Kansas City at Buffalo in the Divisional Round!
JohnNord replied to chongli's topic in The Stadium Wall
Joe Buscaglia is picking the Chiefs to win on a last second Butker field goal. He’s been wrong before. Hope that happens again -
Injuries never help. But I think Johnson is the most important player on the list. If we can get Johnson back it’s big. If Barnard SOMEHOW is active, even better. I feel comfortably with the depth on the rest of the players who are out
-
So you’re basically just picking favorites? Doesn’t usually work out that but hopefully for the Bills it does!

What is your gut telling you right now?

I was watching Hard Knocks when Miami was cleaning out the lockers and thinking “man, I hope this doesn’t happen Sunday.” It’s been a crazy season but I’ve enjoyed it -
The pass offense still doesn't look right...right?
JohnNord replied to QB Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall
Your eyes are fooling you…. I can’t only think of one play where he improvised and that was the third down pass to Diggs. He made something out of nothing. The rest of the time Josh seemed to be in control. I didn’t noticed this much during the game but Allen was blitzed on over 50% of his drop backs. He either got the ball out quick or took off and ran. This includes the 52 yd scramble and the Shakir TD - which wasn’t improvising as much as it was finding the hot read. It’s almost a certainty they bring back Brady. Also about the cheat motions…Brady ran a perfect one with Isabella in motion during the snap. He went around the RB attempting to catch a swing pass in the flat. Josh threw the ball low and out of reach. Is he catches that, it’s probably about an easy 20 yard gain. -
I would hate this idea when you have younger coaches on the staff who probably would be great play callers. If they fail, McDermott could already take over.

Man even though it’s the Dolphins it was sad to see their season at the hands of the Chiefs. I sure as hell hope that doesn’t happen Sunday night. I’m convinced that Mike McDaniel is Rex Ryan. He wants to be the players best friend and he’s also a big talker (not as charismatic though). This is all good once your winning but when you lose, those motivational pep talks loses impact. It kind of seemed like Miami knew they were going into Arrowhead to lose.

It’s all guess work - my guess this was derived from the banged up bills guy which goes back to my original point about him.
-
That banged up Bills guy does a. Good job spotting injuries but he’s wrong a lot of the time when it comes to returns. In the past month, he said that DaQuan Jones wasn’t going to be activated when he was. He also predicted that Rasul and Dodson were playing last week. The week before vs. Miami, he said Waddle and Mostert were going to play. Nothing against him, but he’s just making educated guess like a lot of us are and missing a lot of important medical information. Of course he’s a PT, so he has a much more informed take than the average fan but his estimates are still guesses and far from certain.

We all know there’s no way they give Tua a competitive QB deal. My guess is that the hope is to sign him to a Daniel Jones type deal with the option for an out. It’s a commitment but not one that kills the franchise if it doesn’t work out. He shouldn’t sign that deal and his agent probably won’t let him.

Bills release Fournette from the Practice Squad
JohnNord replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall
To be fair, he had a chance last week in Miami and didn’t do very much as a blocker or runner. He also didn’t help that much with Josh’s QB sneak. We all want to think of him as Playoff Lenny but he’s not that guy anymore -
The one that scares me is Taron Johnson in CP. It’s the second time this season. IIRC, he exited protocol fairly early. Hopefully that happens again.

This is why I don’t understand the experts here saying that Elam was burned. He gave up one catch in coverage and had 1 holding penalty that he later negated with an INT.

Bills release Fournette from the Practice Squad

Wow! -
He called timeouts at the end of the half because he wanted to get the ball back for his offense. This was obvious. As far as his other uses, in the Dunne articles the said that it’s a called a “kodak.” It gives the defense a look at the personnel and the potential the play the offense is running and an opportunity to match it best on defense. This is common among defenses, though sometimes I feel it gives the offense a chance to rest

I think this a change is definitely possible, and has been for weeks, but things aren’t as bleak as you make them out to be. Special Teams essentially changed the game against Miami and Sam Martin had been doing an excellent job pinning teams deep in their own territory. Then there was the fumble caused by Reggie Gilliam on a kick return that started a rout of the Jets. As far as the block last night, it did change the game. It seemed to me that it was more of a function of Bass kicking the ball differently resulting in a low kick that got blocked. It wasn’t related to coaching. The missed XP looked like a holding issue possibly related to the Martin injury. So it seems like your gripe is mostly with Bass who has not been great this year. Like I said, I can see the Bills replacing Smiley because of the moments you mentioned but ST’s have had their moments too.
-
How could you say he’s mentally screwed? His kick was blocked and he missed an extra point on what appears what a bad hold.

I went back and watched every Pittsburgh possession. You are right he played off a lot but I couldn’t find many opportunities where he was beat. I think overall he did a good enough where he can fill in if necessary
-
I just pulled up YouTube TV and went back and watched after the INT. He doesn’t play man so it’s hard to know exactly what his responsibilities in zone are as opposed to other players. But he didn’t really many plays where he straight up got beat. Pittsburgh seemed to target Dane Jackson more often. So everyone saying he gives up easy catch is basing that on his past and not what we saw last night.
-
To be fair, after the INT when was he beat?
-
This is the problem with officiating and the NFL rules overall especially when it comes to incompletions of fumbles. They over complicated things so badly that no one knows what a catch or fumble is anymore
-
IMO much like Miami, Dallas was always a very flawed football team that beat up on bad teams. Their recipe for success was to score early and then let the defense close out the game by wreaking havoc on the DL. This was never a script that would work against good teams as we saw vs Philly, San Francisco, Buffalo and now GB. The defense has Parsons who helped mask a lot of flaws but there really wasn’t anyone else to be concerned with. I like Dak Prescott a lot but don’t feel he was ever as good as his hype and that he took advantage of beating up bad teams too. Same with DaRon Bland, who set a record for pix 6 INT’s but is hardly a lock down corner. So outside of Lamb and Parsons you have a team of pretenders. After watching the Bills mop the floor with them and then Miami take it to them, I knew they were cooked and watched in amazement as some “experts” picked them to win the SB. I have a theory that all Bills fans knew the team Dallas was after the 31-10 blowout.
-
What happened to Philadelphia just boggles my freaking mind. I guess injuries played into it but they just seemed to slam right into a wall at 110 MPH. The team I saw last night, resembled nothing of the 10-1 SB contender. I watched them absolutely bully the crap out of Miami on a Sunday night game and thought how tough of a matchup that they would be for teams It’s just staggering a team went from looking that good to THAT bad in a span of a few weeks.
