I love Beane and McDermott but it seems to me like they overvalued and overestimated their roster. They placed lot of faith in players on last season’s roster to shore up some of the weakness of the last season. In most cases these players are less effective than last season. OL: Dion Dawkins, Cody Ford, John Feliciano, Daryl Williams DL: Star Lotulelei, AJ Epinesa, Jerry Hughes, Mario Addison, Harrison Phillips RB: everyone but Taiwan Jones The only area of concern in the off-season who has met expectations fairly well is Levi Wallace at CB2. He has not been great but he actually has gotten better.

When has a running backs coach ever made a significant difference? The problem is both the line 1A and our backs 1B
-
I agree on the talent but I also the weakest area of play (Offensive Line and Running Back) are also prime examples why the Bills stall out toward the redzone. Teams are keying on Allen to take away his running and flooding the endzone with defenders. Not having to defend against a threat of a run game out the team at a huge disadvantage. the run calls near the goal line make sense, but the Bills can’t pull it off, even with a numbers advantage

Maybe you are right about sequencing of plays but the stats tell a different story. Allen was 30-51 for 270. The Bills threw 51 times and with only 15 running plays for their RB’s. So not sure where you’re getting run-run-pass from, it’s not possible given these splits. Singletary actually had one of his best performances with 11 carries for 72 yards. If anything you can make the argument they should have run a few more times. I don’t think it was a result of a conservative game plan, as much as it was Josh struggling to figure out 2 high shell under significant duress. This also happened against Jacksonville, and parts of Indianapolis and New England and plagued them all season in the redzone. This is is why trying to develop some sort of run game in these situations is not the ridiculous idea some make it out to be This is the biggest fallacy to develop from the Bills game. People assume McDermott wants to “ground and pound” and coach defensively and I really don’t think that’s the case. He wants to be able to run the ball when the offense gets good running looks. That helps create a little more balance which should help our little out a little in the pass game as well. Also do you notice how bad our line struggles to pick up short yardage for first downs? That’s the physicality I believe McDermott is talking about. I’m pretty sure he knows the type of team he has

Beane needs to spend serious resources on the OL
JohnNord replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall
Anytime you re-sign a player drafted toward the top-to-middle of the first round, a team is likely looking at giving them Top 5 money for their position. That’s why there’s been some hesitance over Edmunds. Yes he’s been good to great at times, but is he consistent enough to earn that kind of money? I’m guessing the Bills think he is. They have a bit of time on Oliver. I’m certain they will pick up year 5. But they may have a similar dilemma next year with him as well -

Of course, but it’s a cap issue. You can save $3M by cutting Morse and next year the Bills can get out of the Williams contract. If he isn’t playing RT than he’s an overpaid guard. They will need to clear his cap space (as well as Feliciano) if they want to give new deals to players like Edmunds or Oliver -

Morse is going to be a tough call in the off-season. He has 1 year left on his deal. I think it’s either going to be Morse or Williams that get cut -

…and yet he’s probably the best lineman on the team -
This is where I am. I’ve been getting so worked up this season during games that it almost hasn’t been fun. When they lose, I literally lose sleep. And for what? It really doesn’t have any effect on my life - at all. I’m not at the point where I can say a bad loss doesnt ruin my day but I’m getting there
-
That’s what drives me crazy about the McDermott critics. There’s a reason why he wants to establish a run and it’s not because he wants a “ground and pound” offense, It’s because it would be advantageous given the looks they are getting on defense. It would also help take teams out of Cover 2. They've tried throwing 40-50 times against the looks defenses have been giving them. Then again, they don’t have the personnel on offense to make defenses pay. It’s a tough spot for the offense to be in - not sure there’s an answer this year. because Terry Pegula is so great at rebuilds
-
He played and started yesterday. It’s just that he had no impact like the rest of the Bills DL
-
Hate to say it….but I agree
-
Two weeks ago I would say there was no chance at that happened but man he was pissed at the offense. But I also think there’s a lot of issue with players not playing well. Not so sure that’s Daboll but we’ll have a clear picture soon
-
I mean you can complain all you want, but it’s never going to happen. Hate it or love it, McDermott is going to the teams HC over the next few years at least. Also after what happened with the Sabres do you really want Terry and Kim to hire another coach/GM
-
I don’t like Sully but I also didn’t have a problem with the question. He had a point. The defense couldn’t get NE off the field. I think Hyde was being a bit too sensitive, it was a bad performance
-
Can we put this to rest? McDermott has a deal until 2025. There is 0.0 chance he’s getting fired. Why even complain about it.
-
Haha very true
-
Still gonna feel that way if the Bills lose? I think it’s time for a dome
-
This is extremely frustrating when you consider that Klein, who wore a mask at the podium a few weeks ago, likely wasn’t vaccinated. He could miss 3 games now. 🤦🤦🤦

I was reading up on Notre Dame’s recently named head coach head Marcus Freeman and saw that he had a brief career in the NFL. One of his stops was in Buffalo: Buffalo Bills Freeman was signed to the Buffalo Bills practice squad on September 22. He later was released in early October. You can put him along with Kliff Kingsbury in the category of former Buffalo Bills alumni…sort of

Patriots at Bills: Game Week Thread (v2)
JohnNord replied to BuffaloBillyG's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yep I hear you… it’s a huge game. The whole thing if the Bills lose Monday and then against Tampa, they can still finish at 11-6 or 10-7 and probably make the playoffs. If the Bills lose though, I think it will take a mental tool and wouldn’t be surprised the season will start to unravel a bit. Im super nervous but win or lose, it doesn’t really affect my life very much. I keep trying to put things into perspective
