  1. That’s just nasty, IMHO. FWIW, Diggs has the same number of scored drops as Davis (on more targets, of course) and a number of “damn, can’t believe he didn’t get that one” catches. Just as you can make any player look marvelous if you put together a highlight film, you can make any player look terrible if you put together a lowlight film. You could also put together a highlight film of Davis and say if he drops a couple of those we have 5 losses. Look, Davis has had his struggles and he needs to “be the man he can be” and step up his game, but I hate this “let’s flog the whipping boy” approach.
  2. “Ya gotta carry out the fake at least all the way to the sideline, don’t you? Hobble a little bit or something.” Yeah, that was blatant.
  3. It’s the sort of thing the Pats love to do, that has too much “plausible deniability” for the refs to view it as a foul. “Oh, did I kick him in the head? I surely didn’t mean to, I was just getting up”. Like Mac Jones nut-shotting the opponent’s safety, right before the guy picked him, which served him right. (Hmmm, who was that….I was watching a Manningcast, and Peyton and Eli were commenting on it, so it must have been the Bears.)
  4. I didn’t notice extra fidgits, but he did seem a bit uncomfortable - I put it down to maybe he’s fighting a cold (because of the signs in his face) I know, I’m just trying to riff on it because of the “dog ate my donut” story. Losing your donut to the dog must be extra hard if you’re fighting the munchies.
  5. He’s sad because his dog stole the donut he took home on Friday and ate it! Actually he looks to me as though he’s fighting through a cold. There’s something about the face - kind of hollows under the eyes, a bit of puffiness leading out from the nose that creates lines underneath it, his mouth was open as though he can’t breathe well through his nose, and he overall looks tired.’ Maybe he and Beane were burning the midnight oil having roster discussions. I can not imagine that for McD! Although, if it were true, it would explain the extreme sadness about the dog eating the donut he took home. I bet Belicheck’s dog wouldn’t dare eat his donut.
  6. Bills didn't have too much trouble defensively with the Dolphins offense in September - 212 yds offensively, 15 1st downs - even with 4/5 of our starting secondary out for various reasons and missing Ed Oliver and Jordan Phillips. What do you see the Phins as having improved on offense since then? It was our offense that struggled to clinch the deal in the red zone, and to protect Allen as we started the day without Mitch Morse and our OLmen were dropping like flies. Since then I see us as having improved on offense by finding a better run game and a more patient passing game. My biggest worry is the Bills OL.
  7. No Cheetahs on the Jets?
  8. The contract voids when he's released. I don't *think* the Panthers have any salary guarantees to cover.
  9. Here's the thing I found on Gilliam: Gilliam is a regular on ST, taking 80-85% of the ST snaps. And the Bills are known to keep players on ST when they're too injured to play on O or D. So I think he got hurt. In other news, Hamlin not to be suspended for the Jakobi Meyers hit, but he could be fined (SO bogus):
  10. Preview of Jets at Bills (among others) Will come out in 4 hrs I would actually be happy to hear "Day to Day". I'm concerned for the dread high-ankle-sprain "week to week"
  11. OK more injuries to get updates on: In addition to Dawkins and Quessenberry, Jordan Phillips.
  12. Welllll....we have 5 games left. $5M, or $1M/game, is $18M over a 17 game, 1 bye season. Toss in a couple million of incentives and you're there.
  13. Not sure if the betting odds thread is desired as the game week thread, wasn't obvious to me Let's let Dion Dawkins start off the crazies Does anyone know when we hear from McDermott and the coordinators? Would normally hear Monday after a Sunday game. Stuff I wanna know: 1) Bills Injury report. I think Gilliam was reported to not be taking ST snaps (or any snaps) in the 2nd half of the NE game. Front and Center: what is the status of Dion Dawkins ANKLE? Have we all been holding prayer vigils/sending "Get Well" cards? How about Quessenberry? Even if Dion can go, unless he's healed up we're one bad snap away from....Bobby Hart? Who else are we worried about? 2) Jets Injury report. Quinnen Williams left the game at least briefly yesterday. Sometimes guys "play through" an injury that keeps them out when it stiffens up and swells. Anyone else? 3) Marquez Stevenson Watch. Has to be activated December 7 or placed on season-ending IR, I believe.
  14. Oh, now, that makes me happier. I hear they're staying on the West Coast all week this week, though, so they're not making back-to-back flights out there. And you're right, no sympathy here.
  15. Well *****. Not thrilled to play the Dolphins on a short week after playing the Jets big, physical defense. Gives us 2 of our last 5 games on short weeks.
  16. *blink* He didn't lock down the LT position for KC for 7 years because he was "not a great player" as an OT. The question is, the Colts moved on from him after last season when he was playing hampered coming back from a torn Achilles and he was a bit inconsistent. Has he been able to further come back, or are they signing the "Ghost of Eric Fisher"? In which case he might not be dependable. When did Eric Fisher ever block for Matt Ryan?

