I'd take a corner if the board shaped up that way in the first. Really depends on who might slip down to 25. There are players in our first round BIG BOARD that I'd take over a corner. I agree that corner is a huge need, but at the same time, I think we should have addressed this need a bit more in FA. Do we really want to make a serious superbowl challenge with ANY rookie corner matching up against a seasoned vet, playoff-caliber WR? Corners need developing, even the best draftees.

Name 2 players drafted by the Buffalo Bills in 2022

PICK 1: Zaquandre White, RB - South Carolina: PICK 2: Connor Heyward, TE/FB/KR - Michigan State -
That's a good point, but add to that a consistently great (not just good) O-line, and there's two parts of the recipe. The Browns' O-line has been spotty at best. As for WR's, I think you have to have a minimum of ONE top WR in the category of "route runner". Plus you have to have a smart coach that calls the right plays... I guess what I'm saying is that a QB isn't ever the only factor.

Graphs aside, it's an interesting core question. We all hate Brady. Let's just get that out of the way... but we have to look at him in relation to this question. Undeniably, he's been one of the best QB's in this league with numerous MVP awards, well over 10 Probowls, 6 Superbowls, and 3 Superbowl MVP awards. So is Brady a product of his WR's or vice versa? Plus there's the O-LINE discussion that should be noted. Do O-LINE'S make a QB? If you don't want to talk about Brady, a similar discussion can be had about Montana, Peyton Manning, Favre, Elway, Marino, or Brees... But I thought that Bills fans would know their ENEMY the best, so Brady it is.... First off, Brady has arguably enjoyed one of the most consistently good O-lines in the league. He can stand in the pocket and get the ball out quick. His coaches always drew up a playbook that plays to his strengths. Getting the ball out quick, with a few well timed deep balls. I'd say Brady's O-line has MORE to do with his production over the years than his wide receivers, but here's a closer look at his "targets" over the past 3 years. Personally, I see these lists as "stable hands" with the top WR's as being great route runners, and not "big time, deep threat, stars". Randy Moss might have been that guy, but it's the exception to the Patriots rule IMO. Add to that one of the better TE's over the years with Gronk, and you've got an amazing "game managing, short game". Get the ball out quick, exploit mismatches, and outsmart defensive game planning. The bottom line for me, is that the GREAT QB's are not great on their own. They have: 1. Consistently SOLID O-lines., 2. Smart game planning/coaching., 3. Solid WR's with top notch route running skills, but they don't have to be superstar deep threats. IF BRADY WAS DRAFTED BY THE BROWNS, HE WOULD BE A NOBODY TODAY. 2019/20: 12-4, 1st AFC East, Lost Wildcard Playoffs 2018/19: 11-5, 1st AFC East, Won the Superbowl 2017/18: 13-3, 1st AFC East, Lost the Superbowl We can go further back, but that's too much work... They have made the playoffs every single year since Brady took over at QB, with NINE Superbowl appearances, and 5 wins.

Pete Prisco's top 100 players of the NFL. (CBS Sports)

Nice to have "some" recognition by the media. I think that our safety tandem could BOTH be on that list. Tremaine Edmunds could have gotten a "nod" of some sort. -
This thread has some interesting posts! We're talking STAT on DUI's and related charges! TRUE FOOTBALL JUNKIES right here! ?
-
He broke his foot in the playoffs so I'm hoping that foot doesn't give him problems this season. Foot breaks can cause some pain in the subsequent year. He's an AWESOME player, and I'm happy to see him as a Bill.
-
That would be good! I honestly feel this team can make.a major playoff push this year.
-
That's true. I can see that point, but having a beer between your knees while driving isn't as common (I hope?) Yeah that's what I meant. He's "toast" with the team for a number of games (minor suspension)
-
This team is fine with or without Oliver though. Jefferson is a GREAT starter if he can stay healthy. Hope that he CAN stay healthy!
-
Understood. So if the lab results from the alcohol blood test come back as NEGATIVE or within acceptable levels, I suppose the firearm charge gets tossed as well. But if the blood test comes back positive, Oliver is toast.
-
Okay thanks. I wasn't aware. Laws are different in different states, and in Ontario (where I'm from).

