Is There So Little Love for Tremaine Edmunds?
JohnNord replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall
I haven’t always been the biggest fan of Edmunds but I’ve come to accept what he is at LB. He does a great job in the passing game both in coverage and taking away passing lanes. As a run defender he is probably average - he’s a bit inconsistent where he’ll make plays but also struggle to get off blocks. Also prone to moss tackles from time-to-time. I get the polarization of the fan base though. It’s easy to tell when Edmunds is blocked out of a player or misses a tackle. It’s harder to noticed the ground he covers in the passing game -
49ers trade RB jeff Wilson to Miami
JohnNord replied to BuffaloBills1998's topic in The Stadium Wall
Good moves for Miami…you really can’t deny that. -
Like everything we will have to wait to see how this plays out. It definitely makes Miami better. The only question, how much better? Like everything we will have to wait to see how this plays out. It definitely makes Miami better. The only question, how much better?

The Jets Are Going to Copy the Packers' Game Plan, Right?
JohnNord replied to st pete gogolak's topic in The Stadium Wall
I wouldn’t be surprised if they tried copying the game plan but I would be surprised if they had the same amount of success as GB. As people have pointed out, part of the Bills reasoning for staying in Nickel was the threat of Rodgers. You don’t really have that with Zack Wilson. Also even with the addition of James Robinson, the Jets run game was nowhere near as effective missing Hall and Vera-Tucker -
Maybe he just spilled his beer?

I think it’s a good pickup for KC - he definitely makes their offense better. I don’t think he’ll pick up any of the slack left by Tyreek, but I can see Andy using him as a gadget player. It really is telling though that NYG couldn’t find any use for him. Their WR room is pretty sorry. They gave him away for next to nothing

This is a very cool question…. From what I can recall as a kid, fans were a bit more confident than today. There definitely was an excitement which I think is starting to show currently in WNF. It seems like a portion of the fan base (myself included at times) feels that despite how good the Bills look one week, at some point the other shoe will drop. This is what happened after losing 4 SB’s, the music city miracle, and of course 20 years of horrible football. I don’t feel that there was as much skepticism during 1990 and 1991. It’s hard to get a sense of the media exposure because the landscape of the media has changed so much. Really the only exposure was ESPN Sportscenter, newspapers, magazines or local news. Today you have a million different outlets with internet based media plus traditional methods. I do vividly remember during the 1991 season, waking up to watch CBS this morning to find that the Chiefs crushed the Bills 33-6 at Arrowhead on MNF handing them their first their first loss of the year. Pretty sure the games kicked off at 9:10 or so and I wasn’t allowed to stay up. I remember the news anchor saying “a bad thing happened to a good team last night” when sharing highlights. So I think that might speak to what the national media thought of the 1991 team.

How in the hell did Nathaniel Hackett become an NFL head coach?
JohnNord replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall
What helped Hackett was working as Aaron Rodgers’ OC. On paper he could take credit for the success offensively in Green Bay. Of course, it’s flawed logic, but NFL owners make dumb hires all the time. Read the excerpt from the Broncos page below: I don’t think it was all nepotism. I mean it definitely didn’t hurt and probably made him more marketable. But I think he sold them on the success he had in GB. Nepotism likely got him his first NFL jobs as well as his stops as OC under Marrone w/o much proven experience During Hackett's three seasons as Green Bay's offensive coordinator, the Packers ranked fifth in the NFL in scoring (27.2 ppg) while committing the fewest turnovers (37 - 0.75/game) in the league. Playing for Hackett, Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers earned his third and fourth career MVP honors, winning the award in consecutive seasons from 2020-21. Over the last three seasons, All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams ranked second in the NFL in receptions (321), receiving yards (3,924) and receiving touchdowns (34) while posting two of the Top 3 single-season reception marks by a Packer (123 in 2021; 115 in 2020). Most recently in 2021, Green Bay's offense ranked in the Top 10 in average time of possession (30:36–5th), third-down percentage (41.7%–T-7th), scoring (26.5–T-9th), yards per game (365.6–10th), total yards (6,215–10th) and total points (450–10th). Additionally, the Packers finished with the fewest giveaways (13) in the NFL. In 2020, Hackett helped the Packers' offense rank No. 1 in scoring (31.8), touchdowns (66), fewest giveaways (franchise-record 11), red zone TD percentage (team-record 80%) and time of possession (32:29) while ranking No. 2 in third-down percentage (team-record 49.4). Green Bay became just the third team in league history to record 500-plus points and commit 11 or fewer giveaways in a single season. That season, the Packers featured four players (Rodgers, Adams, T David Bakhtiari and C Corey Linsley) who earned first-team All-Pro honors—Green Bay's most first-team selections on offense since 1962 (6).” -
Since I figured we all could use a good laugh
JohnNord replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall
This was a very strange tweet. My only guess is that it was directed toward fans coming down on hard on Jimmy G. He’s blaming the SF defense for playing like crap, rather than blaming the offense (who also played like crap). -
This came across my timeline. Apparently former Bills DC Walt Corey died today. I’m a little surprised we didn’t hear anything from the Bills. Corey was a former Texas/Chief and coached there for 12 years before coaching in Buffalo. As far as a DC, the Bills defense certainly had their moments. But like a lot of players on the 1994 team, Marv probably kept Walt around as DC a few years longer than he should have. I didn’t realize that after he left Buffalo in 1994, Corey coached the Saint DL under Ditka.