  18. And flipping this slightly - Beane "talks the talk" about needing to get strong contributions out of "cheap labor" meaning drafted players and lower-tier FA. IMHO he has under-invested in quality draft picks on offense. My concern would be, if he goes for another higher-priced vet like OBJ on a long-term deal, added to Diggs, we'll be over-invested in aging vets, and it might keep Beane from making the investment I feel we need in the trenches and at WR. He'd probably draft a safety or an LB in the 1st round instead. Any concerns about Poyer breaking down and fighting injuries to stay on the field, should apply double or triple to OBJ.
  19. Tre Edmunds is also playing out his 5th year option.... A player never likes to be playing in the final year of his deal. He's a popular whipping boy here, but IMO the Bills defense is much stronger when both Milano and Edmunds are playing, and Edmunds has been battling injuries to stay out there. Jordan Phillips also on a 1 yr deal. You may be correct, but IMHO when you have guys who are battling through ankle injuries, concussions, etc to get and stay on the field like Davis, Kumerow, McKenzie; Crowder said to be fighting to come back this season from a broken leg, Stevenson from a broken foot - I think everybody wants that Superbowl trophy and would be "all in" with adding a true receiving talent who could play in a couple weeks, make the remaining games Ws, earn us home field, and help us hoist a Lombardi. But if, instead, we're adding a guy who takes up a roster spot and $$ but can't play yet; who draws a lot of media attention; and who puts the team through the Tre White "will he play this week or won't he?" wringer - AND who impacts the chances of a long term deal for players who are out there playing their asses off - I dunno, I'm not sure it sounds like great "locker room chemistry".
  20. Miami https://www.latrailabbq.com/ Think he only has one
  21. "It's a boy!!!!" was for his sister. https://nypost.com/2022/09/09/bills-isaiah-mckenzie-does-gender-reveal-for-sister-in-rams-win/ https://www.nbcsports.com/boston/patriots/isaiah-mckenzie-announces-sisters-gender-reveal-after-touchdown Now, if you see him dropping off and picking up his GF from the airport and she looks preggers, maybe there's a second baby in the picture, but the gender reveal was 100% for his sis. But I'd follow the wise advice of a former co-worker: "never ask a woman if she's pregnant". A guy I worked with didn't follow this advice with another coworker (who already had 3 kids), and the result was.....mmmm, NOT pretty.
  22. From something Diggs indicated in a presser, I think it's a cold/respiratory virus. Deep surface decontam probably not too helpful for that, and 2-3x/day disinfection of the touch surfaces (doorknobs, light switches, weight equipment, training stuff) should be happening routinely. If it were a Norovirus (avert!) then yeah.
  23. ? I don't think his GF is pregnant, and she's apparently living with him in B'lo - they've shown her in the "Mister's" podcasts with Ty Dunne. The "gender reveal" was for his "sister"
  24. I'm sure he did come back too early from the ankle, but it had nothing to do with losing Crowder and McKenzie. They were both available when he came back, as was Kumerow. Davis came back for 96% of the snaps in Game 3, vs Miami, and played 98% of the snaps in Game 4. It was in Game 4 (with Gabe Davis already playing) that Crowder broke his leg and McKenzie went out with a concussion. Davis had a "breakout game" in game 5 vs Pitts, for 3 catches and 171 yds (also 1 INT while targeting him). He had a good game, 3 catches for 74 yds, against KC the next week. His timeline doesn't fit your theory, nor has he been on injury report since Week 5, when he was "FP" all week with no game status. A lot of players come up limping after plays. Poyer was gimping after one play vs. NE. I'm sure a lot of players are playing hampered, where they've gone off the injury report but they're still being bothered by and getting treatment for an injury. This is now the 2nd year where Davis has injured his ankle early in the season, gone on and come off the injury report, but is said to be affected by the injury for weeks afterwards. That may be true, but if he's going to injure the same ankle and be hampered to the point where he can't run crisp routes or hang on to contested catches for 2/3 of the season, two seasons in a row, he may not be a reliable WR #2 for a contending team. I love the guy so I hate to say that, but it's true. I'm not in favor of the TBD fashion for scapegoating a player and for whipping boys. I'm also not in favor of excuse making for players - especially as you do above here, where you re-write the timeline to suit your idea. Here's the thing: we watch other contenting (and even non-contending) teams where multiple WR bring in the contested catches. Yes, it's unreal athleticism, but sometimes in a crunch, it can swing a close game. We need more than 1 guy who can haul in a contested catch reliably. Neither of us see how they're practicing that, but Josh has had several interceptions targeting Davis where Davis had separation, but after Josh threw, the DB gained position on him and jumped the route. So I think that's where Josh has to throw it so it's "Gabe's ball or no one's ball", and it's "on" Davis to get where the ball has to be placed to avoid the pick. And yes, it's an expectation of a quality NFL WR to run quality routes and not round them off. It's not as though only the top 5 or 10 WR in the league can run crisp routes. It may well be that Davis still can't cut sharply because of his ankle - see above then. Yes, his TD catch was great. Great "mind meld" with Josh.
