I think Tyrod gets too much credit for “ending the streak” and don’t feel he deserves any credit for Allen. In 2017, he threw for a modest 14 TD’s that year and struggled to pass for over 200 yards. He was a very safe QB but feel several QB’s could have done the same. The culture turnaround was all McDermott. If you credit any players then it should be Kyle Williams and Lorenzo Alexander. I disagree. Orton wasn’t the problem that year. The Bills defense failed in Oakland which is what screwed their season Never started a game for the Bills Billy Joe never started a game for the Bills. They released him before it got to that point

I’m not sure any GM/coach prior to Beane & McDermott ever had a vision. Maybe Rex Ryan who wanted to recreate the 2009 Jets defense and win with smash mouth football. The rest just seemed to randomly stack talent

I don’t completely agree. Make no mistake about it - The Bills were more than “entertainment and friendly competition” for Ralph. Ralph and his colleagues cared very much about the bottom line when it came to the Bills which is why he was so frugal. He wanted to maximize as much of a profit as possible. Everything you said about Ralph could be true but that doesn’t change the fact that during the last decade of his ownership of the team he really tarnished the franchise badly with his decisions and caused a lot of disappointment for fans who invested their time and money in his “entertainment and friendly competition” That’s the one thing you have to commend the Pegulas for and the opposite of Ralph. If a coach or GM wasn’t working, they wouldn’t keep them around to save money. Instead they would eat a contract and move on. As far as McDermott’s hiring, Doug Whaley takes credit for getting him an interview and has claimed to be the one who ran the HC search.

Yes can be appreciative of Ralph’s contribution to the organization while acknowledging that as an owner he destroyed the organization after Tom Donahoe left. In my opinion, the issue was not just about money with Ralph…it was more about power and control. After Donahoe Ralph refused to hire anyone he didn’t personally know. That how we ended up with Marv Levy, Russ Brandon, and Buddy Nix in leadership positions. It seems that Ralph also wanted to be involved in decision-making, which is understandable to an extent, but at some point you have to let your leaders lead. Not only would Ralph not pay a big contract for a coach/GM, he never would have given them the autonomy that they crave

It’s a complete 360 from the way the organization had been run post-Tom Donahoe. This is where I think Ralph Wilson deserved and enormous amount of criticism as owner. The men he put in charge of football operations is straight up offensive. None of these four were real GM’s: - Marv Levy - Russ Brandon - Buddy Nix - Doug Whaley Of those four, Whaley was the best by a large margin though I would argue his ceiling is director of pro personnel. He has no clue how to build a team or lead an organization. Nix never should have been a GM and was terrible, though he at least worked in the front office. Marv Levy and Russ Brandon had NO business making any football decisions. Another example of how Ralph tarnished this franchise

Good interview though it was kind of awkward how the entire interview was done standing and walking. I guess it’s different but I didn’t care for it

The 2017 off-season is always interesting to me - especially everything that happened before Beane. Some will contend that McDermott was calling all of the shot when it came to rosters. Other like Whaley and Monos will say that they were still acting GM’s as they had been years prior. It makes you wonder who was really behind the signing of Hyde and Poyer? Was it McDermott? Or Whaley? Another big move was declining the 5th year option on Sammy Watkins. You can argue that picking up option might have been the better move, especially if they had planned on trading him. They could get more for someone who wasn’t a complete rental. The Bills also f’ed up the FA compensation formula as well. Had they been smarter about their FA signings, they could have come away with a compensatory pick for Stephon Gilmore. Whaley and Monos have said otherwise, but all the moves IMO have McDermott’s fingerprints on them.

Don’t sleep on Cole Beasley in this game. He could plays a big role

Watt has been playing very well both at DE and inside at DT. I think he’d be awesome in the Bills defense though it always made me wonder how they could fit him under the cap

I went back and reviewed the game and the reason the score was so lopsided was mainly because the Bills turned the ball over and gave Tennessee the ball on short fields, which to their credit, they all turned into TD’s. The defense also struggled badly against Tannehill when he scrambled and had no answer for AJ Brown. Surprisingly, they did ok against Derek Henry. Had they made a stop before the half, to prevent the 21-10 deficit, it couldn’t been a different game in the second half. I think a lot of this was due to injuries on defense. Instead, Josh seemed to be in that mode where he tries to do too much. Because of that he passed up a short completion and threw a bad INT to put the game out of reach

Sounds like the Tennessee defense is a lot like Washington. Some good players in their front 4…marginal players on the rest of the defense. Could be another Cole Beasley game

I’ve thought about this as well and also have no idea. Like some other fouls, it seems like officials are only flagging the most blatant and obvious examples. There looks to be pick plays on many routes when receivers are lined up next to each other

I wouldn’t say paper tigers, but I did think that their struggles toward the end of the season could be indicative of a bigger problem in the playoffs. I never bought the fan base excuse that they were “bored.” Unfortunately we had to wait until after they beat the Bills for them to play terrible but there were signs of weaknesses before then. Unfortunately Mahomes along with Hill and Kelce, to a lesser extent, cover up a lot of issues Watkins was injured half of the time in KC. He was active last season in the Super Biwl and it didn’t make a difference.

This is completely true. Sorensen reminds me of a Mark Kelso or a Jeff Wright. Players who weren’t really great but that you didn’t notice because they were never relied on thanks to the around them - or in this case, the talent on offense. Once you realized you should’ve upgraded from them, it’s usually too late

I’m all for bringing in anyone to help boost our chances in the postseason. I think the ship has already sailed on Ertz though. He would play the same role as Knox without the downfield speed (for a TE) and doesn’t offer much in blocking. Using Ertz as a 2nd TE would also take one of our productive WR off the field. I guess he could spell Knox but Dawson’s already playing a lot of snaps. So for the amount of usage that he’ll see as Knox’s replacement, I don’t think I’d give Philly a 4th

I think we are missing some context of the story. The fact that he’s calling him “Mr. Editor” is a little weird Most of the “NFL Insiders” are like Jason LaCanfora or Ian Rapaport. You see this all the time during hiring season for coaches. Surprisingly candidates who belong to the same agency suddenly become “hot” candidates
