  1. Dorsey would have to do some Urban Meyer type s**t to get fired that quick. If the offense struggles, he has to be given time. If the Bills management is going to have that short of a leash, you don’t make that hire in the first place.
  2. You’re also discounting Dion not being himself for the majority of the season. When healthy, he is the best player on our o-line and when he got better our o-line also did better last year. Sure he isn’t the sole the reason, but it’s also worth noting and not discounting as you did. It’s probably better to think of the additions we picked in regards to the end of the season o-line play. That was more in line with how our o-line should have played, and will play this year (+ the additions).
  3. Perhaps it comes down to something as simple as Knox vs Tremaine as far as resigning goes? Their costs should be pretty close. I’m sure Beane can find a way to keep both too, but at a minimum, it should be as simple as this.
  4. Just because you believe someone should say something a certain way, doesn’t mean they have to say it that specific way. There are so many subtleties in communication, everyone has their own style and flavor. You should never expect someone to communicate a certain way only. Here’s a question. Would it have been better for McCoy to say something much closer to the event? Does it look worse saying something closer to the event (and possibly more emotional messaging being so close to the event) or saying something a couple years later? For me personally, I see waiting to say something as the least sour grapes approach. McCoy didn’t come off as overly emotional about it all, and he was very coy about it all. I personally don’t see anything wrong with he how handled this.
  5. It’s pretty obvious McCoy is speculating why based off of personal experience. In addition, would it be unreasonable to suspect he may have heard some information either first, second, or third hand about reasons a team or two didn’t hire him? Bienemy has interviewed a lot and McCoy’s been around the league enough to have many league wide contacts. I don’t know why you are on such a crusade here. It’s not without reason to assume McCoy might know a little bit more than any of us. That being the case, his comment can’t simply be dismissed by a reasonable person.
  6. You know it is possible for him to be both bitter and telling the truth. As another poster said, we have all run into those people who are intelligent, but can’t read a room to save their life. People like this project different personas like quiet and passive, or aggressive and loud (like a bull in a china shop), really awkward, etc. We’ve all seen it from time to time. it’s very clear Bieniemy isn’t getting a job for more reasons than simply not being considered the architect of KC’s offense. Think about the info about Bieniemy from the Chiefs world (the one that was redacted). Even though it was redacted, where there’s smoke there is fire, and Shady’s comment just adds more smoke (not proof, but info that it may be true). If he really is the type that has some sort of communication issue, I’m sure it’s obvious to the interviewers during the coach hiring process, and more often than not, those traits are going to hurt being in a head coach position. In the end, we don’t know. But Shady worked with him, interacted with him, so he is going to know better than any of us, and he alluded to Bieniemy having some sort of communication issue. We also know he hasn’t been able to land a head coaching job. At this point, it’s hard to discount that there might be to this than him simply working with Andy Reid as an O coordinator.
  7. The OP and others like him need to read up on the Dunning-Kruger effect. Essentially, when someone doesn’t know a subject well, they think they know it all in regards to that subject. Then the more one learns, the less they believe they know about that subject, until they truly are experts in that subject and understand that they are. https://www.verywellmind.com/an-overview-of-the-dunning-kruger-effect-4160740
  8. Best season statistically? If so, what makes you say that? the Chiefs will continue to see 2 high looks, limiting the big plays, and now no Tyreek who was good for big time plays and thus big time stats. Of course Mahomes will play very well this season, but I believe it’s a stretch to think he will have his best season yet (statistically speaking). Perhaps best season as far as taking what’s available, moving the ball, and overall offensive success (as in points scored, not so much stats success). If that’s the case, I certainly can’t discount that. The AFC is loaded and the Chiefs have a hard schedule to go with their very hard division. Like many say, the Chiefs can’t be discounted, however, that doesn’t mean Mahomes is going to have his best year. I don’t think Mahomes has best statistical season this year, too much going against that.
  9. Consider this. With Levi our defense had to play to cover for him some. Now that we picked up Elam we will have two athletic outside corners (when Tre’s healthy). Perhaps if Bernard has some pass coverage limitations (Cover1 mentioned more about his deeper pass coverage abilities, like how Tremaine can cover the deep middle) but the two more athletic outside corners can allow the defense to cover a potential limitation from Bernard on some of the deeper stuff. Ultimately, like you mentioned about Bernard’s ability to be a mlb (green dot), perhaps this move was made to replace Tremaine after this season? Bernard is definitely the guy I’m most excited to see in training camp and pre season. Just to see how he is used and how he performs. He sounds like someone who will have a role year 1, even if that’s lb #3 and special teams.
  10. To add, it was a 2024 7th round pick. That’s like less than nothing. Chiefs can easily recoup that pick next draft too. One thing about the Bills not making a deal for this guy. Even though the Bills have done a great job at cb’s brought into the team, perhaps part of that reason is by being selective in who they choose?
  11. I like your point, and there is a good merit to it. However, Taron Johnson is no slouch (he’s becoming one of the best slot corners) and we would be taking him off of the field for a rookie. Also (I only heard the Cover1 guys talk about this), but it sounds like Bernard doesn’t have good hip movement which will hurt his ability to play pass coverage, and then combine that with this lack of top end speed, and it’s not even guaranteed he can vary a defender down the field. Bernards films shows him being at his best in either close to mid range, and shooting gaps with quickness and agility (good at avoiding blocks and not engaging). To me, this feels like a Klein replacement with some potential to give us more options in the 4-3 defense. We needed depth at lber and we got it. I’m curious how Bernard compares to Taron in a slot/big safety role, but Taron is damn good, and it would be alot to expect Bernard to take his starting spot during the season, and especially early in the season.
