Sorry DaBoll

McCown as OC is even a stretch. Coordinator positions also fall under Rooney. I could see QB coach as his start based on many years as qb. But his HC candidacy is bizarre even outside the Rooney rule. Texans are something.

Alvin Kamara arrested in Vegas after Pro Bowl

All good 👍 just a discussion. I’ve been way worse than that. Have tried to be less so recently. Good to care and be passionate. Nothing wrong with that 🍻 -

Clearly not what I meant and you know it. We are discussing current NFL and what franchises have either turned a blind eye because of the talent a player has. Bills should take down OJ thats fine. He’s rarely mentioned now by anyone and that’s the way it should be. What others suggest is that in the current NFL, KC has been exceptionally active with such players. That’s true. No need to be condescending. Just a discussion and no I don’t support OJ. -

OJ was acquitted of said murder. (Being found not guilty is not the same as innocent). And this occurred well after his career. His football career is what it is. Bills don’t have a significant penchant in recent history of taking on players who have had domestic violence records. I get it on OJ but Bills are not actively involved with such players in very high profile cases. The Chiefs have. -
Florio knows all apparently. That’s quite a journey so your pal can become the HC. Wasn’t Florio the guy who floated BD is out if Bills lose to Pats in first round?

Texans getting closer to hiring Josh McCown as Head Coach
QLBillsFan replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in The Stadium Wall
Unreal that he’s being considered! Fire Culley who given circumstances did decent job. Ok yes his game management had some issues. But particularly given the sensitivity about minority hiring, it’s just dumbfounding. -
Chiefs OC Eric Bienemy getting 2nd interview with Saints..
QLBillsFan replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall
He would have had the Jags gig if he was willing to work with current GM. He flexed to bring in his own in his colleague from Arizona. Khan decided to not go that route. Leftwich to his credit wanted his own gm for all the logic it brings. All on same page and much more stability in getting a real 4-5 year chance. -

https://www.thecoldwire.com/why-hasnt-anyone-hired-eric-bieniemy/ This is one of several. He has interviewed 14 times. This article focuses on 3 issues. To your point .. the poor interviews are very speculative. I hope he gets a shot. The non play calling can certainly be overlooked. Several HC were just position coaches. -

Ive read several articles on it. I’m actually rooting for the guy. Those articles are easy to find. He’s had 10-12 interviews. Sorry but that is a lot of opportunities. Wish him the best. -
Brian Daboll hired to be Head Coach of NY Giants
QLBillsFan replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
What was he supposed to do in the pats home game? Then he dismantled hoody x2. Had Bills O on fire and obviously should have had Bills hosting vs Bengals at home. Coaches win, lose, move around and learn. A very common resume for those who aren’t gifted HC jobs after being position coaches. He was gifted JA who he developed. So.. they both helped each other. In combination with JS and some cap issues I think he will get more than two years. DJones has some potential, we shall see. Seems an odd position to take on an OC who arguably deserved and had earned a very good shot at SB. -

I do believe that EB does not interview particularly well. It’s been reported his interviews lack details. He’s had multiple kicks at the can but may be it’s not gonna happen. -

He played well against the Pats. The Bills owned him. He’s only ever been a position coach not a DC… then rocketed up to HC via his good work and BB reference. The same BB he just back stabbed; immediately after he back stabbed his owner (who is an idiot but did give a 37 year old position coach the job). Can’t get along with GM, QB, and didn’t communicate to his coaches since Thanksgiving. Not sure 🤔 how this benefits the Bills? Seems Flores is in to Flores, not a process guy💯😂 -
Brian Flores suing NFL, NY Giants, Dolphins, Broncos.

