Great Coverage and ball overthrown

Greggggo's defense holds

Maybe if we did not wait until the seventh round we could get a stud TE?
-
I think Brees is going to take control of this game.
-
Willis is a stud. Brees fantastic, coulston outstanding. Lots of talent on the field today.
-
You could also add that he did play good football for us ... Oh wait, not for a number 8, that's right.
-
Graham is impressive. Bills have a ways to go to improve the talent the team. Need another good draft.

I wish we had a stud safety like whitner

Players I don't think will be back
Bob in STL replied to Fan in Chicago's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What would the reasons be then? He appears to be a nice guy and a hard worker. Just can't stay healthy enough to stay on the field and gain the experience he needs. Please elaborate? -
We really need this kid and we need more players like him. I hope he can come back. Many thought he was having a Pro Bowl year until the injury.

Christian Okoye was a monster and he gave us fits. The voice is great indeed, but Facenda is my favorite.

Has Wanny picked a new LB Coach
Bob in STL replied to BringBackFergy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If his family situation is as you say then he should start his career by being a high school coach. Florida has some of the best high school programs in the country. To think he could jump into NFL coaching is a big stretch. -
^ This is it. The team was old and tired. In the previous four years they played played what amounted to an extra season. I was at the home opener against the Jets. Attrition and injuries really impacted the RT position and forced Jerry Crafts to be the starting RT. He single handedly almost got Kelly killed that game. They rebounded thanks to some great moves by John Butler who brought in Wade, and Big Ted, and Bryce Paup which started a run of excellent defensive football for our team. Ironically, this defense was quickly dismantled by the alleged defensive expert and guru Greggggo Williams. (I still dislike that guy to this very day).

Aaron Williams Drafted then Andy Dalton
Bob in STL replied to Hsp08's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Talley made the Pro Bowl in 1990 and again in 1991. He is the Bills all time leading tackler and he never missed a game in 12 seasons. I sure hope we draft the next Talley this year. -
Aaron Williams Drafted then Andy Dalton

Dalton did a great job but Williams looks like a really good player too. After three seasons we can have this discussion. -
Players I don't think will be back

Parrish - agree he will be gone. McKelvin - he is under contract and will stay. He has all the tools in the world but his instincts are not that of a natural football player. Still, he can be coached up and will contribute. Corner - gone. The kids they drafted in 2011 are already ahead of him and they will draft another corner in 2012. Troup - not gone. One of Nix's primary picks in 2010. Unless his injury problems are so bad that he cannot play, he will get another year to show his stuff. Others that may be be gone: McGee - tank is running on empty. Bell - he could stay if he takes what is offered but with Nix saying he is going to draft a tackle this could mean that maybe he has no plan to make an offer. He will find another team that will pay him more than we will. Chandler - scary to think that we would not lock him up but we are the Buffalo Bills. Easley - injuries, questionable hands, and no NFL game experience could do him in as we are going to bring in more WRs. A bunch of current roster linebackers will be gone - we need to do a lot here to improve this cast. -
We still have a problem, although it is a good problem. We do not run the ball enough to keep Spiller and Freddy happy. Running backs need carries to become involved in the game. Sometimes it takes a few quarters and some patience to get the running game going. I did not see Chan committed and patient enough to get both of them involved on a consistent basis. The NFL is a passing league and we pass a lot. Both of these guys can put up huge numbers. Freddy was about to have a monster season until he got injured. We have just seen the tip of the iceberg on what Spiller can do and I think he will get even better as a runner and as a reciever. His speed brings tremendous upside. I guess the good news is that with Freddy and Spiller both healthy wwe may not see much of Mr. Choice again.

Tebow TD should have been called back!
Bob in STL replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agree. Not hard to do. If this was against the Pats* there would have been a flag. -
You seem to think that any GM could could Super Bowl with Manning? Look at the number of Pro Bowl players that Colts had those years and almost all were drafted by Polian. They made it there 2 times and they had to get past NE and Pittsburgh to do that (the three best teams were all AFC). Just two years ago they had a shot at an undefeated season with an unproven coach at the helm. A coach, I might add, that is a far cry from Belichek, Noll, Shula, Gibbs, Johnson or even Levy. Please remember that Miami won ZERO SBs with Marino and they had Don Shula as their coach. Fouts never won a SB either. Same with Esiason, Tarkington, etc. I agree that Polian should retire on top.

Wannstedt flew to Detroit to meet with Ralph

Well uh er, Mr. Wilson, I am sorry you never heard of me before but I will do my best to improve this defense sir. -
Mort still can't get over Donahoe firing
Bob in STL replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes all of our recent GMs - Donahoe, Levy, and Brandon/Jauron, and Nix have all done a better job of finding UDFAs then they have at finding impact players in the first 3 rounds. Maybe that is why UDFAs do so well in Buffalo, the competition here sucks? Maybe that is why we have not made the playoffs in a decade and why we have no pro bowl players? Thanks Mort. -
which former bill did you wish we didnt give away
Bob in STL replied to loserlovers's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The topic was let go for peanuts: Fred Smerlas -left as a free agent and was past prime. I actually wish we would have kept him, i think he would have help in SB 25. Today I consider him an obnoxious Patriot* wanna be and a Bills Traitor who's name should be erased from the Wall Cornelius Bennett - left as a free agent for big bucks and was past prime Will Wolford - Left as a free agent for huge bucks to a crappy team. Ralph and Littman would not let Polian sign him the year before free agency started. This was the real last straw for Polian and not that crazy story about Ralph's daughter. Antoine Winfield - on my original list and then removed. He left for big money Thurman Thomas - free agent was past prime and left for money Ted Washington - free agent, had some gas left but left for money elsewhere Pat Williams - free agent, had tons of miles left and should have been retained. London Fletcher - free agent, had miles left but was victim of regime change Coy Wire - only a special teams player, not a viable candidate Jabari Greer - free agent, had tons of miles left and should have been retained. Jim Leonhart - not as good as the safeties we had, move on from this shrimpo John Wendling - not as good as the safeties we had, bum Paul Pozlusny - we made him a fair offer and he left, not that great anyway -

Bob in STL replied to loserlovers's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The topic is "players given away for peanuts" ... I recall that Clements recieved one of the highest contracts ever for a DB, therefore I excluded him. We traded Lamonica for junk. We cut Yates. We let McDole go for nothing. We gave away Raschad because he wanted a $20,000/ year raise. Gogalak was not included becuase he left for big bucks as the first ever free agent. Gary Anderson (another kicker) was cut and he turned out to be one of the best ever. I included Pat Williams because we could have kept him for a reassonable amount and he really wanted to stay. I should take Winfield off of my list for the same reason as Clements. I will replace him with Greer who should have been retained at what would have been a great value (and would have saved us from drafting McKelvin).
