Beane: “working on at least 2 veteran UFA’s”
newcam2012 replied to Warriorspikes51's topic in The Stadium Wall
It cuts both ways here. You want to give Beane credit for doing nothing. Correct? So if the Bills don't acquire Dhop do you give him credit or do you critique his results of not landing him? Curious to see if Beane just can't be wrong in your mind. -
Wow $105 for DTV is a really good price. I was paying around $175 a month once my 12 months discounts ended. I paid for additional boxes, insurance for broken equipment, high def feed, added taxes and fees, DVR genie service, etc... You tube is $73 flat. I added a free trial 4k and unlimited DVR service. It's $10 a month extra. Not sure I will continue it. I added it because my wife was watching a show she supposedly recorded the same day. She fell asleep and when she woke up she was unable to watch it. The system for some reason would allow it. Then when I added that free trial she was able to watch it. Anyone know what might have happened? I don't have a 4k capatable tv. Hoping I don't need the service. Any help is appreciated.

I agree about getting the ticket at a discounted price. Often you could get it free as well. I will miss that for sure. I'd add that DTV was pretty easy to use and I really didn't have any major issues. Nevertheless, YTTV still is a lot cheaper even paying full price for the NFL ticket.

Bills to workout WRs Preston Williams, Marcell Ateman

No Mike Evans for me. He disappears for games at a time. -
Fantastic post! Great insight and breakdown. Agree the coaching schemes have been problematic. Seems to work well in the regular season but not so much come playoff time. I really wanted Fangio to get hired by the Bills. I think he will instantly make the Dolphin defense much better. I really wanted Sean Payton hired as the head coach and take on OC duties. I just have a hard time thinking McD and Dorsey can get this team over the hump. We will find out soon. No doubt. Like another poster talked about its scheme related. The Bills coaching staff doesn't put the players in the best position to succeed. Fraizer and Dorsey were poster boys for this.

I think the Bills offense will be fine. I still think the RB situation is fluid. I don't think Cook is a true number 1 bell cow RB. He looked good towards the end of the year. He's still unproven and learning. We've seen plenty of RBs look good only to have disappointing second seasons. Another big question is Dorsey. Can he juggle the Rbs and use them appropriately? Will he commit to the run? The wide receiving core has improved but beside Diggs is there a difference maker. Will Kincaid have an immediate impact. Although it's possible. Come playoff time teams will blanket Diggs and take him out of the game. Will the Bills have an answer? How will the oline play? Lots of new pieces to the line? No one player is a stud player. Dawkins is solid but frankly I think he's a bit overrated. With that said, he's the least of the Bills worries. Spencer Brown is a huge concern. To this point, all we have is potential. I can see him playing well or terrible. Allen needs to limit the turnovers and stay healthy. As long as that happens, the Bills offense will likely be a top 5 offense. I do feel good that Beane actively addressed the offensive side of the ball. Hopefully, the Bills offense will be extremely good this year.

You have confidence in Spencer Brown?

We will disagree to disagree. It's the cumlative effect that many seem short sighted. Imho, there is a pretty solid history under McD of the Bills falling short in the playoffs. I'd argue its more of a concern than many fans think. If you deep deeper into the Cinci game you can also conclude that the Bills coaching staff was inept and borderline pathetic. Why? (1) The players were NOT ready to play. (2) What was the Bills game plan on both sides of the ball? I mean they had a dress rehearsal weeks before to get things right. The game plan was horrific. (3) What were the game time coaching adjustments? How many fans were calling a Bills win prior to the game? No one was talking about the tough toll of the season. No one was making excuses for the Bills. After the loss, the excuses flowed and flowed. They continue to this day. It's a one off, a bad day, too much to overcome, etc...How about the Bills aren't good enough to reach a Super Bowl; Allen or no Allen. How about the coaching staff is inferior to other quality coaches come playoff time. Is that reasonable? Until this team, coaching regime, and brass can get it done the criticism although tough is warranted. I don't apologize for my criticism.
-
Funny how fans can just see that Cinci pathetic loss as a " one off." You seem to be doing your best interpretation of this. No disrespect intended. He's why that loss is significant. The Bills for 5 years have found ways to lose big playoff games. The Cinci game is another example of bad playoff losses. At some point, players, coaches, and the organization needs to get it done. Fans need to stop making excuses and hold people to accountability.