All that is true. He was given a dreadful roster, a superstar qb who could not play, and a less than respected owner. They competed in most games and most importantly were developing Davis Mills big time. The general theme is unless you operate like Urban you almost always get a 2nd year minimum and imho I think he deserved that. -

https://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/analysis/preston/bs-sp-nfl-black-coaches-preston-20220119-oo4eejl7ovhffhpnsqfc2554nm-story.html Sorry for being redundant on this. I think I provided link way back. The great point you make about short window is spot on. Culley, Wilkes, Joseph, all only one or two years. Might be missing others. Can’t get my head around Culley firing as it’s ridiculous. -

Statistical fact. Since the Rooney Rule 21% of NFL head coaches hired have been hired. Currently 6 GM’s are black. Just a couple years ago the league had 8 black head coaches. It’s about more black candidates filling the lower level jobs that filter more up to the OC and DC jobs. The why is : 1. Are you qualified 2. Are you connected; is someone in hiring decision very familiar with your work. Or do they trust a reference who believes in your work. #2 is the challenge in any hiring scenario. Corporate enterprise works the same way. The solve is having more minorities in the potential candidate funnel. That’s the solution. Leftwich wants Wilson as his GM who happens to be black. They have worked together, believe in each other, and have trust. Just like JS and DB. Good for all four of them. Not racism just human nature. Agree what the heck are the Texans doing considering McCown? Culley got bad deal other than a substantial $ buyout. Thought he did a good job considering.. and the rookie qb showed great improvement. -
True on Leftwich he wanted Wilson as GM from his relationship in Arizona. Can’t blame him. Isn’t it how the world of networking works.

He lost me at “Plantation” backstabbing BB per Florio that he had a hand in BD getting the Giants over him. He had both of them in his employ for many years. Flores was never a DC .. position coach. Perhaps Flores should be more appreciative with BB since I’m sure he supported his Phins hire. Seems since he pushed for Judge last hire who knows. But Flores looking all about Flores. -

Fair point on the Rooney rule. I think the solve is more black coaches in the pipeline who can become head coaches. Very few from position coaches to HC. So need to feed the position coaches and lower level roles. Then by sheer numbers the outcome will be more qualified black coaches ready to go. Currently with six blacks GM’s that’s some progress. Agree he was fast tracked and certainly was not a bad coach. I don’t think he was let go for leading a pretty bad team to 24-25. I think his approach on the people side of it hampered his success. I thought he was and is a viable candidate. But agree he’s not head and shoulders above others in current cycle. -

Could all be true about Elways liver. He is a guy who recently hired a black head coach. Not cool if Flores is right in that he was not engaged if it’s true. -

But he’s black and unlike Nagy he deserves special treatment. Judge him by performance in 3 years. Did some good things others not so good. 24-25 and unable to work with others. By the way I think gaining maturity and experience would allow him to do better next time. At the ripe old age of 43. -

Nice job by Flores assuming Elway was hung over and not engaged. Pretty strong character attack on a guy by all accounts well respected. How much of this is Flores a victim looking for all the reasons he’s been wronged. Calling out multiple people on ethics and racism. All the while setting a plan to align himself with Watson. Points to a level of narcissism. -

Some players also reportedly didn’t like or get along with Flores. He fired multiple OC’s and literally didn’t talk to the vast majority of his coaching staff after Thanksgiving. Establishing an issue of poor communication and lack of people skills. Important as a leader in any industry. The thought of nfl players 70% of which are black striking is ridiculous. 21% of HC coaches hired since the Rooney rule have been minorities. Wilkes and Culley each only got one year and they have been certainly wronged. Currently Leftwich and Bowles are two examples of black coaches better positioned to be hired this cycle. Hot OC (similar to DB), or former coach w mixed results as HC having earned another shot via great DC workin TB. I would not been shocked if Flores got or potentially still does got a HC job. But it’s rare to get fired with a sub .500 record and immediately get another HC spot. Gase somehow did but it’s a short list. I’m guessing that Congress will have no interest in getting involved in the NFL. The right thing to do is hire the best candidates for the job regardless of ethnicity. Flores has a case of ethics with respect to Ross. But, dragging two others franchises into the racial muck along with BB in the name of a greater cause seems all about Flores. -
