America's Ten Fastest Dying Cities!
SF Bills Fan replied to PearlHowardman's topic in Off the Wall Archives
Buffalo, the zombie city. Is this a shock to anyone? Buffalo is always on these lists. While Charlotte, Orlando, Phoenix and other sunbelt cities are always on the list for fastest growing cities because they are obviously such awesome places to live that everyone wants to move or rather SHOULD move there. We know Buffalo is not the thriving place it once was. Perhaps by the time the next study rolls around, Buffalo will have collapsed and fallen on Cheektowaga and killed it too. -
Who wrote that? Norman Einstein?

Buffalo listed as a franchise on the brink
SF Bills Fan replied to major's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is a stupid feature. The Bills are mandatory on lists like. They throw the Bills on there to round out the list. They have no idea about the Bills and the economics of the team. The stupidest statement is "Despite sellout crowds for every game last season, ticket prices remain stubbornly low". What is the correlation there? Would it not be more alarming if the stadium was half empty (with a continually bad team) and ticket prices were stubbornly high? Who writes this crap? Buffalo remains on the brink of bad reporting, is more like it. P.S. In Toronto, ticket prices WERE stubbornly high and the stadium was not a sell out. -
Not alot of cities will pony up the millions needed to build a stadium and just hand it over to an NFL team. No team will move to LA until there is a stadium and no municipality in the LA area will build one right now. The only stadium in the works right (outside of Jerry Jones's privately financed stadium) now is the $800 million Santa Clara stadium to lure the Niners 40 miles south and that is fading every day as taxpayers there take a look at what they will spend. Plus the Niners thought they would get assistance from the NFL stadium fund, but the NFL says that money is all gone. There will not be a new NFL stadium built anywhere for a while. So everyone will stay put for a while.
-
This will be a debate that will continue as long as the NFL exists. The "my team shouldn't move- your team should". Right now, I think everyone is staying put because no city or individual can build a stadium and no individual wants to look silly putting up $800 million (at least) to buy a team. The Bills are looking pretty good right where they are with renovated stadium, a sold out stadium and no debt load on a stadium.

What do you miss about Buffalo?
SF Bills Fan replied to Billistic's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
All my friends and family back there, going to the games, great food, inexpensive prices, great summer weather. Don't miss driving in bad weather or having to drive much at all. -
He wanted to be close to the stadium, so that doesn't sound right. I bet he quietly found a place somewhere in OP.
-
Every year this topic comes up. I love it. Everyone has their #1. My vote every year goes to Ekl's in OP. I went there in February when I was back and it was great as always. Right up there is Bar Bill in EA. Both are great. In the Southtowns, those are your winners.

Buffalo Bills nation just got a little bigger!!!!!
SF Bills Fan replied to marauderswr80's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Congrats! My daughter arrived 6/23 as well. That was her actual due date. Mom is from Dallas, but there is no doubt the baby is a Bills fan. -
I am not the biggest baseball fan in the world by any means and I think baseball can be pretty boring. However, when you go to games, it can be a blast. Nothing like a gorgeous day in the park drinking some beers. Especially inside a great stadium like Wrigley. If Buffalo had a team, I think some of the people here that state they hate baseball would have a different opinon. But, I partially agree, I put baseball on tv when I want to nap, it is right up there with golf in terms of excitement on tv.

Touring Buffalo- What to see and do?
SF Bills Fan replied to DDD's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Frank Lloyd Wright house is a must see. Then check out the Albright Knox and the new Burchfield museum. After that, I'd stop in Coles. -
I believe the Jacobs will emerge as the owners. They have the money and they want to own an NFL team and they want the one in their hometown. Plus it fits naturally with their business. The Ralph will become Delaware North Stadium.

We had the Cup the year we lost to Carolina in the Conf. Finals. We lost 6 defensemen by the time the series reached game 7. We had guys who had come right from Rochester on the blue lines. And we still were up by a goal in the 3rd. McKee got a staph infection that day. What are the odds? In Buffalo...stacked against is what they are. Then Carolina goes on to a relatively easy Cup final. We had the Cup that year. We are so snake bitten. My weekend is now ruined.

He should live on a plane or perhaps a blimp that constantly circles the Buffalo area and only lands for practice and games. Who would not want to live on a blimp?

Interesting situation in St. Louis with Rams
SF Bills Fan replied to SF Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I read that the city has to agree that the dome remains within the top 8 in the league ( I don't know the criteria is on that). But since their dome was built, there have been 23 other stadiums built or renovated (including the renovation at RWS). St. Louis is not so quick to want to put money into that, so the Rams can use an escape clause to get out. I think it is very interesting because I didn't anticipate another team going through this before the Bills were placed in a similar situation. I think we'll see exactly what knid of groups in LA are looking for a team and what kind of money and stadium plans they have as well as what kind of support the the owners give to them. -
Having camp in metro Rochester is a major part of the regional strategy, so I can't see them moving. It's a no brainer having it there and I hear it is a success. Why ruin that? Canada got enough as it is.

Interesting situation in St. Louis with Rams
SF Bills Fan replied to SF Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There are plenty of wealthy people in St. Louis that could buy the team, but it seems like there are many roadblocks like cross ownership rules pertaining to other sport franchises and so forth. A move back to LA is logical, but they need a stadium. My bet is on LA because they have plenty of people with the money that have been waiting and the city of Industry is waiting to build a stadium- contingent upon a team moving there. The timing might finally be right for LA to get a team again. -
The Rams are going to be hitting the market fairly soon and there is a good chance that they might not find a local buyer, so the team may be sold to outside groups. This will open the door for a possible move. This is a very similar situation to what we envision happening in Buffalo. Ms. Frontiere's heirs are not able to handle the estate taxes associated with owning a team, so they are forced to sell. Peopel are pretty nervous in St. Louis about a move. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
