  1. I wasn't that high on Allen to be honest. Beane and the scouting staff hit a grand slam. That pick transformed the Bills into a winning team and playoff contender for years. Hopefully it leads to a Super Bowl win.
  2. I agree. I think the Beane and company are much better drafting in the later rounds. Not sure why.
  3. If the Bills had Bernard as their BPA then they are seriously flawed and perhaps clueless. By most experts boards Bernard was projected to go somewhere in the 5th round. I remember so many pounding the table for Parham.
  4. It depends on your expectations of the team. If you are fine with a good regular season record and playoff appearances then this current regime should remain intact. If you want Super Bowl appearances and a Lombardi Trophy it's unlikely to happen with this regime. Fraizer's has shown time after time his defense is not good enough in the playoffs. I see nothing that gives me optimism in Fraizer's D. Imho, it's time for a defensive change. Dorsey is very raw and learning on the job. Not ideal when you are chasing the elusive ring. Hard to know how he will develop as an OC. We have a one year sample that has mixed results at best. For the most part, I think Allen and his raw talent bailed him out and hid Dorsey's short comings. I saw a Dorsey offense that lacked motion and creative plays, inconsistent game plan, lack of identity, and didn't utilize all his player's skill sets. I suppose he deserves another year to improve. Josh and him seem to be pretty close. With that said, it's difficult for me to get excited about having Dorsey back. I feel like it more like wait and see with rather than excitement to see his dynamic offensive schemes. Not ideal... Lastly, let's talk about Coach McD. Hard not to like his character. Outstanding man who has built a high character team, a winning culture, and represents and wears Buffalo on his sleeve. Would really be hard pressed to find such a high caliber person to coach this team. For years, I was a big McD fan. His players respect and play hard for him. His knack for saying and doing the right things on and off the field. Slowly turning the team into a winning machine. Playoff after playoff appearance. I thought it's only a matter of time before this team accomplishes what the team of the 90s couldn't do. Then 13 seconds happened and my mindset changed. I grew angry at the coaching staff and more specifically McD. I hold him ultimately responsible for that colossal blunder. His response afterwards left many Bills fans empty. As time passed the emotions of anger turned into sadness. Sadness turned into forgiveness. Forgiveness turned into hope. The Bills were the talk of the NFL. Super Bowl favorites. This was clearly going to be the year!!!. We know the rest as I digress. I see the good and not so good with Coach MCD. For me, McD has probably earned at least another year to coach the Bills. Not sure anyone else out there can lead the team to the ultimate goal. However, I have some serious doubt McD can succeed. So far, he's really come up short. The last 2 years have been quite disappointing in the playoffs. Running it back with these three coaching just seems very uninspiring and uncreative. Especially, after the pounding they received from Cinci in Buffalo. Just my two cents.
  5. It's likely he gets paid by the Bills. Certainly, based on his previous years play he doesn't deserve it. This year he was well above average. His best season by far. One of the bright spots on the D. If we get that kind of guy or better he's probably worth it. I just don't like that he isn't a big play guy. By that I mean getting huge sacks and timely INTs. He's solid, not flashy, and a lot of what he does goes unnoticed. I'm on the fence with him but leaning towards signing him.
  6. They drafted LB Bernard in the 3rd round. Maybe he's the replacement? The organization is investing in the younger guys and projecting them to learn and play better. So maybe Bernard is next man up.
  7. Not a huge fan of Edmunds. Beane actually is and all his comments indicate he will give Edmunds the big money. Edmunds actually played well this year. You could actually see the significant drop off when he wasn't in the line up. However, was this more of a one hot season due to his contract year? His previous years weren't nearly as productive. I think his signing or not signing will tell us what direction the team wants to go. Sign him and solidify the defense. Create a hole get a stop gap LB and put the money towards the offense. I think they will resign Edmunds.