Watkins was a very bad pick considering what Whaley and Monos overpaid to get him. His career is the perfect storm of a poor situation, bad luck (injuries), apathy and sheer laziness. Sammy has underperformed for every team he’s played for to the point that disappointed fans can’t wait to get him out the door. I remember some Bills fans here saying “well…Sammy won a Super Bowl.” Ok…so did DeMarcus Robinson. It doesn’t mean he was a great WR. Wasted potential

If the Jets are smart they’ll trade him to an NFC team. I don’t want to see him on Baltimore, KC or LAC

Still the Bills left 14-21 points out there......
JohnNord replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall
Rough game for McKenzie. I’ve seen people try to say that the fumble was more on Josh for trying to improvise as it not part of the play design. McKenzie was not expecting to get the ball. But his stumble in the end zone certainly cost the team 7 -
Most of the teams in the AFC besides Buffalo and KC aren’t that far apart.
-
Yes…they’ll just need a ST touchdown, blocked FG, and long run every game
-
I’m guessing it’s a high ankle sprain which sucks but he should at least return in a few weeks. During a commercial break I read online they brought the stretcher out for him so I was thinking the injury would be worse Probably similar to Jake Kumerow who has been out since Week 3

Nothing happens. You might even see Jones hit with a fine which is ridiculous considering it was called a penalty on the field. I just wish NFL officials would be honest and say “yeah it happened fast and we blew that call.” Instead, they’ll find some ridiculous way to justify the call. This is what makes NFL officiating so frustrating

Lil' Dummy McKenzie.........offical team character builder
JohnNord replied to BADOLBILZ's topic in The Stadium Wall
He had just a horrible game between causing the fumble, dropping a pass, and stumbling in the end zone. At the same time, he’s shown that he can step up in big moments. But yeah I think Shakir is going to take some of his snaps -
I’m watching the 2022 AFC Divisional Playoff Game
JohnNord replied to bmur66's topic in The Stadium Wall
Interesting…how was he bad? No push up the middle? I know the running game wasn’t much of a factor -
I’m skeptical of anything that a fan site posts - especially when it comes to airport visits - until it has been verified by the local press. He’s saying he isn’t a diva and that he cares more about winning than anything else

New offensive wrinkles for the Chiefs defense this week
JohnNord replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall
I love all of these ideas and would not be surprised if they were saving some of the playbook specifically for KC or later in the season. The Bills, perhaps more than other teams, seem to be playing the long game -
Lil’ Dirty has a weekly Tuesday show on Go Long
JohnNord replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think it has to do with what happened with Tua. They wanted to take extra precaution. This week Isaiah said he was disappointed they wouldn’t let him play Sunday -
Oh well.. it gave you cool stories like this one! I always wonder what happened to the media content during the Super Bowl years. My guess is that because it had to be stored on physical cassettes or tapes a fair amount was just recorded over? I would love for local TV and radio stations to release whatever footage they still have for old-time Bills fans like us.

Harry Smith of NBC News spent time at the Pinto Tailgate yesterday
JohnNord replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall
The bowling ball shot is so disgusting. You could retire the entire Pinto Ron tailgate antics and I wouldn’t miss them
