Urban just can’t quit Tebow! (Update - Cut by Jags)
JohnNord replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The hatred of Tebow is so toxic. It’s funny how some on Twitter with references to empathy, tolerance, and equality on their profile have not problem bashing Tebow for his religious views. Whether you agree with that view or not, he’s regarded as someone with high character that has helped others in need. Unlike other athletes, no one has ever accused of him or being performative or not genuine. The fact that his old college coach gave him an extended tryout should’ve be surprising. You see nepotism happen all the time in the NFL. As far as his playing ability, it’s clear he never had the skill to play QB at a high level. Watching teams like NO try to use Taysome Hill does make you think that a coach like Sean Payton could’ve found a way to use Heisman Tebow from 2009. -
This is actually a good point. While I wouldn’t consider KC to a “paper Tiger,” and expect them to contend for the AFC again, I do think they played their best football game of the season against Buffalo in the AFCCG. They didn’t look anywhere near as good in the other two post season games or down the stretch of the season. Saying they were “bored” is a lazy excuse. I can’t ever recall the Patriots being “bored” as the season wore on. Again - I’m not saying that KC is overrated but if you follow anyone of the analytics crew - they constantly preach about point differential from the previous season

UB Bulls popping up all over on Thursday
JohnNord replied to BobbyC81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I’ve seen a lot of good press from Philly about the performance of Jackson this year. I think he makes the team…hopefully he gets a shot. -
Whatever. I wouldn’t say that it sucks. Just that I know I wouldn’t get the value out of a subscription. I pay for the Athletic and have always shared summaries from articles that I felt would be interesting for other members, without trying to shame them for not being subscribers There’s 87 pages! I must have missed that.

That might be her role now but I do believe that they hired her to be a team “reporter” like Chris Brown.

So Cynthia basically is replacing Maddy Glab or taking most of the important duties away from her It doesn’t appear to be the case

Or her contract with NFLN wasn’t renewed….

Addison appears to be mentoring the defensive ends in Buffalo. He seems to be the type of leader/mentor they want in the locker room. Plus I am thinking the team is betting on him having a larger impact as a situational player rather than an every down DE. Cutting Addison would not be consistent with the moves that Beane & McDermott have made over the past few years

You’re 100% right about the downtown stadium. They talk about it on the podcast. The problem is the infrastructure downtown probably could not support the stadium which means they’ve have to start from scratch and it would be too expensive to justify. That’s the reason why they are building in Orchard Park. The open air part is a little unclear to me. It seems like it would benefit the county more with an option to close the roof. My guess is that they want to keep the same football environment. My bad… that’s what I meant

I’ve been of the mind that the Pegula’s aren’t going to sell the team and I feel that the ridiculous public funding was an attempt to aim high at the start of negotiations - though one that was somewhat tone deaf. In the Tim Graham show linked below, Timmy and Matt Fairburn share some pros and cons about whether Terry and Kim would actually move the team. Why them might move the team - Terry is best friends with Stan The Man Kroenke who essentially gave the middle finger to St. Louis and moved the team after they bent over backward for him. If he’s taking direction from Stan, it might not bode well. - The price of oil has gone down and the Pegulas are not as valuable as they once were years ago. - The poor handling of the Sabres and downsizing has fostered some ill will toward PSE and Buffalo. Kim and the children are very aware of the negative perception. If they are on the fence could this be a deciding factor. - MONEY. PSE can make a lot more money relocating to a bigger market. Greedy NFL owners and perhaps the league itself would welcome one of the smallest market teams in the NFL moving to a larger one Why them might NOT move the team - The Pegulas still have a substantial investment in the Sabres and downtown Buffalo. It probably wouldn’t make sense to get rid of the Bills with the other properties. - Terry and Kim have relished the role of “savior” of the Bills fans and have made numerous commitments to keeping the team in Buffalo. It doesn’t seem like they have the interest of the stomach to be the villain. - New York State and Erie County seems to understand the value that the Bills bring to the area. This could influence their openness to providing more public funding than they would have in the past. - The Bills have disputed the $1.1 million dollar figure which was reported by BN. Overall an interesting discussion. Fairburn also shares why Austin has become the new “boogeyman” and the reasons why the Bills need a new stadium in OP

…if for not other reason, Jerry Jones doesn’t want a 3rd NFL team in Texas

Mission Minnesota - The Bills 1991 Preseason
JohnNord replied to JohnNord's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Anyone know what happened to Reggie Rogers? It seems that he was a player the Bills brought in to improve the interior DL after getting gashed in SB25. Pro Football Reference has him appearing in 2 games for Buffalo and registering 2 sack. I’m guessing he was cut in season? -
Almost 30 years to the day, channel 4 put out this special in the 1991 preseason called “Mission Minnesota” which covered the Bills preseason and their attempt to return to the Super Bowl. It hosted by Van Miller who does a really good job Among the interesting notes from the 1991 preseason: The big addition to the lineup was Reggie Rodgers a troubled ex 1st round draft pick who didn’t make the roster. The Bills went into the season banged up with Kelly, Bruce, and Leon Seals all nursing injuries. The team was counting on WR Vernon Turner to be the explosive KR that Al Edwards wasn’t. I don’t think he made the team. There’s also a fun video about the “new” trend of fantasy football! Check it out

It’s an ok signing. Not the game changer some of you make it out to be. He didn’t have any impact in the playoff game last season

Maybe if this was 2014…

Bills Defining Moments The 2015 Season
JohnNord replied to corta765's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There’s no doubt about it. After an excellent 2014 season, the expectations for Gilmore were really high and his play declined in 2015 and 2016 to the point where he was merely average to slightly above-average at best in most games. Because of his bad play and on-field famous finger pointing fans were ready to move on from him in 2017.