Is it considered virtue signalling really? This is a thread about a crime that was committed by a Bills player. So unless I'm trashing cops, and defending this guy, I'm virtue signalling? When did this happen? How is it possible that saying anything negative about a bills player, or even a CRIME now.... you get trashed here on these boards? It's impossible posting here sometimes. If you're not a total homer, you get slammed. If you call a crime a crime, you get slammed. Honestly... You say "you don't speak for everyone", yet your post claimed to be speaking for "most". I was basically saying that most people don't drink and drive these days. We've come a long way.
-
Okay thanks for clarifying. So if he wasn't drunk driving, it's okay for him to have a firearm in his car? I wasn't aware of that.
-
Are people here defending Oliver? I admit, I haven't read all the comments... but the article says the police were called on him. He was swerving outside of his lane, had an open beer on his lap, was clearly intoxicated enough to warrant a blood draw to determine the blood alcohol content (and when the lab results come in, numbers don't lie), plus he had an unregistered fire arm... smh if people think this is a police issue and not a "bad behavior issue". Anyways, from a TEAM standpoint, I think this issue "stings" but but we have some depth at DT. Um.... no....

What is the one spot on the roster that still has a hole?
Yantha replied to Buffalo03's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hey there. I think we are actually on the same page. I wanted to add an upgrade at RT (backup) in the draft, that could push to actually start (and upgrade starting RT). I thought the draft would ahve been a good way to upgrade RT. I agree. CONTINUITY is a big factor with O-line. Players need to build trust in one another and know how to switch off etc. However, if a guy isn't performing. They need a replacement. Our OL is not a glaring problem, but it can be improved. -

Yantha replied to Buffalo03's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No of course not. I would say that OG and OT depth is very weak. Spencer Long, and Ty Nsheke could use an upgrade IMO. I would have been happy if we picked OG and OT in the draft. A few youngsters that could push the starters. But the draft has to "fall" that way (and it didn't). There was only one round where I had an OG as my top pick and Beane went another way. That's okay. We will survive. lol. I've noticed that. But I really don''t blame Allen, honestly. Our starting WR's last year didn't exactly strike fear in opponents and if Allen is holding the ball, it's because he doesn't see anyone open. -

Yantha replied to Buffalo03's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
1. O-line 2. LB Depth 3. Safety Depth 4. CB could be tied with O-line if Josh Norman doesn't work out. Good to see that most of the "holes" are depth concerns. -
Do we have the Deepest D-Line in the league?
Yantha replied to Dkollidas's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Our starting lineup is very good, no doubt. I'm actually a little higher on Jefferson (if he can stay healthy) over Oliver but I'm sure I'm in the minority on this board. A 100% healthy Jefferson is one of the better DT's in the league if you look back at what he did in Seattle. I do still think we could add a replacement for Lotulelei, and Addison as both are average in my opinion. HOWEVER, saying that, as backups, that's not bad. Best in the league? Good moves by Beane this offseason for sure! Epenesa is going to be a difference-maker, and and Jefferson is excellent. If Oliver goes down, the DL won't miss a beat. I took some heat during the draft by stating that I think that a draftee could actually start on this team. I agree..... I overstepped while getting all wound up and excited about the draft. ME <------------ eating crow. REALLY what I was so worked up about was my MAJOR dislike for Lotulelei. I really wanted him gone this year, and replaced with a youngster with starting potential. I was even holding out AFTER the draft, and hoped that we would land UDFA Benito Jones, and/or Raekwon Williams, both of which I think WOULD make our roster at least on the practice squad. So yes, this is a great DL now that Beane made some changes over last year. We were average against the run and while that has to do with linebacker play as well, I just didn't see our guys eating up blocks and/or making their way into quarterbacks faces often enough. This year we will see an improvement. Can't wait!!! -

I think that Trey Adams OT from Washington might be a player to watch. Has a chance for Practice Squad I think. -

Not to be off topic here... but how many times were you frustrated with our DL breaking down and allowing too many rushing yards? Star Lotulelei needs an upgrade IMO, but you can't fix every hole.
