuff. Now with this Disney parking issue it can only get worse. ECC WAS a good place to park.
  15. The wing story cannot be valid. You cannot IR someone for minor illnesses, the league will not allow it. The wing story makes no sense when you look at Easley's physique. You do not get like that by eating hundreds of wings.
  16. I must be somthing stupid like the wing contest. If was anything else Gailey would not have said what he said. Easley is still essentially a rookie and he has not earned his coaches respect apparently. Jones and Nelson played well. Easley will not see the field until they have to use him.
  17. Stop it jw .. I thought I blocked all that bad history out. Don't even mention those Cleveland games.
  18. Hold on Promo. I am a diehard fan too but lets keep this game in perspective. 1. One game does not make a season. 2. We beat the Chiefs, a marginal playoff team, they are nothing special. 3. Everything from the opening kickoff to the last whistle went our way. 4. We showed little in pre-season and that was by design. 5. We did little to improve the offense and that may catch up to us by week 3 or 4. I agree that the Buffalo News staff is weak but this game surprised a lot of people.
  19. We made very few mistakes. We had a good game plan, good preparation. The drive to start the 2nd half was very nice. Leaders are emerging on this team.
  20. Back to the original topic .... Dareus looked huge. He looks fast and he already plays and thinks at NFL game speed. He looks like a natural defensive lineman. He ate space, he swallowed blockers, he disrupted the Chiefs. He could develop into a difference maker.
  21. Great comments Bill. Especially item 1.
  22. Help or no help, Bell played a fine game. Every OT gets help when playing a top talent like Hali. Bell actually looked pissed off and I liked that a lot.
  23. Impressive start and yes, I am surprised by it.
  24. You can look at 10 years of film and be hard pressed to find a TE that involved in a Bills game plan. I was impressed. That first score was huge and the perfect time to use a TE. I will bet the Chiefs did not expect a pass to the TE on that play. It has been way too long.
  25. 1. They did not need to blitz, they had decent pressure without it. 2. KC killed them last year with runs against the blitz. He looked a bit worn as the game went on. Normal and to be expected. He still makes a difference and opponents need to acccount for him.
