  1. How about Brandon Lloyd of 49ers? http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/396021 With Alex Smith, Ken Dorsey, Tim Rattay, and Cody Pickett threw to him last season, Lloyd still managed to get 733 receiving yards and 5 TD , which is comparable to Mould's 816 yards and 4TD. Lloyd already played at the no.1 WR position at 49ers, against opposite team's best cornerback. More important, he is only 24 years old. He may not be the ultimate no.1 receiver for us, but he should be able to handle the job before giving it to Evans. With the 4.5M cap money saved by cutting Moulds, Marv should be able to sign Lloyd easily.
  2. Right, only the LTBE (likely-to-be-earned) incentives are counted in the cap. Also, if the LTBE clauses turns out not being reached in the end of the season, teams will get extra cap in the following year. I remember Vikings was awarded 10 million cap space two years ago because many players didn't reach their LTBE clauses. Vikings then used that extra 10 million cap to sign A.Winfield with a contract having no signing bonus and a big first-year roster bonus (only counted against the cap in the same year).
  3. No one should be fired because of the bad officiating, but the bad officiating needs to get improved.
  4. No, I voice out my feelings about bad calls. I sent mails to NFL and emails to their website. One mail won't do the job, two mails probably won't either, but when there're more and more complains sent to NFL, maybe someday it'll cause NFL to improve the officiating. You can be negative to sit on your couch and accept the bad calls. But there're still fans who want NFL games to get better. If you do nothing, nothing will happen. If you try, things may change.
  5. Maybe there's no way to make officiating perfect, but it certainly can be improved. Once fans and media accept the bad calls, the officiating won't even get better.
  6. You can be positive to critize the bad calls and hope NFL will do something. Or You can be negative to accept that bad calls are just part of the game. whining?? No, these are just fans who want to have better officiating in their beloved games. Besides, why whining when most of the people on this board are not even 'hawks fans? People will continue to watch NFL even there're bad calls, but no doubt that the officiating can be improved and the game can be better
  7. If we only have one or two holes to fill, we should trade up. But this is not the case, we should trade down and get more picks unless a stud drops to #8.
  8. Can any steelers/referee supporter explain why Hasselback's 'block below the waist' call is correct?
  9. Currently Colts are just under the projected 2006 cap, and have James, Wayne, Thorton, Brock, and Morris to re-sign. It's almost impossible to use franchise flag on James again, since it was used on James last year and they need to pay James 10% or 20% more than his 2005 salary. They may choose to franchise Wayne, but that'll be the NO.1 WR money. Do they really want to tie so much money on Manning, Harrison, Wayne, and Freeney? It'll also be difficult to sign Wayne a long term deal, because there're only few top FA receivers this year, teams need a no.1 WR and don' want TO will presude Wayne hard. Franchising Wayne and trade him for draft picks may be their best solution. Manning's cap hit will be sky high starting from 2008 (assume there'll be a cap). I believe it'll be 16M in 2008, 20M in 2009, and 25M in 2010. Colts won't be able to keep all their top FAs, or they are bound to a cap hell in near future.
  10. If you offer the 13th pick, 2nd round, 3rd round and next year's 1st round pick, I'll trade you the mighty pepsi machine.
  11. That 'somebody else' was Joe Montana. Marv wanted to draft Montana in the 2nd round, but was forced by his boss to trade up to 1st round to pick Steve Fuller.
  12. Another trivia: Which of the following Bills player didn't start in all four super bowls in early 90s: Jim Kelly Thurman Thomas Andre Reed Kent Hull
  13. Just a reminder: Coaches with good playoff records are either retired or already having HC jobs.
  14. I don't think Mike Pereira's statement said that if a Colts player touched Polamalu, it's an incomplete pass. He basically stated two things: (1) Polamalu held the ball long enough to have the possession. (2) The "act common to the game" definition Morelli cited during the game is not suitable in this case. Pereira didn't state that the ruling would be different had Polamalu been touched by a Colts player. My view is that he used (1) to say Polamalu catched the ball and (2) to make Morelli not look too bad.
  15. Too late, NFL has already awarded NE several champions. Oh, wait, the report was refering to Polamalu's Intercepation, not the tuck rule or 5-yard bump rule.
  16. I also agree the second interception is one of the worst alls ever, or one of the worst definitions on "football move" by ref. But on the first interception, I remember the reply clearly showed Polamalu lost control of the ball after hitting the ground. Polamalu didn't even argue about it.
  17. This is not related to "Bert Emanuel Rule" . 'The Bert Emanuel Rule' is that if you have control of the ball when tumbling to the ground and still cleanly control it (even if part of the ball touches the ground during the process), it is a catch. Previously, if the ball touched at all, it was an incomplete pass automatically. Now, it will be up an official's judgement.
  18. The great Peyton Manning needs to have at least one superbowl ring, so he can be the greatest QB ever.
  19. Chargers actually used their own 2nd round choice to pick Brees. The trade is Falcons got 2001 #1 overal (Vick) Chargets got 2001 #5 overal (LT) + 2001 3rd round, #67 (T.Cody) + 2002 2nd round, #48 (R.Caldwell) + T.Dwight
  20. I know Marv already have some cap space to work with and will get more by cutting players and reconstructing contracts. I was just wondering if Bills will be rewarded Adams' 2005 LTBE in 2006 cap for extra 1.25M, which basically comes free. 1.25M is not much, but may get us another quality FA.
  21. I don't have the detail of Sam Adams' contract, but I read somewhere that his LTBE counted about 1.25M toward 2005 cap. Since he didn't play much and probably didn't achieve his LTBE to earn the money, doesn this mean Bills will reward the 1.25M cap in 2006? In other words, will Bills' 2006 cap be 1.25M higher than others?
  22. No, you're not the only one. I keep thinking of A.Brooks when seeing Young play.
  23. This is correct, STL game matters. Bills schedule: Houston 2-13 ( at. SF) Tampa Bay 11-5 Atlanta 8-8 New Orleans 3-13 Miami 9-7 NY Jets 4-12 Oakland 4-12 New England 10-6 Kansas City 10-6 San Diego 9-7 Carolina 11-5 Miami 9-7 New England 10-6 Denver 13-3 Cincinnati 11-5 NY Jets 4-12 SOS: 128-127 pending on SF-Hou game outcome, the final SOS can be 128-128 or 129-127 ========================= Rams schedule: San Francisco 3-12 (vs. Hou) Arizona 5-11 Tennessee 4-11 (at Jac) NY Giants 11-5 Seattle 13-3 Indianapolis 14-2 New Orleans 3-13 Jacksonville 11-4 (vs. Ten) Seattle 13-3 Arizona 5-11 Houston 2-13 (at SF) Washington 9-6 (at Phi) Minnesota 8-7 (vs. Chi) Philadelphia 6-9 (vs. Wash) San Francisco 3-12 (at SF) Dallas 9-6 (at Dal) SOS: 119-128 Because several of Rams' opponents face each other in the afternoon, Rams SOS is actually 122-131 and can be 122-134 to 125-131. In other words, Rams' SOS will be weaker than Bills' and draft before Bills in they have same records.
