Really, you need this explained to you. By spouting off that he was “being treated like a Nobody”. The guy is the highest paid player on the team and he can’t stay healthy or in shape. He has a history of off-field mishaps and suspensions, making him unreliable. The coach has a rule on how injured players will travel with the team for a game. He breaks the rule, in effect testing the coach. The coach invokes the punishment, the same one others would get. I guess when you make $100M and have a few Pro Bowls you are entitled? Apparently that makes you a somebody? That makes you special? Instead he feels like he was treated like a Nobody. That is childish. The reality is the Bills paid an unmotivated guy with no leadership ability the biggest contract on the team. The new regime expects more. Heck, even Rex expected more. They really needed to clear that contract, even though Dareus is a good guy and a decent player. Dareus is in a good place for him. He can make big money while being the 5th best DL on the team. He can play 40% of the plays and he will only be used to do what he is best at. He won’t be called upon for leadership. He willl make some plays and be in an environment where the pressure is off of him. His Pro Bowl days are most likely in the past. I can still see him pissing off Marrone but maybe he has decided to grow up? We shall see.

Yes. The Jags looked like also rans dropping their last game of the season and squeaking by Buffalo 10-3 at home. After beating the Steelers twice in Pittsburgh it adds to their credibility. I think they will get beat up by the Pats* but I also feel better about our defense, especially the game planning aspect, on that side of the ball. Offense still stinks.

Ready to give him a chance. Another up and coming name in the NFL coaching circles. I thought he might stay at Alabama for awhile.
-
Wrong again. Our new OC is from the Belicheck tree and was recently hired by Nick Saban at Alabama. World Champs BTW. Bright young mind, innovative and willing to be an OC for the up and coming Buffalo Bills. Of course he probably has dreams of being a HC someday, but that did not stop him from taking a chance with Buffalo , a team with an unsettled QB situation. Buffalo is rising around the NFL.

Doug definitely left on his own accord. He and Schwartz were doing fine but he still had no qb, new rookie owners, a GM that he did not like, and an incredulous “out with pay” in his contract. He thought he had the Jets job. Maybe he was not impressed with the Pegula’s? He he got lucky just to land in Jacksonville, and his Bills experience got him the interim HC job. He got lucky again when Coughlin showed up. Coughlin has his hands in all of th3 football operations.

channel 2- Buffalo comments re alleged Incognito...
Bob in STL replied to KingRex's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Service economy = restaurants and fast food. Leisure and hospitality. = hotel maids and maintenance. Low end health care = nurses aides, etc. All pretty much min wage jobs or close to it. Not even close to the work I was talking about that will create and economic growth. So not fake. What would help is getting people off of unemployment and into these jobs. -
channel 2- Buffalo comments re alleged Incognito...

What is a “fringe European country”? That is ridiculous to say. Immigration from these countries came because we had a huge need and the opportunity was there. The European people in these countries where living in an oppressed and/or war torn environment. America needed workers back then. We had a vision of expansion - manifest destiny. Todays America is much different than what we had in 1900. The land is now taken, the infrastructure built, and the manufacturing jobs born from the industrial revolution are mostly gone. On top of that we have social programs that did not exist in 1900 that need funding and are strained. Today we simply do not have the jobs to support immigration in large numbers. We do need to be smart and selective. Future job growth will be based on our ability to Innovate through science and technology. Immigrants that can come here, assimilate, and thrive should be welcomed. But it cannot happen in the mass droves of the European immigration of early 1900. This does not make America rascist. Your stats on on the great performance of African Students - I don’t doubt that it isn’t impressive as a percentage but I don’t see it in my business as of yet. -
With this criteria the majority of teams would never hire a new OC or DC. This items are what most teams face. I expect they they will make a move at OC if they feel there is a better coach available, it’s that simple. You don’t have to give away your draft board to interview anyone. I find the the comment about McD not being a high profile coach that can lift others careers to be most inaccurate. He is the new hot coach. Expect young bright minds to want to work for him.

I think Alexander was one of the best guys on field in the playoff game. Would love over to see him play another season in any capacity.

Bleacher Report Ranks 3 Bills DT's as Worst in The NFL
Bob in STL replied to BuffaloRush's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don’t think our DT play was as bad as indicated in these ratings but in general our front seven is mediocre. We have trouble with strong running teams and had to sell out on the run to stop Jax. No way could we do that against Bres and the Saints. I think a DT and an LB will be high on the draft list. Hopefully we don’t use too many picks chasing a QB which of course is first priority. -
I needed a good laugh. Thanks.

Please stop. McGahee, Peters and Dockery took the money and ran. Tyrod took a pay cut, won his job back and led us to a playoff season. Losman and EJ were horrible players, not at the same level at all. If if you don’t want to thank him or credit him for anything fine, but don’t put him in that group. The guy got hit hard several times yesterday and laid it out for the team. He has the respect of the team, If you don’t think that he is worthy of anything fine.
-
Why “ask again” and why are you comparing Tyrod to Losman, Manual, Dockery and McGahee? His contributions to this team far outweigh the combined efforts of these guys. You don’t like him and can’t muster up any reason to note that his contributions helped put this team on a better track. Fine, move on.
-
Great post. Tyrod did his best and he laid it out there. It’s a shame there are so many negative comments from the “greatest fans in the NFL”. Tyrod has class, can’t say the same about some of the negative sentiments in this thread.

Rapaport: Expects Whaley to interview for GM job in GB
Bob in STL replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Whaley deserves another shot. I always thought his tenure was tainted by Nix (who really picked EJ), Overdorf, Brandon, Marrone, The Pegula's, and Rex. Who was really in charge of what an when? He made some nice trades and decent drafts. The EJ pick and the trade up for Watkins are the big issues for me. That and the bad contracts --- Who is really responsible for the Doug "out clause", the Dareus contract, the loss of home developed talent (Hogan, Woods, Gillisee). It appears Whaley did not have a good plan but there were so many people with their fingers in the pot. -
What do you think is Keys to the Game?
Bob in STL replied to Orlando Buffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Normally I would say we have to run and stop the run - both areas were Jax has the edge. So, I would say we need a big game from Tyrod. Ball control throws. We need to create turnover's by the defense too. -
Micah Hyde loves McDermott and Buffalo
Bob in STL replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've been saying it all along. McD is doing a fine job and he is still learning. Like all coaches do. Things looking up for the Buffalo Bills! -
No I shouted out loud.

Ryan Davis defending Poyer
Bob in STL replied to The Now Moment's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Great move by Davis. Drake ejection was perfect. I get McD on not taking stupid penalties, but let’s not get pushed around. -
I forgot about Suh. Either Suh did not play, or he ran for the bus after the first quarter. On the Landry TD run, someone on Miami had a Bill (I think it was 56 - Davis) in a headlock on the line of scrimmage ... should have been called back for holding. Then Landry went after Poyer but of course backed away when Poyer approached him. Then Davis kicked the crap out of Miami #32. Then 32 threw the helmet. then Incognito got kicked out for a minute. I think the rivalry is back.
