Bob in STL replied to BillyWhiteShows's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I heard he was under a lot of pressure, over 2,500 Newton’s per square meter, some days even more.- 103 replies

Bills fire OL Coach Juan Castillo
Bob in STL replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes indeed. I expected Juan to get a pass considering they did not really replace Wood or Ritchie. Well, I hope we can get a good replace. As for Crossman, I expect him to go next. -

Tom Sestak is missing. All Time AFL team. The best player on the Best Defense in mid 60’s AFL. -

I am surprised. I guess they think they have more to work with than meets the eye. -
Very good information. Thanks. Shows we have quite a bit of work to do. Most of it is addition of talent but some of it is learning how to win. That’s why tanking is no good. I was so glad to see us stomp Miami it end the season. Time to change the culture. Hopefully 17 and 49 start hating to lose.

Is Robbie Anderson worth a second rounder.
Bob in STL replied to formerlyofCtown's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No. Why not draft our own guy with a two? Find a better guy for “the process”. -
I would give them a few weeks to find Crossman's replacement. I expect Crossman to go. Jst say'in, I have read some sympatric comments for Crossman around the league. Our roster was so gutted of veterans that the coverage teams really suffered by the lack of talent. I doubt Castillo gets fired. He is villainized here but around the league he is well respected.

Bills sign Derek Anderson to extension
Bob in STL replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yup. Of course DA would rather be a player than a coach. He makes more $ than a first year position coach, gets more pay for playoffs, covered by the CBA union, probably adds to his pension too. You get a nice uniform and free laundry service. Who would not want to be a player? -
Bills sign Derek Anderson to extension

Yes, apparently so. Barkley should be spending his time staying ready to play at a moments notice. That is what good back ups do. On game day, if the backup knows the game plan and the opponent as well as the starter does, the backup can help a lot on the sideline and be ready --- just like Frank Reich did. Most teams have a number 3 that is a project, used to run the scout team, help other players gets reps, etc. For the Bills, Anderson will do that and also serve as a mentor it Allen. He may also be helping he OC with game planning and on field adjustments. Maybe DA is a very sharp guy and McD is going to groom him? Whatever DA brought to the QB room was liked by all. Once Allen takes the next steps we can bring on a project #3. For now DA has an important job in that role. Side note: Lots of people putting down Culley but consider he had to coach McCarron, Peterman, Allen, Anderson and Barkley all in one season. He had to run a three way competition with three inexperienced and unworthy QBs just to find a starter. Looking at the progression in Allen from his first game to his last game, looking at how quickly Barkley got ready and toasted the Jets, and then the work with DA, I would say that Culley did a fine job. Just because DA is staying does not mean Culley did bad. -

I was criticized by several posters here at the suggestion that Allen could benefit from a veteran mentor backup. This particular poster has since disappeared but went to great lengths to show my thinking to be obsolete. Well there you have it. The best thing that happened to Allen this year was the time off he got from the minor injury and the opportunity to work with veteran QBs who know the position. Bringing in an unproven stopgap in McCarron, then going with Peterman and Allen, all bad judgement by an inexperienced GM and HC. Lots of learning going on at One Bills Drive. -

Who Are You Rooting for the Rest of the Way?

I am rooting for Brandon Beane and Coach McDermott to become enlightened and draft great players, sign the best free agents at the right prices, and to continuously improve the coaching staff. -
So what is our final draft pick after today's win
Bob in STL replied to TucsonBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
8th, 9th, 10th … pretty much alL the same. With all the needs we have I fail to see a big difference. Just draft a good player, that can help us now, and has character. -
Post-game perorations - Put ‘em Here

People who think losing is a good thing just amaze me. Lots of great football players will be on the draft board when it is our turn. Tanking is just bad karma. -
I will be shocked if he finished his career in one piece. He is really building a reputation. This is not the 60's. 70's, 80's. Today's players have more respect for each others careers than he seems to want to acknowledge.

I think Lorax and Hughes are back. Shady, maybe not.