  8. Well said Simon. That's best case scenario. Gonna be hard to find that blue chip starting RT though.
  9. Starting OL PFF Grades: D. Dawkins: 73.5 R. Saffold: 43.7 M. Morse: 61.4 R. Bates: 61.8 S. Brown: 51.4 I think the Bills have some big holes to fill.
  10. Depends on your perspective and expectations. The Bills looked good statistically with regards to the regular season. They won 13 games and the AFC East title. Certainly there's a positive. They are a good team. The playoffs were a much different story. The Bills were very fortunate to beat the Dolphins. We know the Cinci story. To say the Bills fell short is a vast understatement. The way they lost should open up everyone's eyes. Did you hear a solid plan from Beane or McD? My take is they are running it back with the same coaches and hoping for a healthy return of players while others improve. What did you hear? Are you are ok with nice regular season? A nice record and early playoff exits? That exactly what this regime has given us. Six years ago that was more than acceptable. Fast forward to today and I think its safe to say the standards have changed. Now is the time to seriously question whether the Beane McD regime has run its course. I believe they have earned another shot but my confidence they can progress is dwindling.
  11. That's another way to look at it. Certainly valid points. What's really concerning is the ease and dominance that Cinci beat the Bills in their own building. Hard to overlook, minimize, or excuse that despite the injuries you have mentioned. It was very clear the Bills didn't belong on the same field with the Bengals. Was it lack of talent? Surely that's part of it. Secondly, it's hard to swallow how out coached and out schemed the Bills coaching staff was. To this day, I have no idea what they did differently from that Monday night game. They learned nothing from the Bengals two dominate drives? To put it bluntly, Fraizer and Dorsey got taken to the woodshed. Coach McD had no answers, a poor game plan, and little effective game time adjustments. The coaching staff equally lost this game. That really shouldn't be erased, acceptable, or diminished. Yet, Beane comes out and says he's not placing too much emphasis on one game. Go back and look what he's said in previous end of season pressers. He has repeatedly stated you are as good as your last game. That game will tell you what your weaknesses are and where you need to improve. Talk about a 180? How can we fans feel confident with such a glaring contradiction?
  12. Great point. I think it is too much for the coaching staff to do so. They have little creative ability on defense. They go back to their standard defense for the most part. They have lacked the ability to have game plan that takes away their opponents strengths. This is one of the major reasons why serious change is needed.
  13. The Bills are going into next season with Spencer Brown at RT. He has underwhemled at that position since he's been there. Certainly, a big question mark going into next season. The Bills are going into next season hoping he improves. That's not an ideal situation. Seems like that's the theme of next season with several guys. That mindset certainly hurt the Bills passing game this year as Gabe, McKenzie, and Shakir underperformed for various reasons.
  14. What is this coaching regime going to do differently? How are they going to improve? You know what you are getting in Fraizer. Nice stats for the regular season. A false sense that the defense is good due to the stats. Come playoff time his defense will fold like a cheap suit. Dorsey doesn't inspire me as being the answer. He was so predictable, uncreative, and outclassed. Another year of on the job training. Coach McD is a high character guy. Hard not to like him as a person. He has built a close knit team that plays hard for him. However, in recent years Coach McD has been out coached and out classed. His game plans have been suspect and his in game adjustments are near non existent. Add it all up and this coaching regime will fall short next year too. The Bills organization needs new blood, positive scheme changes on defense and offense. Most importantly better players. Beane gave us nothing but excuses and false hopes. The same goes for what Fraizer and Dorsey offer. The Bills are on the decline. Miami might be better than the Bills, the Jets with a viable QB might be too. The Jags, Chargers, Balt, Pitt, etc will be formidable as well. My expectations of this team are fairly low. I'd say one and done in the playoffs to possibly not making them at all.
  15. I think what's more realistic is Diggs could be a problem if the teams is losing. He the ultimate competitor. He has a temper and wears his feelings on his sleeve. I can see him calling out players and coaches. McD calmed him down once but I'm not sure he gets another chance. It's something to watch in the future. The coaches could very well hear grumbling if things go south.
