So will quotas apply to on the field ? I get the numbers are not consistent with 70% of players being black. But what is the pool of actual qualified potential coaches. Ozzie, Dungy, Rivera took advantage of the connections they had. I would argue they had a better chance of reaching those positions due to those connections. Rather than Tomlin or McDerm who took the hard road traveled. I think Wilkes got a really bad deal. Over time likely we will see increasing minority coaches for a variety of reasons on merit.

She was both lovely and a talented broadcaster. That was the pre game show to watch in the 70’s. She paved the way for future women to be taken seriously as knowledgeable football reporters. Influential off the field married to JY Brown who essentially moved the Braves out of Buffalo.

The biggest stat for a QB is W or loss. I think if Josh improves on decision making, gets a bit more time, and has more weapons- he will get more W’s. I’ve seen him with significantly improved stats if you figure in drops. I’ve also seen stats that have him as a bottom 5 QB based on some unique set of stats. If the above happen he will get the W’s and stats will improve somewhat. But given he plays in WNY and has away games outside his clean weather games ( particularly wind) are much less than say Brees or Ryan. So he will likely never be a top 5 stats QB. But gives his leadership, arm talent, and now weapons around him he can be a top 10 QB for several years. With a ceiling that might be as high as anyone. As many have said with the Bills core and some improvement JA can lead this team deep into the playoffs.

Punt returner not likely. KO maybe but he would have to beat out a seasoned vet in Yeldon who while not on ST has value.

So they are the checking the box on minority candidates due to the Rooney rule ? Not bringing in potential strong minority candidates? Didn’t the Bills interview AL and MCD? So AL was in fact a strong candidate. Why would a team if required to -being in lower quality minority candidates? Because they in fact only want a white coach who may or may not be the best for the Billion $ enterprise they run ?

And now due to quotas many more minority candidate can be a police officer. That can now be a generational opportunity. But yet that same white candidate who scores higher on the standardized test does not get that opportunity. So that’s what you want ? Agree connections help. But say Fred Jackson wanted to coach. If he did an internship and a couple college positions in 5 years he could be an nfl RB coach. Then OC then HC. You don’t think he has an advantage over a D3 non NFL white guy? It can work both ways. Forcing it is the progressive way and it’s popular but illogical.

The soft bigotry of low expectations. This is not what MLK envisioned! 70 % black players. Well deserved but just like years ago blacks were not slotted to QB. What about white RB’s ? If you want more representation at higher levels you need these 70% or non NFL coaches to pay the dues. Put in the time. It’s like when people say JK should be OC or QB coach. Did he pay his dues and learn the craft of coaching. With the commitment of multiple moves and experiences. It’s an incredibly hard road. The more blacks who do this the more will be those opportunities. Do connections help? Of course but when does this progressive addenda end? This proposal is bad for blacks, overall equality , and the NFL.