Hopkins released by Arizona (7/16: signed by Titans)

I wouldn't hate the way the Rams did it either. As a Bills fan, I'm not against the "all in" mentality. One might say with validity the Von Miller move applies as such. Dhop would probably be seen as such a move. Obviously, big moves don't always equate to the coveted prize. Often, the bigger moves are short term boost while sacrificing the long term philosophy. I suppose that's why the the term all in" applies. I don't mind the Bills swinging for the fences. -
Bills signing OT Brandon Shell from miami

I like the move too. Nothing earth shattering but solid moves like this can go a long way. There's are the kind of moves that I think Beane is pretty good at. -
Have to disagree with respect. Of course some of the post was opinionated. However, it was backed up with facts. I stand by my post 100%. There is really no need to delve into the phrase "brutally honest." I think we all know the generally theme of the statement. You really seem to be intellectualizing the point to a flaw. Let me clarify. Often critical and or negative forwarding posts receive much flack. Perhaps even intimidation and mocking. I know I've experienced that myself. For example, recently a poster iterated that I say the same negative points over and over. Suggesting I get a hobby. Clearly, if my posts were overtly positive I would have never received such a comment. Likely, my post would be welcomed with open arms, thumbs up, and fist pumps. I've seen it over and over and over. Comments like you are dead to me when a poster predicts a negative Bills outcome. Your ad homimun comment certainly doesn't apply to my post. I am not trying to imply myself or anyone else is tough minded and or wimpy. Such a claim would be unprofessional and frankly horrible. Implying that I have done that is overtly disingenuous. Hopefully, that wasn't your sentiment. Hope that clarifies my post. I will continue to use the term with respect when applicable.
-
Intellectualizing is a great defense mechanism. Your post fits that to a T. Of course you want to play in January. However, you fail to take to next logical step. On all levels this post falls blatantly flat bordering on disingenuous and condescending.
-
What a post! I happen totally agree with you. I'm not sure any reasonable Bills fan can disagree with your post. The facts simply verify your points. Your post won't be popular but I'd rather hear the truth than blind optimism. Thanks for being brutally honest.

100% in agreement. Well said Gregg. Very nice post!

This is where I think your thinking is flawed. So many Bills fans are satisfied with great regular season records, AFC titles, and playoff appearances only to lose early. Of course it's better than the past decades of Bills failures. No one is denying that. However, I don't think it's unreasonable for Bills fans to expect and want more. Like a Super Bowl appearence and a Lombardi Trophy. You have arguably the top 3 QB in the league with some very nice weapons on both sides of the ball. Imho, it's a realistic that the Bills should be advancing further. Past decades of failure really shouldn't be used to justify or lower fans expectations and results of the current team. Sadly, I think too many Bills fans have this mindset.
-
It would be great if he started to really peak come playoff time.
-
I think the clear goal of the team is to make a Super Bowl appearence and win it all. It certainly is a realistic goal. Wouldn't you agree? I think the Bills players and organization absolutely believe they could win it all. They have fell short for several years. Wouldn't you agree? Now fast forward and I think its a time for Buffalo to step up and proceed further. Super Bowl appearence would be a step forward. Obviously, hoisting the Lombardi too. Has the team progressed to where good regular season records, AFC titles, and early playoffs exits is enough? Serious question here? How fair it that to the organization and players? The old saying "Super Bowl or bust" seems to apply this team. Perhaps unfair but is it? Is this the new reality of the team and it's fans expectations? At what point does the top brass evaluate the coaches and GM if they continue to fall short come playoff time? Will you or the ownership continue to be satisfied with the current status quo? I firmly believe McD deserves another season or more to get it done. I have my doubts he can. The last two playoff exits surely seem to suggest this. As a fan, I don't think I can get in McD corner if the team doesn't march further in the playoffs. Of course, variables such as injuries can alter that point of view.
-
Agree but at some point the team has to go further. The last few playoff appearances have been pretty disappointing. Wouldn't you agree?
-
It would be awesome if he can step in and be a solid contributor. I really didn't see that happening so fast.

$75 does seem a bit steep. Direct TVs pricing is really expensive because of the add on fees. Boxes, insurance, taxes, and hi def fee to name a few. The good thing is the convience and ease of using their system. Also, I was always able to get the NFL ticket free or $99 for years. With YouTube TV there is no negotiations that I know of. The price is the price. YouTube TV is pretty easy to get used too. I was a bit apprehensive. Saving some extra cash is never a bad thing.

Saying Beane is better than Polian is pretty bold. Polian has four straight super bowl appearances while Beane built teams have fallen short in multiple playoff games since his tenure. Simply put his teams weren't good enough. Now, if the Bills can win a Super Bowl then I think it's a different conversation. Gotta win one though.
