[Incomplete Title] As an admitted McDermott detractor
Bob in STL replied to cgg716's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am not happy with Coach McD today, usually I do not have this complaint but today I do. I do not get the Jauron comments, he is nothing like Jauron, but I think he blew the 3rd an 5 call on the series when we kicked the go ahead FG. I think that making the Jets use a timeout before the 2:00 warning was the better call. Sure a run play would have probably fell short but that timeout was important. Even worse was the decision to squib kick when we had the wind. Even worse is the illegal formation on a kickoff. The Jets started in great field position and crossed the 50 before the 2:00 warning. Terrible game management that McD is responsible for. -
Pregame thread: Wk 14 Jets at Bills
Bob in STL replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bills have very few weapons but playing at home, Allen improving, and defense looking good. Lets not let special teams and penalties stop us from a win. Bills - 27 Jets - 17 -
The rebuild really comes to a peak in the next offseason. How will they use the $90m in cap space wisely? Will they have a strong draft? It’s too early to grade the rebuild. Yes, making the playoffs while clearing cap space was good in 2017. The results of the 2018 draft, specifically Allen and Edmunds will be the keys to it all. There are are many holes to fill and depth is a problem. This loooks like a team being built for 2020’s.

RIP Isiah Robertson i remember those Chuck Knox teams foundly. Isiah was an excellent player.

Did you see Kiko flexing after he made a tackle? Hilarious, he looks good size for a high school player.

I only listen to those Palooka's after the Bills game while waiting to hear the post game interviews with players and McD. Yesterday Bulldog put the blame on Allen for throwing on "bad pass" on our last offensive play of the game. He said "that is what you get from Allen". Bulldog was upset because the ball was a not a tight spiral, claims that Allen should have set up better to throw a more accurate pass. The scramble and the athletic skills required to even make the throw mean nothing because the pass was wobbly. then he complained because his Twitter was blowing up from fans upset with his opinion. Are these guys the best that Buffalo WGR radio has to offer? They are terrible.

What is Clay doing 8 yards deep in the end zone?
Bob in STL replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
you need the primary and secondary targets to both be past the first down marker. Use one sideline and also cross the middle. Sending someone deep to clear the zone and pull a safety away is smart. I think we had a lot of guys deep because the Allen's scramble was so long and the receivers kept going deeper ... which is the wrong thing to do. The check down guy was on the other side of the field and covered. Our players are just not very good and even the experienced ones are not very football smart. Winning Team looks like this => Kelly had Reed, Lofton, Beebe, Tasker, McKeller, Metzellars, Rolle, Thurman, Davis, Mueller, and Garner. An arsenal of diverse talents. All of them could run, catch and block. Most of them had great football smarts. Three HoF players and one close to it. Losing Team looks like this => Poor Josh Allen has Benjamin, Jones, Foster, McKinzie, Holmes, Clay, Croom, Logan Thomas, McCoy, Ivory, DiMarco, and some other RB that cant ever block or catch. Underachievers, street free agents, a few aging players past their prime None of Allen's weapons could make the team that Kelly had except for McCoy and maybe Jones. -
We Are In Good Shape. Who Would You Dump Next Year?
Bob in STL replied to Irv's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Trust the process but not the OL. Groy, Miller and Mills are terrible. Counting back ups we need 4 new offensive lineman, 3 new WRs, 2 new TEs, pretty much all the running backs are replaceable. -
Winning games contributes to a winning culture. Games with 165 yards in penalties, turnovers, special teams gaffs, blown leads in the 4th quarter, failed comebacks … no they don't change the culture but maybe they can teach a young team some hard lessons. Still, you have to WIN to have a winning culture. --- And losing for a better draft choice is the worst.

Allen's Last Pass (12/2): Bad Pass or Drop?
Bob in STL replied to Gugny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Any pass that deep in that situation was at least decent. Clay was his usual non-factor. Slow to come back and help, slow to break to the ball, and he failed to make a big play, even though it was a tough catch of a wobbly pass. Worst players on the field that play were Groy and the guard helping him as they both failed to contain a single pass rusher making it impossible for Allen to step up into the pocket and buy time for the pattern to develop. I looked at the replay 20 times. Both edge rushers were quickly beating our OTs wide and at the same time that all the WRs were only about 5 yard down the field with their backs turned. Miami had coverage on a check down, coverage on the first down marker, and they had people deep. Deep was the best option, to bad Allen had to run all over the place to make time to deliver it. Our OL is woeful. That play could have been was a routine 12 yard out pattern with another WR crossing the middle between the deep zone and the first down marker. All it takes is protection against a 3 man rush. Groy is so bad he makes Bodine look good. -
Charles Clay- the most useless player ever
Bob in STL replied to NewEra's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Are you joking …this is not Sport Science practice. This was a real NFL game, end of the 4th quarter, throwing under extreme duress. Not only that but after getting two late hits to the head just before that, on the road, with the game on the line. Lots of people make that play in practice -
Charles Clay- the most useless player ever
Bob in STL replied to NewEra's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The catch was tough, mostly because Clay took a long time to come back and help his QB, he misreads the ball from the start. Yes the ball was a wobbler but come on and make a play. Clay is the poster child of a Free Agent reach. His big play contributions per dollars spent is very poor. As bad as it gets. The Bills have ~$90M in cap space next year - BUYER BEWARE. -
Dolphins 21 Bills 17 Postgame Thread
Bob in STL replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jordan made a good play, not a great play. The idea that he "deserves" to celebrate is just bizarre and its THE reason that undisciplined teams lose games. Why do players need to celebrate every single good play? Why do fans think that excessive celebrations are good? I like football because I like the plays, not the ***** that happens afterward. I have been watching since the 60's and believe me the game is not better because of all the celebrations. It is worse. The officiating was not consistent today and I think it was very poor overall. Still … I want players that understand not do stupid things. Jordan did something stupid. My problem with the game is that there were two hits on Allen, after the Jordan penalty, that were worse than what Jordan did, and they did not get called. In a league that is supposed to protect QBs this was completely inconsistent. Regardless, Jordan was wrong and he hurt the team. -
Second loss while allowing less than 200 yards...
Bob in STL replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You summed it up. Poor special teams and too many penalties. Add to that very inconsistent officiating. Young team, rookie QB, and this kind of stuff happens. -
MMQB: Who Is the Most Boring Team in the NFL?
Bob in STL replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Depends on who is winning and what star players they have. Right now the boring teams are: Cleveland (uniforms alone are boring), Titans, colts, cardinals, Texans, Lions -
Wow. That didn’t take long. Someone will sign him, doubt it will be Buffalo

The tax issue is a non issue for football players. For family oriented players Buffalo is a fine place to bring your family. Three things hold Buffalo back in the free agent 1. Losing teams and culture of constant rebuild. 2. Cold weather 3. Not a lot of glitz and nightlife. Fix number 1 and most of your problems are gone There are many players from cold climates and small towns so just build a winner that is run with class and dedicated to winning. Player that are enamored by hype and nightlife are not usually the best to have anyway.

What would you give for a OBJ or AJ Green?
Bob in STL replied to mozillameister's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
OBJ is a no. Green is on the wrong side of 30. Invest in the O- line. Keep Allen upright and safely in the pocket. Let him fire. There are lots of good receivers that could do damage given a strong armed QB with time to throw. It would be great to get a real TE threat and young RB that can catch and run.
