  1. I disagree..... Gailey was a very bad hire which is why he was canned four year later - and really should’ve been fired after year 3. Keep in mind at that the time there were a number of big name coaches available in college and NFL - as well as your usual “hot” coordinators. Who did Ralph hire for one of the most important roles in the organization? The unemployed coach sitting on the couch for two years because no one wanted him. The only good thing you can say about Chan is that he put together a good offense with limited talent that was fun to watch. As a head coach he was terrible. 100X worse at game day management than McDermott who is much maligned by the fan base. Chan also was bad with coaches. Refused to fire George Edward when he should have and then when he did fire him he replaced him with an incumbent coach (Wanny) who was part of the problem. Chan = great guy. Good OC. HORRIBLE HC
  2. That’s partially true... RCW or Littman were notoriously stingy when it came to coaches. Not just with salaries but also with relinquishing any power. Coaching and scouting staffs were very thin - likely because whoever pulled the purse strings was cheap AF. Not a problem with the Pegulas as owners years later. The salary cap was well established by this time. They Bills spent on free agent they just picked the wrong players and gave them bloated contracts. Marty likely would not have a say in this process so you could be right
  3. Its very possible though I do feel that Ralph had final say on a lot of major issues like coach and GM. I don’t think Buddy Nix is named GM in 2010. By then Ralph only wanted to hire people that he personally knew to run the team. If Russ Brandon truly had the power to hire a GM, I don’t think he settles on Nix. Think back to the drought years - especially lost Donahoe - because Ralph horribly mismanaged the Bills so badly
  4. Thats true. He wouldn’t have last long term but I think it really is telling that Ralph Wilson was more “comfortable” hiring a re-tread, unproven, and non-threatening head coach in Chan Gailey then he was hiring someone with the track record of success like Marty. I hated the Nix and Gailey hires right from the bat. It was clear that Ralph didn’t care about putting a winning product on the field - though he cared about the Benjamin’s
  5. Kind of a random assortment of players with no connection to one another, other than the fact that they are all football players
  6. I came across this info on Twitter today. Sad new for Marty Schottenheimer as it appears he has been moved to hospice from his issues with dementia. Someone shared this article from Tim Graham in 2010 where Marty said he wanted to be the Bills HC with Buddy Nix (who he worked with in SD) Ralph for some reason was not comfortable with him and would never consider it. If Marty is HC in 2010 do you think he turns around Buffalo? If you look at his record, he was able to turn around every franchise, with the exception of his 1 year stint in Washington. I also always found it to be odd that he he never was given a second chance in the NFL after going 14-2 as the top see in the AFC. https://www.espn.com/blog/afceast/post/_/id/9487/marty-schottenheimer-wanted-bills-gig
  7. Interesting idea but who gives up two #1’s to begin with for Carr?
  8. Ive thought about Deion Jones in the Bills defense before. He really is the perfect player. I don’t really know why Atlanta would trade him but I feel he would fit in really well. I’m all for letting Edmunds walk.
  9. That is my view. When he started Tua it should’ve been all about the future. They should have thrown him out there to sink or swim. Miami fans will lead you to believe that he was coached conservatively. I just think Chan called plays based on his ability - which at this point in his career is limited. I thought that pulling Tua was a terrible idea. Not keeping him on those situations eliminated any insight as to how he’d perform in those situations
  10. That’s a different situation. No one has gone the co-coordinator route because it probably doesn’t work. Miami interview some good candidates at OC like “Pep” Hamilton and Matt “Blame” Canada. Glad they went with these two. Now, time to sell continuity to the fan base!
  11. I guess we have some Sammy truthers here. What’s next bringing up his value as a decoy? Some things never change. I was responding to the ridiculous comments where someone put Sammy in the same category as Kelcie and Hill Then you said he “went off” in a postseason game. I have the stats to show the the didn’t. He took advantage as a deep threat playing as the 3rd (or sometimes 4th) option in an offense with Hill and Kelcie. Sammy at best is a #2. He was supposed to be Tyreek Hill. Not the guy who benefits from Hill’s attention
  12. I thought that finding Tua a good OC was going to be imperative this season. The co-OC’s seems pretty stupid
  13. When he’s healthy he’s a good 3rd option on a team with Travis Kelcie and Tyreek Hill. Sammy never “went off” in a playoff game. He did put up WR2 stats. 2 catches for 76 yards against Houston 7 catches for 114 yards and a TD in the AFC Championship game. 5 catches for 98 yards in the Super Bowl. Putting him on the same level as Kelcie or Hill is straight up goofy.
