Just when I think the Bills finally got smart...
Virgil replied to Wayne Arnold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not only contribute immediately, but fill holes we've had for two years now. Also, save 12 mil in changing out CB's and got an extra 1st next year. But yeah, terrible job -
I would love to have watched an insider camera into the 49ers and Bears war room tonight. How do you convince a team to trade two 3rd round picks to move up one spot? Seriously, what's the thought process here? The ONLY thing I can assume is that the 49ers somehow convinced the Bears that another team was trying to trade ahead of them for Trubisky. If not that, I just don't get it. You just gave that money to Glennon, knowing you had the 3rd overall pick. The Bears never even setup a meeting with Trubinsky before the draft. It was just Senior Week and Combine I believe. And no one, absolutely no one, saw them as wanting a QB. Long story short, someone has pics of someone's wife. That's the only thing I can figure out. And the Browns also didn't look like morons tonight. Congrats to them.

Is this the most wide open draft in recent memory?
Virgil replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've never seen you post in initialism before. -
In recent memory, I can't think of a draft where I have absolutely no idea what players will be going where. To me, this draft is full of a ton of B+ talent, but no guaranteed superstars. Myles looks to be a lock at #1, but after that.....I got nothing. The QB's seem to be very hit or miss. I could see none going in the top 10, creating trades in the second half of the draft so that teams can get that 5th year option. Trades overall I think will be either in abundance or not at all. I think everyone's draft boards will be very different which could leave guys highly rated for one team dropping and creating a trade. On the flip side, there is so much depth that teams will know they will get one of their guys and not waste picks to trade up. Overall, I'm going to predict 2 qb's in the first round and 3 total first round trades. I just think most teams will want to trade back for more picks, so there won't be enough buyers for the sellers. Either way, should be fun

Prospect Watch: Mitch Trubisky QB, UNC

That was one of the worst tapes I've seen for a potential "first round" pick. -

Soooooo, EJ?

I just don't see us drafting a QB we haven't set up a visit with. Hence, Peterman. As for Kelly going undrafted. I can see a 6th-undrafted. Couldn't do the combine. Only met with 3 teams. Off-field issues. At this points, he's a flyer pick. I can see the 6th only because he's a qb
-
He's a 6th rounder at best. Probably undrafted at this point
-
Didn't know he was sick like that. Those sketches were pure cold. Now Prince and Charlie can have that basketball rematch

Is it okay to have a second team to root for?
Virgil replied to Another Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nothing wrong with it, just so long as you come home to bed with the Bills every night. After the Bills, I probably root hardest for any team playing the Pats. I hate them that much. -
I'm a TT guy and believe we have more pressing needs with our first three picks. In no particular order, OT, S, WR, DB are more pressing needs. We don't have a 4th round pick, so it'll be 5th or worse if we don't make trades. However, I'm all about making trades and picking up extra picks. To me, I think the QB's are all hit or miss in this draft and we could see a lot of guys fall to the 3rd or 4th round. With that being said, who would you like to see us grab in the 4th (with a trade) or 5th round? I think there's a chance that Webb falls to the late 3rd, but I don't see us drafting a guy we didn't interview. Overall, I see Peterman out of Pitt in the 5th round to us.

Not buying it -
The only defenses that seems to slow down the pats are with physical man coverage and front 4 pressure. Our defense is mainly going to be cover 3 with zone. It's a pressure based, let them beat you in spots kind of defense. Doesn't that fall right into the Patriots hands. They want the short, quick routes. They want to find space. They want to run free off the line. I know the Pats tear up pretty much all defenses, but I feel like we are just starting with a losing plan against a team that needs to be overcome to get us over the hump. Yes, we can adjust our defense in the moment and it's only one team. I get it. The sky isn't falling. This is just a conversation that I'm surprised hasn't been talked about much yet.

I think it all comes down to the QBs. If they don't go in the top 3, people will want to trade ahead of Cleveland and others to get their guy. I don't think any of them are worth a first round pick, but we will see.
-
You cracked the code. I'm convinced! Trade up for him

Got to love how rankings change with no games being played -
This offseason has felt different from the Pats. Giving out big money to players, pulling off trades for high profile players. I'm wondering if Brady really has told the team that he plans to play for 2 more years, or something like that, so they are just abandoning their normal plan to make sure those last few years are championship runs. Could be crazy here, but something just feels different.

Bubble teams come down to judgement and discretion. I believe the committee is not fans of Cuse with their infractions and comments about the tourney. Not a conspiracy guy, but don't bite the hand that feeds you
-
I'm going to throw up. No disrespect to the posters who ask why he's so bad but, did you watch him? He may have given up 8 sacks, but he also gave up so many pressures it was crazy. In prepping to do some of the game recaps, I would watch just him on plays and it's bad. I don't know why they are giving him this much money and why they are doing it so early. He could be replaced by almost anyone
-
We need to sign at least one vet in FA. Rookie WR have one of the bigger learning curves and rarely contribute the way you want in year one. I'm all for drafting someone in round 1/2. But we need another vet. I think we need to vets due to Sammy's injury history
-
With all this cap space we are freeing up, does it makes sense to get ahead of some of these contracts and eat the money now? I know we aren't done in FA by a long shot, but I don't see there being many big contracts out there to give. We could extend someone like Sammy and still get some quality B players
