Good post, but I really don’t see how you write this before the final game. No matter what’s happened so far, if we make the playoffs, this is unequivocally our best season in 20 years and McDermott is a god
-
Can’t complain too much about that schedule. Even though our luck in Baltimore isn’t good lately and I wish we could swap or Home/Away games for the NFC North
-
The end result is the end result. And this is a big final game for us for the first time in a long time. Complain about whatever you want about this season, but this is a good feeling.

No pass rush and blitzing against Brady = disaster
Virgil replied to Foreigner's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I’m going to blame the front 4 on that one. McDermott had good coverage schemes and Brady was confused a lot. Those guys need to win their matchups. With Hughes getting paid like he does, Kyle, and a 1st round pick on that line, there’s no excuses to not get more pressure with just 4. -
A few thoughts about the Patriots game

Can you call out a play or two where this is evident. More often than not, I saw him blowing up plays behind the line of scrimmage. I’m not trying to blow up your spot, but I keep hearing people say our LBs were bad and I’m not seeing it outside the 4th when the whole D was just winded -
New Years Resolutions for McBeane

Well I’ll be damned. You won the internet. Well done -
No matter what, they aren’t going to roll over for a divisional rival. Knowing us, they will win and we will lose.

What’s most important to a successful offense?
Virgil replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They were talking about our scoring offense on WGR after the game. I didn’t think it could be right either, but I don’t use the googly-thing. -

Well, now that we have the important issue out of the way -
What’s most important to a successful offense?

If it’s just that, then explain the Vikings success. Most people here wouldn’t take any of their QBs here. Then look at Goff and what’s he doing this season vs last. It can’t be just that unless you have Brady and there aren’t many of him. -
There’s all kinds of finger pointing as to what is wrong with our offense. Some want to say Dennison, some TT, others overall talent. If the 3, I think overall talent is the least important and here’s why. The Bills had the highest scoring offense going into the last game of the season in 2016 with basically the same offense. Our rushing attack was fierce while TT had his usual pedestrian numbers. Yes, we had different WR’s, but none of them were lighting the world on fire. So what changed beside scheme? We saw it on defense when Rex took over and again with McDermott. Scheme might be the most important. I look at the Rams as a counter point. They took our WR’s from last year, a QB labeled a bust, and a 4-12 team and have now won their division. What changed, scheme. Woods is a pro bowler for them and Gurley is a beast. Talent upgrade was nothing more than our discarded wide receivers, but still a huge turnaround. Then I look at QB. How many years has the Pats dominated on offense with no name Wide Receivers? ProBowl QB’s find the open players, hit throws in the clutch, and overall find a way. You can find counter arguments with the Vikings, but that seems to be the exception. So what’s the answer? For us to get over the hump and beyond, I think it’s the loss of TT, Dennison, and speed WR. I’m overall frustrated because I do believe that last years offense and this years defense makes the playoffs. I’m frustrated that TT just isn’t there, but shows enough flashes to give hope. I hate changing up offense philosophies so much, but I don’t want to waste another year on Dennison with a new QB. He wasn’t a good hire to begin with and proven as much all season. I have no idea who the new QB should be, but I would love to seen Cousins (2nd in the league in passing with no WR’s) or go QB with our first. I want speed WR with a top 3 pick. And I want a new OC. I think all 3 need to happen. I use 3 picks on those (OT), and the rest on defense because we need a DT, DB, and depth.

