Well we do have a 2nd round guard that rides the pine a lot. Really makes you think what this team would be without Allen carrying it.

Who is to blame for our lack of Lombardis?

Well considering Haack finished terrible in punting statistics, that doesn’t exactly bode well for team Beane. -

McDermott did take us to the playoffs with Taylor. Which makes one wonder why he hasn’t won a Super Bowl with Allen who is statistically top 3 in the league. -

Bills under Pegula’s. Sorry, should have been more clear. I want to try and make this as less subjective as possible. Where would you rank our overall talent acquisition across the league? 6th, 3rd, 1st? And what gauge should we use? Statistical quartiles analysis weighted based on positional importance? Where do we rank McDermott in coaching performance league wide? 10th, 7th, 3rd, etc? What statistical performance gauge are we using to judge coaches? I seriously want to know where we should be placing blame mathematically. -
So if this correct. Where would you gauge our level of roster talent? 5th, 4th, etc? And how are you exactly gauging that statistically? Positional statistical quartiles weighted based on positional importance? Then how long do we stick with our coaches if talent acquisition isn’t the issue? No, but I want to try and squeeze out subjectivity as much as possible. How should we exactly gauge coaching performances and who should we hire if talent acquisition isn’t holding this team back from winning Super Bowls. Because that is the goal right? If you were to rank coaching performance, where would you rank McDermott , 8th, 5th, etc?

So some say winning in the NFL is hard. Some say it takes luck. I say it all comes down to roster talent and coaching to get the most out of that roster talent (player execution). Where do you stand at the moment, who is to blame for not winning any Lombardis? A lot of posters here feel we have a top 5 roster. Which ultimately begs the question, how exactly should we qualify what is “top 5” , which metrics are we going to use. Should we use positional statistical quartiles for every team position and weight them based on positional importance? I’m serious, I would like to sit down and debate how exactly we should gauge this. Some posters here feel we aren’t winning Lombardis because of coaching strategy and maximizing player execution. Which coaching statistics should we use to gauge coaching performance? I want to try and be as less subjective as possible when trying to determine where fault is placed. I don’t believe in luck. I believe in talent and talent execution. Luck is a crutch people use to excuse away failure. How is it that some NFL teams can win Lombardis on less than top 5 roster talent, but somehow we supposedly can’t? Please discuss as honestly as you can.

People on here tell me we have a top 5 NFL roster, how can that be true if we have a punter that’s ranking last in some punting metrics?

So then why haven’t we won Lombardis if that is the case? Player execution? Scheme/Strategy? If our roster is truly top 5 in talent acquisition, who is to blame for our failure to win the Lombardi? Coaching? Someone has to take the fall, because not winning a Lombardi is failure whether we finish last or 2nd place.

Hall’s vision is next level ability. He’s got the speed to go with that vision as well. Would totally be fine using our 2nd round pick on him. I wouldn’t even be mad if we took him at 25, considering he’s better than Etienne IMO.

Not exactly dumb when it’s generational talent. Kid can punt from his own end zone to other opponents 20. That’s a huge huge advantage for NFL defenses. I would absolutely be ok if Beane decided to do it.

We have players in the league that have actually been convicted of domestic violence and other violent crimes. We had a team with such behavior similar to Watson, cough Pittsburgh. The league is making more money now then they ever have even with questionable characters. Nobody and I mean nobody is concerned about this in the NFL circle as long as no legal issues exist.
-
People still watch the NFL and go to the games with other more shady characters that are currently employed. I sincerely doubt Watson is going to be what keeps ticket sales down. I mean after all, you are talking about modern day gladiator viewership. People in Rome watched murderers fight to the death for entertainment. Not that much big of a difference to be honest.

This is true, they do get paid the most because they are the most important player on the team, but at some point, their high salaries become a detriment to the overall success of a team. You still need high end talent at key positions to compete against better packaged teams. I hope Allen at some point realizes this and restructures or takes a smaller pay in the future.

I don’t think people have a problem with it, we are just expecting better talent to go along with signings like this. It’s why it’s imperative that Beane has better drafts over the next few years as Josh’s fat contract kicks in. Josh needs to start elevating average talent around him. Look what Brady did for years, I expect Josh to do the same eventually.
-
Mind you this all factors in 2023. We haven’t even hit his fat numbers yet and we are still struggling to get under the cap. It’s imperative that Beane continues to draft well. Sigh. Well we have money issues anyways. LOL and Josh’s fat contract numbers haven’t even kicked in yet. Beane needs to draft better.

I actually place some of the blame on the QBs for this. Elite QBs need to learn that maxing out your contracts hurts the teams ability to surround yourself with talent required to win championships. I like Allen, and I’m incredibly thankful he’s on our team, but it wouldn’t hurt him to take 10 million less a year to help attract more talent. If I was an NFL QB, that is what I would do. If you can’t manage to be financially successful with 30 vs 40 million a year, then you have problems. Allen must understand that if he can’t win Super Bowls by himself with slightly above average talent, then he needs to shallow his pride and do whatever it takes to bring one home to the city of Buffalo and it’s great fans.

I would not be surprised if he goes in the 3rd or 4th. He is that good. Do we have anybody on the team that is good at holding kicks outside of Haack?
-
Matt Araiza is actually even an emergency kicker. Has a few 45+ yard FGs under his belt.
-
I honestly would not be surprised if Araiza is actually drafted in the 4th or even possibly the 3rd he is that good.