  14. You can say the same thing about just about anyone on their roster. At this point in his career, he’s hardly a player teams need to game plan for. Let Sammy Watkins beat a team, go ahead
  15. Sammy Watkins? He’s nowhere near in the same league as the rest. If anything Mecole Hardman is better
  16. I saw this on my timeline....can you please explain to me who in the blue hell Matt Vanderame is? It seems that he’s a blogger which is the equivalent to a site like Buffalo Rumbling. Hardly Adam Shefter here. But he’s probably right. Milano switched agents and he’s gonna paid. If I’m Buffalo, I look into getting rid of Tremaine Edmunds and using the money that we planned to allocate toward resigning him, to Milano. IMO Edmunds will go down as Beane’s biggest draft miss
  17. I still don’t like the Loser Bowl idea. After teams lose, any game after would seem like a moot point. “The Super Bowl is next week - oh, and by the way you can see last week’s losers compete for 3rd place!” The incentives make sense on paper but is a salary bonus enough to make fans want to watch? Probably not. Also the draft pick isn’t very incentivizing to players who likely won’t be there next year. I just think it’s pointless to play a 3rd place game. This isn’t the Olympics. Every team play to be the champion, one that’s over...it’s over. This is probably why none of the major sports in the US have entertained the idea - its anti-climactic and really just not good.
  18. Whats the point? Yeah the Pro Bowl sucks but I have no interested in seeing the teams that didn’t qualify for the Super Bowl playing in the Toilet Bowl
  19. I would love to see Chiefs knocked down a peg
  20. I think a lot of fans feel the same. I’m cheering for Tom Brady to win, yet again, another Super Bowl
  21. The Bills have a smart front office and they knew that contract would likely be an issue before they traded. They also know that Diggs needs clear communication which he didn’t have in Minnesota. When they renegotiated his deal, I would be shocked if Beane didn’t discuss their plan on regards to an extension. That’s what I think. If he puts up another 100 reception season and if the Bills are one of the best teams again, I can totally see it
  22. It all depends on the options presented. Considering how close the team has come to the Super Bowl this season, I wouldn’t entirely rule out a big move. I also know that the Bills probably won’t have the flexibility cape wise to make big these big moves. I would guess that like last year, we’ll see a few mid-tier FA signings - just less in frequency. I’m not anticipating a trade up but can see the Bills moving back a few picks in round 1 for an additional 2nd or 3rd round pick But I also would’ve be shocked to see the Bills use pick 30 for a home run hitting offensive weapon like a Travis Etienne is he’s available...who knows?
  23. I would definitely agree that the lack of running efficiently is due to personnel on the Offensive Line. There are few dominoes that will need to fall: 1. Do you bring back Daryl Williams. If he’s resigned, the Bills have a RT that can play in a power running scheme. If not, see #2 2. Where does Cody Ford play? My guess is guard but if Williams is gone they may try to run him at tackle as a replacement which is the wrong spot IMO. If they do keep him at guard who steps into RT? 3. What happens to Mitch Morse? 4. Is John Feliciano worth resigning?
  24. Reading the write up, made me think of the Week 6 matchup with KC. The Bills were in Dime and dared KC to run the ball, which they did. It seems that the tables were turned this week but the difference is that the Bills couldn’t run the ball. That and the fact that the KC defensive backs were extra physical, taking advantage of lax postseason rules. If anything McDermott’s “speed and physicality” comments seem to indicate the need to add to a roster that can beat KC: OL/DL/CB/TE He has a $9 million cap hit so he likely will be gone. I hate to see this too because he had such a great year in 2019
  25. I’ll take your word for it, but the fact that he left out “did” makes it sound very awkward. How often do you hear someone says “He’s not as a great as I” as opposed to “He’s not as great as I am.” That latter would seem to be correct. Maybe I’m just biased from his smugness in the post game interview, but hearing him say that didn’t sound correct as I was assuming it some kind of error
