  1. I have the same concern at WR as you do and was hoping it wouldn’t come to this. But as pressures as Josh was today there were also times when no one was open downfield and this is a major concern to me. Shakir is a good receiver but outside of him, you have a bunch of JAGs at WR. Coleman is a rookie so I’ll give him a pass. But the Bills are getting nothing from Samuel, MVS or Hollins at WR. The lack of overall talent at WR bit them in the ass today and I worry it becomes a trend this year
  2. It just seemed too random for it not to signal “trick play” to the defense. Samuel never lines up in wildcat and Josh never is out wide. The execution was terrible but so was this play call
  3. You can argue they were playing their best football last season as well. Ultimately the difference in their loss was injuries and a “superstar” WR and K that failed in the clutch
  4. Every football team has tried to “bludgeon” the Bills nickel based defense. I remember when Tennessee was going to pound Henry and let Tannehill cook off play action in Week 2 in 2022. How’d that work out? The Bills usually have a plan. Lamar is Lamar. He’s gonna make plays but the Bills have kept him in the pocket and fared well against him in the past. The Ravens defense is far from the powerhouse they were under Mike McDonald. They’ve surrendered the most passing yards and don’t have a great pass rush. I’m not saying the Bills will win - it could go either way. But I don’t know how you could watch these teams the past 3 weeks and think the score will be that lopsided
  5. I would definitely take him. At this stage in his career he knows he’s a role player in an offense and he’d be a more effective option than MVS.
  6. I think it’s easily the best. McDermott seems to have grown into the CEO as head coach very nicely. The two coordinators are young, smart and bring new ideas. They also can relate to the players on the roster. Then you have some of the assistants - like Aaron Kromer (OL), Rob Boras (TE), Al Holcomb (LB) and Jamal Addai (DB) - who are doing a great job w/ player development. What’s most encouraging is that this team is ahead of the trends in the NFL on both offense and defense rather than chasing them
  7. It’s early in the season and Buffalo is 3-0 so far. I expect them to take it slow with both players. I would guess that Taron starts practicing in a limited capacity this week but don’t think he plays until Houston and I’d guess Bernard returns at home versus Tennessee Different injury though… also they put Brown on IR fairly quick and declined to do so with Bernard.
  8. It’s not really an equivalent situation though. Morse had multiple concussions over the span of his career starting in college. Tua had multiple concussions over the span of 2 seasons. We’ve seen Tua move into the fencing response on two of those concussions generally indicating more severe trauma. Not saying he should he retire but these situations aren’t the same
  9. Buddy Nix was a really bad GM. Every GM has hits and misses with the draft. What determines a GM’s success is what they do at the most important position on their roster - QB1… and he was completely clueless. He killed any leverage he had but telling the world he was drafting a QB both in interviews and in the famous leaked phone call. The selection of EJ was a complete reach in a very weak QB draft class. He probably was a 3rd-4th round talent with 1st round expectations and that was part of the problem. Still knowing this, Buffalo should have had a better option for a start than injury mid QB Kevin Kolb. Fitz had his issues but provably would have been a better option both as start or mentor. But that bridge was burned. To be completely fair though, we’ll never know if this was a Nix or a Whaley selection - as Buddy “retired” right after this draft.
  10. It’s so hard to predict. If you were to ask the average NFL fan in 2012 I’d guarantee the majority would predict Buffalo moving to Toronto
  11. The Dennison hire was completely odd annd never seemed like a long term from the start. Unlike Leslie Frazier he had no connections to McDermott. Also his West Coast offense was a poor match for a QB like Tyrod. McDermott gets a ton of crap got passing on Mahomes but it’s no wonder he didn’t want to place his coaching future with Rick Dennison grooming his franchise QB.
  12. This play is not surprising. Dodson’s best attribute was going straight downhill. Much like Dorian Williams, his instinct is always to take a step forward so he’d often be a step behind in play action. But it’s cool to see him elevate his game to a starting LB
  13. So your only metric for OC success is passing yardage? Brady ran the ball more because the defensive looks were dictating it
  14. The preseason narrative is overrated IMO. I the drop in passing had yardage has to do with how teams are electing to play defense. A good example is weeks And yes, I do think the Bills were ahead of the curve and a reason could be how much 2 high safety coverage they’ve been seeing over the past seasons.
  15. He was a FA last season and thought he’d be a fantastic player in Buffalo’s defense
  16. What could wrong!?!?!? Canales must be feeling a lot of pressure from Tepper already!
  17. Oh yeah… that was the famous Detroit thanksgiving game which saw him score a TD and catch one of Josh’s best passes. Good times! But think the Cincinnati game was the eruption and something had been going on earlier that season. Like I shared before, Diggs always did those midweek press conferences and for some reason they stopped making him available for weeks. I think this was around the time of the Detroit game.
  18. I mean…. Are we really reaching for Diggs’ value as a decoy to justify his worth? Collins production is relatively close to what he averaged last season. The problem is you can’t take the drama out of Diggs. That’s why he’s not in Buffalo. If Diggs was drama-free team player, he probably still be on the roster this season.
  19. This is a big part of the Diggs narrative. Many here will excuse his antics on the sideline as being “competitive” and wanting to win. That’s fine. But all that talk about being legacy and being one of the greats rings hollow when your number is called and you don’t deliver. Sadly, as great of a 4-year run as Diggs had the lasting impression with fans is the massive catch he didn’t make when they needed him.
  20. That true.. I just know the last time we played JAX he seemed to make a number of big throws including the bomb to Ridley over Hyde.
  21. True but there are some players who trashed the organization on the way out and came back into the fold years later with a different attitude. Thurman Thomas and Ruben Brown immediately come to mind
  22. Something happened during the offensive slump in the 2022 season. Things between the Bills and Diggs were the same again I feel the vibes around Diggs are very negative from the fan base and vice versa. In 10 years (probably more like 5) or so I believe both sides will fully appreciate what each did for the other
  23. His strength, which is route running is still good - that’s why he makes sense as a second or third option these days. But early in his career with the Bills he was very good at both contested catches and getting open deep. He was noticeably worse in both areas last season. You don’t think his lack of involvement had anything to do with his unhappiness?
  24. When did I say he’s “not good?” You’re kind of twisting my words. In a previous post I stated that he doesn’t have the same ability as he had been in the past which is hard to argue. I also don’t buy your argument regarding his contract. Diggs is on pace to have the lowest production since his rookie season. Do you honestly think that’s going to give him leverage on the open market? If he went into this thinking he’d get a massive contract at 31 while catching 4 passes for 36 yards per game, he’s in for some fun. Also explain how was the 2nd round draft pick considered “under” compensation? You seem to think he’s still an All-Pro when just about every metric, including his production this season, proves otherwise. Leave the memories alone 100% agreed. Though there’s some in here who are under the delusion that he’s 2021 Stefon Diggs
  25. What really forced Diggs was that Houston was willing to trade a 2nd rounder for a 31 year-old WR with diminishing skills. They proceeded to void the final years of his contract rendering Diggs a one-year rental. Sounds like a logical move for a “damn good” WR.
