Bills vs Jags Game Week Thread - MNF
JohnNord replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in The Stadium Wall
I’ve never been impressed with Lawrence but he seems to play his best football against the Bills! Hoping that ends Monday -
The best part is that Hill and Waddle were laughing and yucking it up on camera while Miami fans were having a meltdown online!

I get what you are saying but not sure if “click” is the right word. Josh personally loved Dorsey and went to bat for him as OC. The problem was that his offense seemed to promote Josh’s over-aggressive and reckless tendencies. That’s where forcing the ball to Diggs and Davis came into play. When these plays weren’t hitting the offense was in trouble and this was on display during the final 4 weeks of Dorsey’s tenure. I think Brady, much like Daboll did, does a good job utilizing the talent he has on offense on a week-to-week basis. I think Brady has a way to “reeling in” Josh too with the Payne calls. Long season but hopefully it stays this way.

I mean… are we actually arguing that soon-to-be 31 year-old Diggs is still “Him” but just isn’t being utilized in Buffalo and now Houston? Watching his performance in the AFC Divisional Game in January should have revealed that answer, but I digress. I remember seeing the charts from the guys who do the Reception Perception podcast, and it showed that Diggs’s vertical speed and his effectiveness in M2M coverage dropped last season. So while his targets and opportunities dropped, so too did his effectiveness which is almost certain for WR’s on the wrong side of 30. Is Diggs still a “good” receiver? Yes, I think he still is an elite route runner that is going to get separation. This is an area of his game that hasn’t really declined. But like we’ve seen over the past 12 games or so, it’s going to happen in the short-to-intermediate areas. He’s not going to dominate games or single-handedly dictate coverage the way that he had between 2020-2023. At this point, he’s best utilized as a second or third option in Houston - a role he wasn’t happy with in Buffalo. I also feel that Buffalo had every intention to keep Diggs for one more season in 2024 with Beane oddly placating his ego by calling him a “#1 WR” but then saying he was “grading on a curve” in the postseason which seemed to be a subtle nudge, The deal Houston gave them was good enough value to pull the trigger a year early, and rid them of a player who had worn on the team’s patience (also one who played his worst game in the most recent playoff loss.) Speaking of that… if Diggs was still an elite WR why would Houston void the rest of his contract rendering him to a 1 year rent-a-player? Seems like they had the same idea as Beane. All of this to say, I think people are fooling themselves if they still think Diggs is still the same player he was early in his Bills career and he’s just not getting the opportunities. But he also isn’t completely washed as some fans want to imply based on his pedestrian stats recently. There’s a looooong season to go, but over the course of the first 2 games the Diggs deal seems to make more sense. This could change. We’ll see

Strange thing I noticed about Mike McDaniel
JohnNord replied to steven50's topic in The Stadium Wall
Get it right…they are called Yoga pants! -
The “Sean McDermott is conservative” narrative is a bit of myth. He’s not the most aggressive coach on 4th down but is probably above average. In my opinion, they went for the 1st down because Miami’s offense has the potential to put points on the board and he wanted to give his team a chance to win.

Tua’s Broken Dome (now being placed on IR-out at least 4 games)

Or they just have common sense… -
The QB school - Josh Allen Week 2 analysis - JT O'Sullivan

Saw this on the replay. The ball hit the defender on the back. Samuel never had a shot at it -
The difference is that there’s not the same animosity with Poyer as there was with Thurman. If you listen to Thurman these days he’ll say he signed with Miami to spite Buffalo. I think for Poyer it was more about playing in his hometown of Florida

LOL It’s week 2. I don’t think any coach is getting “poached” from a two week sample size. Last year after the annual beatdown against Miami in Week 3, Ken Dorsey looked like he had a shot at becoming a HC.

Will Miami start taking calls on Hill?
JohnNord replied to RoscoeParrish's topic in The Stadium Wall
Wouldn’t Miami have to eat a ton of dead space? Also whoever traded for Tyreek would need to take on a contract for a 30 year-old WR reliant on speed. I can’t see anyone making this deal That was a very odd drive. Someone explained that McDaniel let the clock run on 2nd and 3rd down because he didn’t want to give Buffalo the ball back with enough to score. I think he also wanted to make sure they could leave the half with at least a FG bring the deficit down to 14. -
Technically you are correct but both the Baltimore and Bills game were kind of early season flukes. The Cowboys team of last season had a winning record but was very much flawed as evidenced by their first round beat down by GB. I think the larger point is the team’s record against playoff teams is very bad.

I’ve always said he was among the brightest offensive minds in the league but that there were some questions about him as a HC. Tua’s injury aside, I didn’t think he coached a very good game last night and it was the latest example of his team not rising to the occasion versus top competition.

It’s really long season and so much can change over the next 16 weeks. Taking things week by week
-
There were a few moments in the 2022 season where he looked a little slower but it was obvious in the 2023 preseason game versus Pittsburgh when Jaylen Warren ran right by him. This also was the game when Steelers fans convinced themselves Kenny Pickett was going to be HOF QB. To his credit, he seemed to play pretty well in the role near the LOS, despite some declining skills
-
Hate to say it but Rodgers looked pretty good throwing the ball and processing the defense. His WR’s let him down a couple of times and he’s a sitting duck if you get pressure. But if he gets time he is still really good.
-
McDermott never said that. He said TJ was out for Miami and he wasn’t going to discuss anything further. It sounds like a complete guess on his part.

Achane hurt his hamstring and will not be 100% healthy even if he plays. Besides wasn’t he healthy in Week 18?

Is Josh being asked to do more than ever this year?
JohnNord replied to KentuckyBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Read again. I never lack of talent….i said lack of “high-end” talent. Which WR on the team is WR1 caliber? -
Is Josh being asked to do more than ever this year?
JohnNord replied to KentuckyBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
You aren’t wrong… We saw this on display yesterday. They are missing high-end talent at the WR position. The same complaint I’ve had since moving on from Diggs. I had no problem with the trade but thought they should have done more to replace him. The main players Coleman, Shakir, and Samuels are solid complimentary options but not for your primary WR. I think the best chance would be to try to run the offense through Dalton Kincaid -
He started off really well and made a play on LaPorta in the endzone to prevent a TD. IMO he looks about the same as he did in 2022.

Daniel Jones leaving the stadium to intense heckling
JohnNord replied to SCBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
It’s too bad because I don’t think he’s a bad coach but they never should have given Jones that extension. It seemed like Joe Schoen wanted to move up for Daniels Maye. As good as Nabers might become I don’t think he was their top choice