Thank you. Would a great QB have won this for us? Maybe. But is TT the reason we lost? No. That’s the difference. He neither won nor lost the game for us. -

Brady threw one ball up to Gronk that got PI. Other than that, Brady relied on the ground game and it worked for him. Brady had 3 and outs, missed passes, but had better support. QB’s miss passes. Thinking this loss was all on Tyrod is ridiculous -

Tyrod wasn’t an issue in the game for me and wasn’t why we lost. Rather than make this a TT discussion, like they always turn into, I left him out. He he had two TD’s dropped or overturned. He had terrible play calls or covered receivers. He missed some throws, but so did Brady. He had a good stat line and there were way worse concerns on the field. You csn can pin it on Tyrod if you want, but you’d be wrong Sadly, I wanted the same thing -
I’m too angry to give a nice little intro. I’m tired of morale victories and these bull **** games against the Pats, for so many reasons. 1 - Tolbert - Just stop. Run plays that get blown up behind the line of scrimmage. 2nd and goal from the 17 and a pass to him?! Why??? He has no chance and we keep trying. Then on 2nd and 25 they run him?! I just can’t understand his utilization. 2 - Refs - What happened to conclusive evidence to overturn a call? Also, if a play breaks the plane on a non- touchdown but also pulls it back, then it’s the end result spot. These refs have given so many games to the Pats in recent weeks. I’m sick of it. You can’t beat the refs and the Pats in Foxboro. We got absolutely !@#$ed 3 - Red Zone - You can’t go 3/4 in the red zone with all field goals and expect to win. Clay drops, terrible play calls (more on that), and the Refs just defined this game. 4 - And I could be good, and I would - If I knew I was understood And it'll be great, just wait - Or is it too little too late? 5 - Gaines - We are now 1-4 when he is out. Johnson and others get abused out there and it kills us. We need more depth at DB and his absence proves it every week. 6 - Linebackers - Milano and Brown were fantastic today. They tracked down multiple plays in the backfield and broke through the line of scrimmage to get to them. Just great job by these guys today. 7 - Defensive Line - Another week of zero pressure and getting blown off the line on rushing plays. The Cold front is dead and gone. 8 - Zay Jones - Where the hell is this guy for multiple games in a row? I hate to talk about non-factors in a game like this, but c’mon! He can’t even get a catch?! 9 - Dennison - You know you’re going to go for on 4th and 2 and you call two straight pass plays?! For one creative play, he has two head scratchers that kill drives or set us back. Blame Tyrod all you want, but this guy is terrible and needs to go. 10 - McDermott - Two games against the Pats and not a legitimate offensive touchdown? 8-7 is 8-7. Yes there are improvements on the team, but there are also steps back and the end result stays the same. He had these guys ready, but still allows the same tragedy to occur on the field. !@#$ Gronk. !@#$ the Refs. !@#$ Brady. !@#$ the Pats. Go Bills and Merry !@#$ing Christmas
-
I get that Brady is possibly one of the greatest of all time. I know our record over the past 20 years against them. I know the genius of the Hoodie and how unstoppable Gronk is. I don't !@#$ing care. They are men. They were beaten badly by the dolphins. They don't have anywhere near on the line what we have. Tyrod is playing for a contract. This regime has shown that anyone is expendable. The playoffs are within our control for the first time in a long time. I want to see some fire! I want to see McDermott reach into the bag of tricks. I want to see Brady on his ass. I want to see Gronk get punched in the mouth. !@#$ the process. !@#$ the history. I want to see our men smack the Hoodies men around the field tomorrow. Merry !@#$ing Christmas Everyone!

When healthy.....

I’ve said this in another thread, but I can’t understate the loss of Gaines during that drought. We are depth deficient right now and I expect that to get shored up before next year.

Nitpicky topic: opening kickoff
Virgil replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don’t think he had time. That ball died quickly and the dolphins were coming fast. He had to be quick to grab it or things may have gotten a lot more interesting -
Dude had back surgery. There’s no way he’s 100% out there

The defender made contact, but if he caught it clean, he could have held on. Zay needs to make that catch. -

I thought about Cutler as a MVP, but also thought that was a dick move. Imagine what it would be like if TT had a WR he felt a connection like he did with Clay. We could even name him Sammy -
Does not trying to make a thread like this, weekly it seems, not put the poster in the same class as those being called out?

Playoffs? Playoffs?? The Playoff Chances Thread
Virgil replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don’t see why more people aren’t focusing on the Ravens. All we we have to do is beat the Dolphins again and have the Ravens lose 1 more game. Is that really so unrealistic?
