Broncos, Ravens, Chiefs - Can the Bills run through this gauntlet.
JohnNord replied to Chaos's topic in The Stadium Wall
I’d move a few more players to good and a few below average to average. Overall though, this is the biggest area where you can criticize Beane and McDermott. They have a nice assortment of “good” players but not enough “great” and hardly any “elite.” Defensive line especially. I think the defense as a whole is better than than they’ve played the past few weeks, but yeah they aren’t going to win low scoring games -
I wouldn’t put that much stock into PFF grades. It’s not like he’s been a train wreck and he was a key reason why the Bills held Travis Kelce to one of the worst games of his career. An area where I have seen him struggle is getting off blocks in run defense. I don’t remember this being as big of an issue last season so I don’t know - other than the deft that at times the interior has been really bad this season. The other thing that’s missing is the “splash” plays. We saw a few like the game ending INT versus KC but they’ve been few and far between. I think Bernard will be fine in the playoffs. Not worth worrying about I feel their pain

Makes sense. If you throw this season out (and yeah that’s a huge “if”) his track record against big time QB’s has been pretty solid. -

Hence, why I said “no connection to McDermott.” Gotta admit, it’s a good idea on paper -
As long as he plays at a high level, I could care less what his hair looks like

I can see this happening in Week 18, but not on Sunday regardless of the standings -
There were so many positive reviews of Ladd pre-draft. I think what hurt him is that he’s mostly a slot player and Buffalo likely envisioned Shakir in that spot long term.

This is all but certain. There’s no connection to McDermott but I wouldn’t mind seeing Lou added to the coaching staff on defense. not sure what happened this season but he’s always been very good at defending big time QB’s - notably Mr. Mahomes That’s correct… perfect record otherwise as sickening as it is. -

All depends if KC rests their starters in Week 18. Pretty sure they will -
LOL it was 3 TD. I’m sure how that happened… long day man 🤣

Um….It was extremely obvious that I was only including receiving stats. To that extent, those numbers were 15 games. After today he has 59 catches for 638 yards and 6 TDs Still not that far off from Coleman, given the time he’s missed and the stage of his development Coleman’s receiving production is relatively the same as Worthy. He’s not the type of receiver that runs reverses for TD’s

Mikster your Jedi mind tricks are about as effective as the Houston Texans defense against a team above .500. Show me where I said “Beane sux.” If that means that Baltimore has more high-end I’d agree. If there’s an area I’d criticize Beane and McDermott it’s for finding a lot of good talent but not enough great talent. That Top-3, 1st team All Pro Player….you know like a Kyle Hamilton? -

Most playoff games are close. Not sure how Indy has any relevance in this argument, considering that Buffalo’s defense was the reason why they won the following week against Baltimore. Surely you’ll find some reason to discredit that win, I’m sure? Kansas City has beaten Buffalo in the playoffs. They’ve beaten almost EVERY team in the AFC playoffs with the exception of Cincinnati -

Of course they don’t - that’s because all of those players are on the defensive line. So if you’re definition of a “game wrecker” is a defensive lineman. Then yeah, they don’t have a “game wrecker.” Regardless a player like Hamilton allows Baltimore to do a lot of things that other defenses can’t. I’d agree with you that the weak part of the defense has been the DL. I don’t feel it’s a result of scheme or coaching, as much as it is players getting their butts kicked. Apparently Same! -

I’m calling BS again. There’s many people view Kyle Hamilton as the best safety in the league and I’m sure they’d put him on the game wrecker status. As far at the Bills players you mentioned - how many of them have ever been named to an All-Pro team? 1 - Taron Johnson 2nd team 2022 Now do the same thing for the Ravens. Again your assertion that it’s all “scheme” is incorrect. Not saying it’s a guarantee. I just don’t think it’s as impossible as the two of you make it sound. Baltimore’s a very good defense -

You’re right - they are a team of JAGs on defense 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 You already are eating crow over your Texans defense take. Get ready eat some more in a few weeks You have a wonderful imagination -

JohnNord replied to Chaos's topic in The Stadium Wall
LOL I’m calling BS on that claim. Baltimore’s defense 100% does have a game wrecker named Kyle Hamilton who is all over the field making plays. 2023 First Team All Pro Oh they also have Justin Madubuike who was a 2023 second team All Pro and top 5 DT Also Roquon Smith was who a 2nd team 2022 All Pro and a very good LB There’s also Marlon Humphrey who was a former All Pro CB. He’s good - not playing at that that level but still. To pretend they don’t have taken and that their success is a result of “scheme” is factually incorrect. -

Great gift but man, Josh’s hair is starting to look ridiculous

You sure about that? Their secondary gives up more yards to WR’s than any team in the NFL. Teams are going to move the ball on Baltimore through the air in the postseason. If you think there‘s any chance Terry is going to fire McDermott after a playoff exist, please study the current state of the Buffalo Sabres. McDermott is safer than anyone at One Bills Drive not named Josh Allen. -
Priority Free Agents for Buffalo? Early Draft talk..
JohnNord replied to Victory Formation's topic in The Stadium Wall
This is true and perhaps that’s the problem because McDermott really has never had a great 1 Tech. The closest has been Star Lotulelei who was average at best and maybe DaQuan Jones for 4 games last season. -
There’s a common behavior among some Bills fans - whenever a former player has a modicum of success, it elicits extreme lament and cognitive dissonance resulting in statements like: ”WE NEVER SHOULD HAVE TRADED HIM.” It doesn’t matter if it’s Xavier Worthy, Isaiah Hodgins, Tim Settle, Tyrod Taylor, John Feliciano etc. This thread is a prime example of this behavior
-
This is the move I wanted Beane to make and I thought Thomas closer to the Nabers, Odunze, Harrison Jr than he was the second tier of WR’s. It makes you wonder whether they actually had an opportunity to trade up high enough for him, or whether they deemed the price was too high.

Keon has almost as many yards as Worthy does
