  1. I suppose so. I think today's modern days athletes can drown out much of the outside noise. Truthfully, I don't think the media hype or lack of had any effect of the Bills players. They are really trained and focused at playing one game at a time. Boom! A dose of reality even if it's not so rosey is appreciated.
  2. Not over but it's reasonable to think to think the Bills playoff run and Super Bowl aspirations have gotten significantly more difficult. The AFC east is likely the toughest division in football, KC looks to be a dynasty team, Cinci with Burrow have surpassed the Bills, and others like LA, Jac, Balt, Pitt, etc are in the mix. In short, maybe Bills fans should temper their expectations for this team.
  3. That's fair. I guess I'm still not over what happened. I can't help but feel that 13 seconds cost the Bills a Super Bowl. Of course, that's just my opinion and not fact. With that said, I still hold animosity towards McD. I know it's shallow but being honest here. I am unable to look at him in the same positive light. It doesn't mean he's not a good coach or a good guy. I think he's both. Perhaps, unrealistically I can't help but feel McD is the next Marty S. Six years of Allen and still no Super Bowl appearances and great regular season records. The similarity is perhaps unfair but similar too. I get it's a smaller sample size and others like Reid have excelled. More specifically, the Bills absolutely blew the great opportunities the last two years. That leaves a sour taste in my mouth. The excuses like injuries fall short in my eyes. Fast forward to this year and I see teams vastly closing in on the Bills. We know the teams. I see two AFC teams that are better than the Bills. We know who they are. As a result, I see a tougher path and a more unlikely path that this team makes a Super Bowl appearence. I won't give up hope. Beane and McD have clearly built a great team and I'm grateful. However, both have fallen short in their goal. I get it that it's hard to win it all. Nevertheless, isn't that what we all want and deserve?
  4. Exactly how I feel. I think one could reasonable argue their roster is better than Buffalo's.
  5. He's a McD character type guy. Get it done Beane! This team need to add some nastiness. The clapping, smiling, skipping, and good guy attitude falls short year after year. Look at how Cinci blew the team out of the water. Remember, what the Chiefs did in 13 seconds? A nasty, aggressive, and perhaps dirty player would have ripped the gonads off of Kelce at the line.
  6. No on the fence for me. Rodgers instantly puts the Jets in the discussion for winning the division and the Super Bowl. I believe on paper the Jets are a better team than the Bills. Their defense is outstanding. Breece Hall looked special and their WRs are young and good. Last year, the difference was Allen vs the Jets poor QBs. Even the inept Zach Wikson made plays to beat the Bills. Now the QB situation is no longer a huge mismatch for the Jets.
  7. I'll still take Allen over anyone but Mahomes and Burrow. Point being Allen hasn't made a Super Bowl appearance or hoisted a Lombardi Trophy. Obviously, it's not all on him. However, modern day football is all about the rings. As a result, the negativity will drift towards him rightly or wrongly so.
  8. Rodgers puts the Jets right there with Miami and the Bills. Any of the three teams can win the division. It's gonna be a dogfight. The path for the Bills isn't easy. Some might think the Bills don't even have the best QB in the division. Tua is a winner and Rodgers is a Super Bowl winner and multiple MVP winner. Allen has nice regular season wins.
  9. That's why it's imperative that the Bills acquire Dhop. I suspect Knox will be still blocking often. Brown is a down right scary starting tackle. Hopefully, he can improve and stay healthy. Saffold was a terrible pick up by Beane. That whiff really hurt the Bills last year. This year's oline pick ups look much more promising. You have much more faith in Beane than I do.
  10. The Bills use their TE position as a 3rd and 4th passing options much of the time. Knox gets good redzone looks and that will likely continue. The Bills offense is built largely on tight ends who can block. Just look at how often Knox is blocking instead if being targeted in the past game. Kincaid just isn't a fit for what the Bills do on offense. I just don't see how a newly drafted TE moves the needle much in the Bills offense system/scheme. The Bills desperately need a legit number 2 WR. Sorry Gabe ain't that guy! I'm really thinking that Beane will bring Dhop to Buffalo. That's a game changer move that opens up things for Diggs and Davis.
  11. The Bills can definetly roll out Knox and Morris and be fine. Perhaps a late round TE pick. I'm not in favor of an early round TE pick. The Bills offense is just not TE friendly. They barely utilize Knox effectively in the passing game. I do not think Dorsey and his offense will suddenly be effective in two tight end sets. Nor do I think Kincaid unseats Knox for the starting role. I'd rather go boom or bust with Johnston than go with a hybrid TE whose likely to see limited playing time in a system that rarely takes advantage of the TE position.
  12. Kincaid just isn't a smart pick for the Bills. TE is not a priority and the Bills offensive scheme isn't TE orientated. His usage is likely limited and likely moves the needle in a limited fashion. I'm relatively confident a better player and fit will be available at 27. If not, I'm pretty confident the Bills can trade back or up to get their player. I just don't see Kincaid being on the Bills radar.