  16. I agree 100%. Almost feels like the organization has thrown in the towel sort of speak. Very unlikely this team sniffs the Super Bowl. Do you really think the team won't have significant injuries next year? That's just not realistic. I'm saddened and frustrated that this Bills organization thinks this group of coaches with its players can compete for a Super Bowl. I'm not buying it one bit but I know so many on here will.
  17. Agree but Kromer's oline didn't look very good throughout most of the season. For some guy who is supposed to be the best oline coach around it was a disappointing performance.
  18. Look at the Chiefs and how they have remained elite. They concentrated on forming an outstanding oline. Got rid of the best WR in the league for am abundance of picks. Surrounded their franchise QB with mediocre Wrs and Rbs. Now look at the Bills.
  19. He looked like Tom Brady vs the Bills. Wouldn't you agree? The Bills generated some pressure. He escaped the pressure and ran or throw a dart to his pass catchers
  20. That's more than fair. As for myself, I would take Allen over Burrow without hesitation. His physical traits are one of a kind. However, Burrow has a certain it factor that's very difficult to put into words and measure. I think this is where he has the slight edge on Allen. A winner in college and led a team to the Super Bowl with an awful oline. Now likely to appear in another Super Bowl. Watching him last Sunday reminded me of watching Tom Brady. Wouldn't you agree. How he read the defense and with precision picked apart the Bills secondary. I told me son wow he reminds me of Brady in real time. Meanwhile, Allen was missing passes to a wide open Diggs for a TD. Sure he was under pressure but he still has to make that pass! With better team help on the oline and more weapons I can totally see Allen outshining Burrow. Problem is can and will this happen. Until them Allen's talent and accomplishments will be stunted.
  21. I agree but one premise is flawed in your argument. The defense vs Cinci was terrible. Cinci scored at will and the Bills could not stop them. The Bengals scored 5 tines in their first 7 possessions. One of those possessions was when the clock ran out at halftime. Cinci ran the ball with ease add well as passing with ease. The defense had no answers. You fail to see that Cinci was burning the clock in controlled methodical precision. The Bills pass rush was ineffective vs a 2nd string oline. With that said, I agree with your premise. The Bills should focus 95% of their attention on the offense. Try to outscore teams. The defense is not reliable. Anything you can't out of them is a bonus. All in on the offense!
  22. Don't lie to yourself. The Bengals have a lot more player talent than the Bills. They are light years ahead of Buffalo in the WR category. Obviously, both their lines are by far superior than the Bills. At this point Burrow is better than Allen. Hate to say it but he looks almost flawless when he plays. The guy knows how to carve an offense, escape pressure, and lead his team to big wins. He's a winner! He's not as physically gifted but I believe he's a better all around QB. He looks Tom Brady like while Allen looks like Brett Favre. High risk and high reward. The Bills are better on special teams. That's about it.
  23. You don't see a lot of holes? You have to be kidding me. You are as good as your last game. Did you see the last game the Bills played? Both lines got destroyed, the Bills secondary couldn't stop the pass and the line couldn't stop the run. The Bills offense scored 10 points. The best WR for the Bills was Cole Beasley. I did like the Bills punter though. The guy gave the Bills zero production. When he sniffed the field he was bad. The pick was a huge reach and never made sense. Stop trying to see the glass half full here because it's empty.
  24. I doubt he has a breakout season. We have seen him for several years now. He is what he is. (People have been saying the very same thing about AJ.) He's not worth 11 mil. He's too light in the butt and often gets pushed around at the point of attack. He's average at best. However, he's one of better DL men the Bills have. Says a lot about how inept the Bills pass rushers are. Beane has really screwed the poouch in this area.
  25. Great perspective. Agree a play caller but the other in depth needed skills aren't there. The Bills offense paid a deep price for his inexperience and lack of depth. Bills offense was excellent in 3rd down conversions. I'd agree it was more Allen's credit than Dorsey. That down is known as the QB down for a reason.
