Seriously, I think Diggs thought, "ascending team, #7 passing offense in the league last year, hot young QB who can help me put up Big Numbers while I help him elevate his passing game just like I did when I came to Buffalo and John Brown was the 1000+ yd guy with Beasley as the #2". I don't think a guy like Diggs ever thinks "I'm on the downhill slide, Nico Collins is the Big Dawg there, Dell is the #2, I'll be fighting for my target share" I think this is revisionist, TBH. In 2020 and 2021, Diggs was plenty scary. He was never the big outside guy, but he was that "climb the ladder, one handed catch, he can be doubled and he'll still make the catch" guy and he drew attention accordingly. But he started to fall off in 2022, especially in the back half of the season.

I think that was Greg Cosell, Senior Producer at NFL Films. He's been watching film and analyzing it since it was actually film, on a reel, and is highly respected around the league. It's been said that coaches send him film of QB and QB prospects and ask for his POV. It's not to say that he's never wrong (he has been), but he's neither full of ***** nor produces half assed content.

I think we need to make the point that in 2019, Mahomes was not "running the show". He was the QB. And Mahomes was drafted in 2017, not 2018. And in 2018 (Mahomes first year playing) the Chiefs lost in the Division round. Also you said "failed at every Superbowl opportunity", Reid had one (1) previous superbowl opportunity in 19 years before Mahomes. I'm gonna ignore the rest of your post because why go there, but the part I left makes a very valid point: the very year before Mahomes started, in 2017, Reid and the Chiefs had a very successful NFL offense. #1 in rush Y/A, #6 in NY/A passing, #2 in INT. And the Chiefs lost in the WC round , and Tony Dungy (who might know a thing about coaching football) said on national TV that "the chiefs might win a Superbowl, but not with Andy Reid as their coach". That's how Reid was seen - as a successful regular season coach that couldn't get his teams "over the hump" in the off-season. Until he could. And Mahomes has undoubtedly been the difference maker. I can't find it now, but in one interview Beane talked about research they did before drafting a QB in 2018, about how QBs are handled and developed in the league. He said one of their conclusions was that far more QB with potential are ruined than are developed in the league, and as I recall he went into some detail about the reasons (I don't remember them all, but it included changes in OC or offensive system especially multiple changes in the first 3 years and so forth) It interested me at the time because the Bills did a number of things that Beane alluded to as poor developoment (poor WR corps and OL Josh's first year, lack of run game to support the passing game, lack of a veteran the rookie could sit behind to learn). But they also did a number of things right (keep the same OC and offensive system, support the QB and not have a QB controversy, etc).

I think we need to step away from the "underwear Olympics" and remember that playing time is not the same as 40 time. Josh Allen ran what, 4.76? Explain that he's really slow to all the defenders he evades on the field. It would be nice. But Bishop is (IMO) significantly behind the learning curve right now. So we'll see.

Don't overlook that Taylor Rapp was out for 3/4 of the game as well. We saw that in 2022 with Hamlin - he was servicable when paired with Poyer, but when he was paired with Jaquan Johnson the quality of safety play plummeted Not that I'm saying Cole Bishop is Jaquan Johnson, but he's a rookie and still figuring things out. Put two safeties who are figuring things out together with a backup nickel and two backup LB and things get fugly fast.