  12. We signed Saffold, matched Boettgers offer, and drafted two RT’s last year and there has only been 1 round of the draft. Chill! Our team is in good shape and let’s see how the draft shakes out.
  13. Allen in year 3 against the Raiders was injured while out of the pocket (but looking to pass, not run). Granted he finished the game and didn’t miss any games from the injury, but he was certainly hurt.
  14. Good point about possibly waiting until after the draft. It certainly seems Beane has made his price point clear and it’s a matter who takes it. Playing for a super bowl contender, even if making less than one wanted, has be a perk for some. About the rookie signing contributing to a Super Bowl win, I was being facetious. Basically, as long we win the Super Bowl this year, I’m good ☺️ But your right, our draft picks need to be made more with the future in mind. It seems like cb, rb, iol, and wr are the positions that have a chance of more immediate contribution to one degree or another. Question, assuming we don’t sign a vet cb (or atleast starter quality level) before the draft, does that make you want cb in the first over the wr’s you listed? Would you be willing to wait for a cb in the second/third or later? Personally, I don’t know. I’d be happy with a number of directions, we really are in a nice place going into this draft. I trust the wizard to make the right call.
  15. Good point. His biggest moves in the first were Josh and Diggs.
  16. Williams is looking like a nice option if we are able to snag him. Him, Diggs, and Davis would be very hard to handle (especially when throwing Knox into the equation). I’m very curious to see what we do at cb before the draft. They have to sign someone, even if it’s just a depth signing. A BPA approach at 25 has the chance of landing us a very good player regardless of position. Whatever we do, I just want to see a pick who contributes to us winning the Super Bowl this season 😉 however that contribution is.
  17. There are a number of reasons. We could go cb, or another position. Or we could even take another wr. Who knows who the Bills value the most. I’m not saying I’m against Watson. I’d love a wr like him added to our team. I’m just pointing out it’s not like we have a couple options. With the Digg’s new contract, I could see the Bills valuing a wr who has major slot potential. I know Williams does, but does Watson also have slot potential? The draft can’t come soon enough. I can’t wait to see who is added to our team. To be fair, he said first round, so you have to add Edmonds too 😆 Either way, Beane values talent and not necessarily defense or offense.
  18. I would have liked Bobby Wagner as the vet fill in. Too bad. It’s going to be interesting to see what happens with Edmonds. If he gets resigned, even at a reasonable deal, this place will be wild 🤣 Personally, I want to see more from our mlb, but I understand it’s not a given either.
  19. I completely understand your rationale, and if the Bills have a target in mind who could replace him with little to no drop off, I’m sure they make the move for the reasons you stated. It’s just, I find it highly unlikely this staff is going to feel that comfortable about a rookie. Especially when don’t have anyone decent enough on the roster as it is. We never know about Beane, and I can imagine it would irritate him to let Edmonds walk away for nothing. Like most things, there will be several factors in making a decision like this. Whatever Beane does, it better keep us strong for a super bowl push this year.
  20. Your example of Whaley taking a patchwork type of approach is a good one. That seems to be one of his biggest mistakes team building wise. Beane’s approach was greatly aided by us making the playoffs year 1 (even though he didn’t draft that year). Imagine if we didn’t make the playoffs that first year, while “tanking”. Going into year 3 (year 2 for Josh) and Beane’s seat would have been getting warm. I’m glad everything worked out the way I did though.
  21. I find certain clips, like the Bills playoffs hype videos cool. But otherwise, I find much more meaningful football discussion in places like this forum. I find GMFB for the most part, parrots all of the media (NFL media coverage) talking points. Nothing very illuminating coming from that show for me personally.
  22. We are all in on a super bowl this year. Unless the Bills can bring in someone equal to or better than Edmonds, he isn’t being moved before this season. Who replaces Edmonds? For sure he could be better, but he also plays a vital role to our defense.
  23. This draft doesn’t have very much elite talent, so it doesn’t make sense to move up to get a top tier prospect who wouldn’t even be top tier most drafts. Cheap starters are going to play a pivotal role moving forward, so trading 1st round draft picks should be as a last resort type of thing. We should have good options at corner at pick 25 and the difference between what our options are at 25 vs what it costs to move up, isn’t enough to make it worth it. Most mocks have Kyler Gordon available at 25, and I’d love him as the pick. I’d be very shocked if we move up in the first. If we do, I’d be even more shocked if the move up was more than a handful of spots.
  24. I had high hopes for him last season and it would be great for him to take a step forward. But honestly, at this point we can’t value him any more than Hodgins, both of them haven’t done anything in the NFL. This years camp will be huge for Stevenson, he’ll be fighting to make the team though. Who knows where the Bills draft a wr this season, but with our offense it feels like we should probably snag at least 1 wr every draft and keep a nice healthy pipeline in place. WR’s are being paid crazy money and Josh is going to make a lot of guys some money, so we need guys waiting in the wings.
  25. You don’t bank on replacing Diggs with a rookie and getting even close to Diggs level production year 1. Anything less than Diggs level production is greatly hurting our chances at a SuperBowl. This is no time to be playing the long game, if so, it was pointless to pick up Von who’s contract will keep us from signing some of our own in the next year or two (meaning, more holes that have to be filled). For us in a Super Bowl window, I would be ok trading future draft picks, I’d be much happier with that than trading a starter, to just make a hole. What your saying is very true, but is also very counterproductive to winning a Super Bowl this season. I’m fine with a long term approach, but I’m not fine with that approach after signing Von. It would signal the front office is a little scattered (maybe owner meddling because of the stadium deal?).
