NFL.com posted an article of all 32 team needs, heading into the draft. Interestingly, they believe that the BILLS are the only team with a first round pick, in need of linebacker. Good odds for getting our pick of the litter. The other teams in need? Cleveland Browns Miami Dolphins The Browns do NOT have a pick in the second round either, but Miami picks at 51 with the Bills at 59. There is a "likelihood" that the Dolphins could swoop in and take a linebacker ahead of the Bills, and that would drive me insane.... lol.... So I think that it is NOT safe to just hope that "our guy" is available at 59. We have a few choices. 1. Stick and pick at 27, a bit of a so called reach with other quality, higher ranked players still on the board. 2. Trade down marginally to get our guy, but not too far that Miami could leap-frog us in the second round. I like the Seahawks at 37 who have that extra 2nd rounder from Denver. They may want to use that pick to move up to 27. Campbell at 37 sounds about right. 3. Pick OT in round 1 (or whatever BPA there is....) and then be AGGRESSIVE in round 2 to pick ahead of Miami, again to get our starting linebacker..... Just looking at team needs. https://www.nfl.com/news/2023-nfl-draft-first-round-order-top-three-needs-for-all-32-teams

Wish they would just sign Klein at lb
Yantha replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall
Klein could be brought back after the draft, if we need to fill out the roster. I don't see teams jumping up to grab him off the market. I agree, it would be good to have him back but only if we must... There's something to be said for continuity, familiarity/chemistry with teammates etc. -

I never understood the Bernard pick either, but I think that he's going to be a solid player. Starting material is yet to be determined, but at least a good backup. This is not a "bust" pick. -

Beane: "The answer at MLB is on our current roster". Translation: We are picking MLB in round 1. lol.... never believe GMs at this time of year. -

Time to move on I think. His contract is up, and there's no cap hit. There are better options, even on our current roster. - Terrel Bernard is easily better than Klein I'd say - And Dodson = Klein. Add a linebacker early in the draft and perhaps a post draft cast-off for depth, and we're good. -
The real q of the OP is spencer brown vs ?? At mlb. Not sure who that current starter is at mlb. to me the lb position drops off sharply after round two so if we don’t go lb in round 1, it’s risky and we may panic and trade up higher in rd two if the top 2 mlb are off the board. gotta go lb in rd 1 I think.

Had a thought and I'm not sure if it's been talked about yet. Wondering if McDermot will overcompensate with defensive draft picks in order to have a good showing as defensive playcaller.... Any history of his style out there and if he will want to bring in specific skillsets? Like, DIME, 3-4, etc?

Chaos, it's mock draft database. Free. Just considering a few things... Wondering who our NICKEL is next season? Who matches up on TE Kelce or other top end TE's.

I've been double dipping on linebacker recently too and think that this is your best mock so far. Well done!

Jordan Phillips back with Bills 1 year deal

Another piece! Great! -
If Hopkins not available, then what? We DO need another good WR!
Yantha replied to Deadstroke's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think that the only WR that the Bills might consider trading up for (but only maybe 5 positions or so.....), is Jordan Addison. I like his measurables, and fit to our needs. He could compete for the #2 spot without a doubt. Honestly, he's the #1 WR in my view..... -

Our newest safety "Rapp" might have some opinions about Allen Robinson II.... I'm sure they are asking him about the issue in LA.... -

I'd trade for Allen Robinson for our last pick of the draft..... -

Allen Robinson is getting cheaper by the day..... He was THE MAN in Chicago not long ago, and was BADLY misused in LA with bad play calling overcompensated to Kupp. Only went to Robinson when it was obvious.... I think Robinson could be a legit #2 on the roster. Give him a chance to prove it. Rams will eat some of the salary. WATCH THE VIDEO below to hear what NFL players think of Robinson. He was drafted by Arizona in the last draft… -

I have an answer. There is this great wide receiver from UCF. That might be what you’re looking for. -
Trade down to 33 and got an extra 73, 104 (turned into OC/OG Tippmann, and WR Tank Dell) Upgraded RT, landed Jack Campbell Added depth/competition at IOL. Added depth at safety, DT, RB, and even OT.

Must be Matakevich.

Hamlin: I've never seen Hamlin as the heir apparent to Poyer/Hyde, but was very happy with his development. I feel that Hamlin could continue to develop nicely but that was a very scary situation to say the least. I'm by no means writing him off, but if a quality safety is staring at us in the draft as BPA, it's hard to pass. I agree that WR is very costly, and agree that the draft is the best way to address it. I think this is a pretty good draft depth wise for WR talent and would be happy with a third rounder (ideally), but wouldn't pass on a 2nd rounder if they were the BPA as long as MLB was the first round selection. Great points on the contracts of current DT's. I hadn't thought of that. Personally I've been hoping for a NOSE tackle, like the big dude from texas. Blanking on his name right now....

I sort of build a different FA need vs. Draft need list. FA needs for me... fill basic roster needs where upgrades are needed as the first criteria. I prioritize DRAFT needs with the positional age (players who will be 30 years old+ in September) of the current roster (and whether they are starters or not). I also prioritize DRAFT needs where there are certain players lost via FA that have not been adequately replaced. This season: #1 need: MLB, since Tremaine Edmunds was not replaced via FA. Other needs (in no particular order: These are starters over the age of 30, and we need to address need via training the next generation starters. - Center (Morse is over 30, and has had concussion issues) - Safety (Hyde/Poyer are over 30). Rask eliminates ONE of these needs but we need to find another young option to train and I'm not sure we have the next man up on the roster currently. - Defensive Tackle (Jones is over 30). I still see this as a LOWER need since the positional group is fairly strong. A late round pick will suffice. - Tackle (Dawkins). I'd put OT as the NUMBER 2 need right now since we're also not all that thrilled with our RT starter. - Wide Receiver (Diggs is over 30). We addressed WR depth in the FA, and we will see just how much faith Beane has in Davis. The draft will tell all. So, now that the FA is shaking out, I'm happy to remove some draft needs and rank them as: 1. MLB 2. OT 3. Tie between S, WR, DT, OC The GREAT thing is that this year I'd say that all of our 30+ aged players are still playing at a fairly high level! EXTRA DRAFT NEEDS: 30+ aged backups..... (and I'm not even sure if all of these are even on the current roster....) QB Barkley DL Bryant OL Mancz DT Ankou DB Neal LB Matakevich - signed extension
-
Beck Water, yes I'd agree. I just think that Center is still a significant draft need and I was lumping OG and OC together.
-
I'd say that this is the first FA signing that affects our draft needs to a significant level. Nice move. I still have safety as a need for the draft, but definitely not so high.

Calais Campbell *update beane said no visit scheduled
Yantha replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall
What day is the visit? Personally I'm leaning towards signing Campbell and trading Oliver. It's an upgrade despite Campbell's age, and if we can get some draft capital from an Oliver trade (or a new starting RT for example.... ), I think it's worth it. Seems that Oliver isn't in the long term plans for the organization? Or is that just opinion...
