TMQ (Gregg Easterbrook) on Buffalo/stadium
SF Bills Fan replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Spot on article there. Being from the area, he has very keen insight. Agreed on the downtown stadium. -
Good point- I would be shocked if the series continued. I feel Rogers only signed on thinking that they would get the team eventually and wanted to showcase TO as an NFL hungry city. At this point, I think we can all agree Pegula will be buying the team. I would imagine he will try to demonstrate his complete loyalty to Buffalo by having no games in Toronto and Rogers would not want to line the pockets of the guy that beat him out in the Bills sweepstakes, anyway.

Terry Pegula Jersey's

There would be a market. People wear jerseys with any name on it. I remember meeting a guy in Tempe at the Bills Sunday night game there (many years ago) and he had a jersey with Mustaine on the back and the number referred to his favorite Megadeath album. I think El Pegual would be solid. -
schedule breakdown, wins and losses

This is exactly as I see it -
This article is pretty accurate. It has been an awful 3-4 decades. Local politics and the high taxes and cost of doing business has taken it's toll. But, things do seem to be turning around. Tax breaks and incentives like the kind that will lure Solarcity to build their plant at the Riverbend site are the kind of things that places like Dallas and Charlotte have done for years. They have been buying away jobs from Buffalo, Cleveland and other rust belt cities for years, so it is nice to see the state finally getting a clue. Obviously, the NFL long ago outgrew Buffalo and retaining the Bills is a small victory and we are lucky to have people willing to step up. But bringing jobs in and turning things around will justify keeping them there in the long run. I'm cautiously optimistic for the future of Buffalo. The area is far from being out of the woods, but at least you don't hear wolves howling anymore.

I get the impression that the NFL would not be unhappy if the Jags relocated once their lease is up/. they have am ore prohibitive one than the Bills just put in place. I think the comments from Goodell are positive in that he wants to see the Bills remain long term. Hopefully, he puts his money where his mouth is and we get a 200 million loan from the NFL for the stadium like other cities. the fact they don't pressure Jacksonville tells me that he would be OK with Kahn moving the team to London or LA when the time is right.

It's under the 800 foot Fatima Shrine Arch on the water. You can't see it?

Granted he is not playing against starters, but he is making plays. Passes looks crisp and accurate.

1st pass was complete. Tried a run- a designed play- at 3rd and 1 and was denied. Looks poised.

Observation from Bank of America Stadium
SF Bills Fan replied to KRT88's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If JBJ had actually gained control of the team or even had a chance, then it woukd be an insult to play that. As it is, he has zero chance. They should play the Empire Theme from Empire Strikes Back in honor of Pegula since he is about to dominate Buffalo sports and the downtown with a new downtown stadium and new skyscrapers like Charlotte. -
He won that game- he deserves credit. Then a questionable lateral combined with a massive breakdown on special teams happened that gave credibility to that silly play and stole our win. I always wonder if Flutie would have won it with enough that would have left no margin for error at the end. Crazy to think we could have gone to the Super bowl that year- we win that game and we had a good chance. That was a dark day.

Bon Jovi underestimated just how hard it would be to relocate the Bills from a financial standpoint as well as the huge loyal fan base that would mobilize. He probably thought the Toronto guys could not be beat and now realizes too late that he is with the wrong group. He should have approached Trump or Golisano. I don't think Pegula woukd have wanted anyone else involved.

Even Harry Potter knows the Bills need to stay in Buffalo
SF Bills Fan replied to JoeF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Both Kimmel and Radcliffe just gained big respect. More so Radcliffe since Kimmel was already highly respected. -
Can we lift the Bon Jovi ban? I propose we invite him to play at the first home game this year.

San Antonio would not be a good market. I think it is too much in the Cowboy camp. This seems like silly posturing, anyway. The Raiders should and, I believe, will love back to LA

Dareus not cleared to practice yet
SF Bills Fan replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Camp is where you get whipped back into shape. Test him at the end and see where he is at. I recall Ted Washington left Denver because they got on his case about being fat. Wade Philips welcomed him to the Bills and didn't say a word about it. They probably hit up the all you can eat buffets together after practice. His big butt thrived in Buffalo. If they cut Dareus he'll go somewhere else and make us regret it. -
Cleveland 95/Threat of the Bills leaving
SF Bills Fan replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You are right, Modell was having financial problems and got a cash incentive to move as well as a stadium. He used the "they took my parking away" as reason to move and cited a number of other reasons as to why he needed to move. To be fair, that stadium was a pit. Does anyone remember how bad that playoff game with the Bills-Browns was in that the late 80's? They painted frozen mud green and then it thawed and turned into a muddy mire. But. at the end of the day, he needed money and he was offered it and decided to throw away his legacy to get it. -
Bills officially for sale - let the bidding begin!
SF Bills Fan replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yep- I would believe that Goldman Sacs would walk him to the door pretty quickly. But the backing of Rogers and his 10 billion probably keeps him in the room. then again, they are getting a cut of the pie whether he wins the bid or not. Lucky for us fans, we have a dedicated guy with liquid cash on hand that can buy the team and build a stadium if he feels the need to. -
Cleveland 95/Threat of the Bills leaving
SF Bills Fan replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If the the Bills are bought by a carpetbagger owner, and we knew they were leaving, it would be a million times worse than that destruction. It would be a riot. Nobody would buy a ticket to line that person's pockets and the fans that did would only pay in order to wreak havoc. It would be so bad, that they could not even try to wait out the lease to get to the buyout option. The NFL would probably try to invoke some option to let them leave ASAP and the state and county would sue to get the 400 million and it would be a complete crap show in the courts with out of control fans fueled by an ocean of alcohol ripping things apart on Sundays. Does the NFL want that?
