What Buffalo Bills draft choice surprised you the most on draft day?
Yantha replied to JohnNord's topic in The Stadium Wall
Zack Moss. You can go back and search.... The moment he was picked, I said WASTED PICK....... -
Ben vansumeren. Check my post above.

Reposting this here. It was buried in the Bernard thread but better here. Thanks for posting. For all the discussion about "the top 3", and a few mentioning Noah Sewell, there is another linebacker that has grabbed my attention from a pretty darn good football program. Ben VanSumeren, Michigan State. This is a player that has flown curiously under the radar, battled some injuries LAST year, and is really starting to peak (in my opinion at the right time). I see this guy as someone worthy of discussion and honestly, I think that he could come in and compete with Bernard and others on our current roster. He's 6'3, 240lbs and had a good showing for the scouts. 4.40 40 Benched 29X 42.5" vertical 10.11' Broad Jump Here's a nice article: https://www.si.com/college/michiganstate/football/michigan-state-spartans-football-nfl-draft-pro-day-ben-vansumeren-kendall-brooks-msu-032123 Here's an snippet: "VanSumeren’s performance at Michigan State’s Pro Day showed his strength, athleticism and speed for all NFL scouts to see. In the evolving professional game, linebackers need to be quick to cover space and be able to run with running backs and tight ends in pass coverage. Was VanSumeren’s Pro Day success enough to get him drafted? Maybe late in Day 3 (Rounds 4-7), as game film is still the biggest factor for NFL franchises. " Projected WIDELY from rounds 4-7 And he’s not a bad running back in Michigan before e transferred to State

Murray is a beast with lots left to give.
-
Linebackers: Henley and Dorian Williams. Both may not be a prototypical MLB, but we could use some good linebackers on the depth chart across the board. Safeties: Anthony Johnson, Battle, Jammie Robinson, Sydney Brown In my "painful" opinion, the safeties might be the best fits...... for this round..... and good value. Offensive Tackle: I'll PM you.... it's a secret.

9 picks away, and I have 7 on my list for round 3, but could reach for other OL/LB: 2LB 4 Safety 1 OT

Who are considered the "Can't Miss" prospects in the draft this year?
Yantha replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
Maybe not probowl material like the OP states, but "potential for instant impact" LB Jack Campbell DT Jalen Carter DT Calijah Kancey S Brian Branch OC John Michael Schmitz CB Devon Witherspoon TE Dalton Kincaid RB Bijan Robinson TE Michael Mayer OT Cody Mauch (if me shifts over to OG) RB Zach Charbonnet "later round"....... DE Karl Brooks (underrated) DT Kobie Turner DT Moro Ojomo OT Blake Freeland RB Tyaje Spears LB Ivan Pace Jr. (has potential to be a top special team gunner) That's all I got for can't miss... -
Draft Prospect Interviews with Bills - Post 'em here
Yantha replied to Yantha's topic in The Stadium Wall
Respectfully, I don't have the time to do a full NFL player breakdown. There aren't many players that are stud DT's that can do all those things. There are also very few QB's in the league that can do what Josh Allen can do, but that doesn't stop teams from trying to find a "Josh Allen" to add to their team. Why limit yourself and belittle the idea of finding so called "unicorns"? That just does not compute for me, sorry. I'm looking for unicorns at every single position. No limits. -

That's not the role of a bigger DT. It's to command double teams by guards and centers, freeing up a gap for pass rushers like Drew Sanders. The GOOD ones can also collapse the pocket, throwing some QB's off their game/timing. -
Can someone please post our Scouts/Beane visits
Yantha replied to Food_Pyramid_Wrong's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yep, there's a thread on this already called team visits "post em here". You can check it all out there. -
Just for kicks...... Round 1: DT Jalen Carter, maybe pick #8-10ish.... (trade away next year's 1st rounder OR Oliver + conditional pick next year) Round 2: OC Luke Wypler Round 3: OT Blake Freeland Round 4: MLB Noah Sewell Round 5: TE Jack Kuntz Round 6: WR Jake Bobo

I'm not sure I agree on that one, with respect. The league (and every sport really) is all about bigger, faster, stronger. On one way you might be right by adding "leaner". -
I didn't want to start ANOTHER linebacker thread, so I'm putting this here.... For all the discussion about "the top 3", and a few mentioning Noah Sewell, there is another linebacker that has grabbed my attention from a pretty darn good football program. He's my only trade up target, and would be happy with that. This mock has further made me understand that #27 sucks..... We'd either get a second fiddle to the top talent OR have to reach on an O-lineman or linebacker. I love JC, but not at 27. We really need to move out of 27, either up or down.
-
With this weaker class, sometimes I wonder if the Bills will just go for broke, and trade up for someone like Quentin Johnson, TCU.......if he slips within reach. The team doesn't have one big/physical target. Addison is too gadgety for my liking. Do you take a slot in round 1?
-
I'd say that with respect to Wypler vs. Benton (argument above), that our need for a starting OC = our need for a starting DT. And the grading on Wypler vs. Benton is in the same window of comparable prospects. I'd have been happier either way with OC or DT in this case but shifted to DT because of the contract situations, Oliver musings etc, plus the fact that a good number of interior O-linemen were added/extended this offseason. Can we do more at IOL? Yep, but again, flip a coin on Wypler vs. Benton.
-
Yeah I hear you. I say crappy as well because there are some highly questionable articles and mocks coming out of the organization, like the Bills trading up to 20 for a pass rusher. Some scouting reports are pretty solid. Agreed.
-
Just like the REAL NFL draft!
-
Don't forget the Scruggs (Juice) to wash it all down.
-
Yeah the title needs a question mark...... But in another article regarding the Bucs / Bills... They suggest that a trade for Mike Evans is part of that mix. FOR GABE DAVIS! https://www.sportskeeda.com/nfl/nfl-trade-rumors-josh-allen-s-buffalo-bills-tipped-land-tom-brady-s-former-teammate Would you trade Gabe Davis (and pick/s) for Mike Evans and Devin White?

TSW 1.0 Draft Poll - Who should the Bills select at #59
Yantha replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
This draft only has like 40 solid prospects if that…….. all the rest are projects. let’s go get the injured players who would have had higher grades. Like Vorhees in a higher than graded round. -
TSW 1.0 Draft Poll - Who should the Bills select at #59
Yantha replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
Never would I have thought that there would be a runaway consensus pick on a DT nobody was talking about on this board until a few days ago. This draft class is so unpredictable! -
TSW 1.0 Draft Poll - Who should the Bills select at #59

I've got a 2nd round grade on Henley. Tough call though.... Not really an MLB build. I also went with Benton. Can we trade Oliver for a starting OT or MLB straight up? lol...... -
Should not have taken Addison...... This second round is ripe with WR options, and very thin with LB or OT options..... Lesson learned for version 2.0 I hope? I'd have rather reached on Campbell, or taken a chance on Dawand Jones. Addison looking like a luxury pick at the moment, and imagine if Davis rebounds like I'm sure we can agree on that we hope he will. "KC Playoff Davis" was not a fluke.

Boooooooo to the last two picks......