  13. I'm not really buying into the Gabe injury excuse. He was plenty heathly for most of the season: especially down the stretch. He simply didn't produce as well as many fans expected. Davis arguably has one of the best QBs throwing him the ball. One of the best QBs extending plays. Ask yourself how much better does Allen make Davis? What kind of WR would he be with an average QB? I'd argue Allen makes Davis look better than he is. One stat that really rears its ugly head is Gabe's catch rate and drops. His catch ratio was 51% and his drop rate was 10% You just can't spin that into goodness. At best, he's a mediocre number two with an elite QB padding his stats. Imho, he's as replaceable as it gets. No way is he worth a 15 million plus contract. Imho, the prudent strategic move would be to trade him, let him walk, sign Dhop, or draft a promising WR saving millions on a rookie contract.
  14. Gabe's success is largely tide into the success and threat of WR #1 Diggs and other solid WR. He can be a very good WR 3 or 4. Imho, he's not a good WR2 because he's limited in his skill set. He lacks the ability to create separation, has a limited route running ability, takes too much time to create space, is poor at contested catches. I think it would be a huge mistake to sign Davis to a large contract in the 10 to 15 million dollar range.
  15. I agree. Davis will likely get a nice contract offer from another team. Of course, a lot will depend on this season's play. I'd rather let Davis walk and draft a cheaper WR on a rookie contract. Davis is definetly replaceable.
  16. That's a fair response. A lot depends on the board when pick 27 happens. As for myself, I'm not really a huge fan of a TE who really isn't a TE but plays TE; yet he's supposed to be playing like a WR even though he's a TE. I really can't point to a lot of success under this scenario. (I'm no fan of these " tweeners.") The one who comes to mind with limited success is Engram for the Jags who was drafted by the Giants. With that said, the TE depth is very good. On many people's board Kincaid isn't even their top rated TE. I'm fairly confident that a much more sound and logical player will be available at pick 27 than Kincaid. I am on the record saying Kincaid is likely a poor pick for the Bills at 27.
  17. I think you are not looking at the whole picture with respect. I really don't think the Bills offensive staff will utilize the skill set of Kincaid. Not trying to sound negative but he really isn't a fit for the Bills offense. Rather then looking at just the player look at the team, the coaching staff, team needs, teams tendencies, and the schematic offense of the Bills. All of this adds up to a mistake for the Bills to draft Kincaid at 27. Hope that gives you a different perspective. The answer for the offense isn't Kincaid or another TE. It's upgrading the Oline and WR core. Of course, feel free to disagree.
  18. I think that's getting way too cute sort of speak. The Bills offense really isn't the type of offense you are suggesting with Kincaid. Dorsey wasn't able to string together plays that set up future plays. Basically, he called individual plays on a play by play basis. There is no real need for the Bills to draft a TE. I can't emphasis this enough! Not sure what the fan perception is to why a TE is the answer to the Bills offense. The answer is better Oline protection and an upgrade at the WR position. I'd add when have you really seen a difference maker TE drafted since Gronk and Kelce? Without doing research it sure seems like highly drafted TEs under preform at a higher rate than other positions. Im sure I will be corrected if I'm wrong. I hope the Bills pass on drafting a TE.
  19. At no time was Johnston ever considered the number 1 WR in this draft. Johnston comes with enormous risk and higher ceiling than many in the draft. I'm not sure he's worth the risk. Depends on who is available. The pick is a scary one in my eyes.
  20. Imho, it would likely be a strategic error picking a TE in the 1st round. Of course it depends on who is available. Nevertheless, there will be ample players to draft that make much much more sense. Quinton Johnson is a pretty scary pick. It's boom or bust in my eyes. His size is very appealing but his catching ability or lack of is equally concerning. I'd much rather prefer Addison, Flowers or Mims later in the draft.
  21. I think Bijan goes early because he's going to be ranked top 5 BPA on most teams boards. At some point, the value will be too great to pass up with such a weak draft. No way he is available at pick 27.
  22. Since when have the Bills used a TE as a legitimate weapon? I like the youngster but I have my doubts Dorsey will call plays and run an offense that fully takes advantage of his skills. Very nice analysis. Agree with your take. I'd be pretty bummed if the pick a TE at 27. For me it's oline or WR depending on whole is available. Bingo!
  23. Of course both sides of the ball matter. I don't think anyone would be foolish to take an alternative stance. However, it's become pretty evident that the game has evolved and offenses win Super Bowls. Sure defenses have an important role in winning as does special teams, coaching, game planning, and execution. Ask yourself why does every team without a franchise type QB always search for one? Simple answer is elite QBs lead their team to Lombardi trophies. Defenses traditionally don't in this era of football. The Bears days are long gone. The two best defenses last year were the Eagles and SF. Both defenses couldn't get it done. The days of defenses winning championships has mostly dwindled away. Imho, the Bills should heavily invest in protecting Allen and getting him dynamic weapons. Dhop are you listening? This is the absolute best path for the Bills to hoist a Lombardi Trophy.
