Well then, just on that alone you’re smarter than me ... not even close. You win this debate. -

You mentioned “Marines” - not me. -
“Like a Rolodex..... “ .... perfectly stated - PERFECT! And with regard to Tom Jackson’s statements, Bill Parcells was on that show too and said basically said the same thing. it was the beginning of the playoffs and for the AFC he predicted the Bills would make the SB. But I stand by my earlier post, worst Bills season for me as a fan (or any season of any sport ) is the Bills of 1985.

So besides reading comprehension challenges, your math is lousy too. I seriously believe you (and only a few others ) totally overlooked my post about about strategy, John Harbaugh and the modern NFL. In all seriousness, I refuse to believe ur that ignorant. If we can’t move on, for the sake of the other contributors here, let’s get some integrity back to this thread. Besides you and me, everyone else is likely fed up with our back and forth. The back and forth we had ruined a good thread. Can we at least agree on that ? -
Is Stidham any good?
BillsNutHawaii replied to Victory Formation's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like Stidham a lot ... smart, confident, mature and seemed to grasp the game really well as a rookie. And on top of that, he could spend a whole year observing T Brady. I wish JA’s rookie year could have been like Stidhams first season. I definitely understand pats fans excitement here and believe Stidham is the guy for the Patriots for the upcoming season - and it seems the Pats organization believes the same thing. Will be fun to watch. Their defense will keep them in every game and allow their young QB to recover from the inevitable mistakes he will make. Dolphins and Jets had great drafts this year too. Not enough to change the order of the division this coming season, but in 2021 / 2022 I think we will see them turn the tide. If Bills GM keeps drafting well and manages the teams salary cap like he has been, I don’t see the Jets or Phins overtaking the Bills anytime soon. -
I hope you’re wrong, but I think by the end of the 2021 season you could be right about Fromm. I don’t hate JA, I think he’s a truly great guy, really nice too. But if we are looking for the nicest guy to be the QB, then I’ll nominate my neighbor. And it’s not that Fromm is / will be great .... I’m just not sure JA will consistently be able to avoid injury and I’m not sure he will ever be able to translate the game to the satisfaction of the HC.... hope I’m wrong.

Yeah, I was over there at that thread already. Can’t see how we can afford him within the constraints of the salary cap, even if the team moves on from Trent Murphy as some have suggested. Also, it seems the GM always wants to leave a good chunk of salary cap space when going into a new season. But he’s a salary cap genius - so anything is possible with him. Will be interesting to watch that situation evolve. -

Everyone? Check again - a whole lot more thumbs up with my analysis/ feedback here on this topic. -
The 1985 season, a second consecutive 2-14 season, was just too much for me to withstand. My justification: - No signs of improvement from the previous season - losing players to the USFL - team is getting blasted with regularity. - uniform / helmet change bc Joe Ferguson supposedly had challenges distinguishing team mates from division opponents downfield (that’s actually attributed to 1984) Then Joe Ferguson, the inspiration for the change, departs .... for a 7th round pick from Lions which to my knowledge we never received. - The Vince Ferragamo / Bruce Mathison QB “battle” - Jim Kelly laughing at Buffalo via national media, although he certainly made amends, but in 1985 we didn’t realize he would later make up for it. - Bruce Smith relegated to the bench (I’ll always remember the photo of him in SI, or some national sports magazine at the time, doing push-ups for some practice related infraction he committed). - Kay Stephenson gets fired mid season and things get worse with Hank Bullough - Patrick McGroder passes away (January 15, 1986) which could technically be considered part of the 1985 season. FYI Pat McGroder was key to bringing pro football back to Buffalo....post AAFC, (All American Football Conference) .... From what I learned, we can thank George Halas for that debacle.... but I diverge .. that’s for another thread. Anyway, that season was a total mess. Was there a Bills season which was actually worse than this ... if so, I would be curious to know which season that would be. Thoughts ?

Aha, I get it now, you guys got me! I should have known. I’m the “newbee” and you were trying to get me to believe you were actually that naive..... and I took the bait and ran with it! I can’t believe it - I didnt even think of it.... it must be the 85 degree weather, palm trees all over, and all the sunshine that got to me. Or my recent trip to Tokyo Japan, Seoul Korea, and the Philippines with associated jet lag which caused me to overlook the obvious (you guys were just “joshing me” - all forgiven) take care and best !!! -

Oh yeah, I can see you’re pro. You made me laugh today, thanks. On a serious note...oh nevermind, if you don’t get it now, you never will. Wow, I’m really getting a crash course today learning how piss poor reading comprehension is for some on this page. If you want to have a differing opinion, that’s fine. I’m not trying to convince you of anything at all, believe whatever you want to believe. You think I care that you disagree ? Lol -

Excellent, I’m wrong, you win, leave me alone, have a nice weekend Nevermind, I'm tired of explaining, I’m wrong, you’re right, leave me alone, have a nice weekend -
Serious question, what position would he play for Buffalo? The team is already at least 9 deep on the defensive line or is OLB a consideration ? Additionally, last I read the team has just below $21 million remaining on their salary cap (that was before the draft). Unless my information isn’t accurate, or he takes a salary below $10 mil, I’m not seeing how he gets paid for. Any addition insight here ?

I would just never reveal my tactics / strategy to an opponent ...nothing good can come out of it..... Bill Belicheck keeps his mouth shut and the results speak for themselves .... and that goes well beyond football -

If you read the article and listened to the interview with the HC there was much more to it than the motto..... I also replied to another comment in this thread about John Harbaugh and a meeting with him ... you may find it enlightening about how the modern NFL is functioning ....and then perhaps you’ll come to the conclusion my remarks aren’t really a stretch, or believe what you want, I’m certainly not pushing you.... I’m just here to share in pleasant exchanges -

I can somewhat agree with your sentiment. But my line of work (US Army) for 26 years made me that way - that’s my (lame) excuse. On another but similar note, HC John Harbaugh came to my Command (HQ, INDO-PACOM here on Oahu in Hawaii) to speak with senior leaders about military planning, strategy, operational concepts with the purpose of modifying and implementing these tactics into his football operation. In return he also shared some of his organizational practices with us. So in summary, the “over analysis” as you put it, has been and currently is quite prevalent in the NFL. -
Thanks. Also, I just remembered Cookie Gilchrist and I exchanged letters for a short period of time after I read about his challenges in a Buffalo News article. I recall now he was living in some kind of elderly care home in Latrobe, Pennsylvania and he was soliciting some money in exchange for a shirt with the hope to raise money for his ailment. Cookie sent me a detailed hand written and signed letter - it was nice. Unfortunately I was going through some financial hardship at the time and was in no way able to contribute. Then I think he got a bit “sour” with me when I couldn’t send $ (I’m guessing he was - I have no proof). Anyone else get involved in this endeavor with Cookie ?
