  1. Yep. Not just Cole though (especially last season and 10-20 yds deep) but Manny Sands. And this year, it's not just the slot guy, it's Gabe Davis (Sanders replacement). It's a place where when Josh puts it there, the ball has a tendency to end the play, not in the receiver's hands.
  2. He can. But whether because of play design, lack of open receivers, lack of trust, or lack of passing lanes/time in the pocket, he doesn't seem to be getting the ball to the middle of the field very much nor completing when he does get there. Pretty stark contrast, wouldn't you say?
  3. This is an interesting question. In their piece about the Vikings, Cover1 made the point that of late there have been deep routes and short routes and not a lot of anything in between. Given Dawkins is likely out (or compromised if he's in) part of me would like to see us try the offense we unrolled against the Browns, with heavy sets and 2 RBs at times and just smashing it. Both Brown and Quessenberry are better run blockers than pass blockers. Here are passing charts for the last 3 games. If you are Belicheck, what do you hone in on to defend? What part of the field do you say "no worries"?
  4. This isn't a matter of ***** chemistry. This is a matter of getting it through your thick rookie RB head that you Can Not Lie to your QB that late in the play. As Beasley once said, after I give Josh body language about how I'm going to run it, I need to run it that way even if I see something else during the play.
  5. The Ravens were 7-5 with Lamar vs 1-4 without him last year. Maybe we should ask "what does competitive mean to you?" As a free agent, in a league where dual threat QB like Hurts are mopping up and Nathan Peterman is still being activated on gameday, I think the market for Lamar as a FA would be huge, but I don't think it's gonna happen. The Ravens will franchise him if need be. Wilson is crapping the bed in Denver for the same reason he crapped the bed in Seattle: 1) he got a swelled head and became uncoachable. "Let Russ Cook" "I'm the best QB in the league". He decided he no longer needed to play within the offense and follow the design of a play, he knew better. 2) a lot of Wilson's success was built on mobility and the ability to create outside of structure and that seems to be gone In addition: 3) he's playing hurt. People expect QB to be bionic if they're out there, but if the football is a fraction off at the QB's shoulder, it's gonna be a couple of feet off at the target and that's the difference between completions, drops, or picks. 4) Wilson doesn't seem to have won the hearts of the receiving corps there in Denver and they're making 'career decisions' instead of climbing the ladder or laying out So far, Lamar seems willing to follow the design of his offense and is still in his prime for mobility. Big difference between 34 and 26 there. He's also by all accounts a supremely likeable guy his teammates go hard for.
  6. No relevance to whom? Maybe the women of GB have opinions about using a synonym for ***** as a way to denigrate or insult someone. Maybe they don't make a fuss because they need to "go along to get along" and Pick their Battles, doesn't make it right.
  7. Harbaugh says he addressed the tweet with Lamar. Said that he begs his players to all stay off of social media in the hours after a game, especially after a loss.
  8. You're apparently succeeding at selling me your horse. I hope it's well preserved.
  9. OK, now I will say: that is Exhibit A of the case for "Hines should get some of Cook's snaps"
  10. To be fair, AJ Klein was out there calling the defense, and the first week was severely abnormal first with illness then with practice cancelled for snow. The Bills can stick Brown out there on a couple of plays and tell him "run this route" and use him to clear.
  11. And Dawkins. No Dawkins for a 2nd straight practice (Sun and Mon) is No Bueno.
  12. Oh, sorry, I missed that. I don't think it was hiding the injury, so much as I imagine it's a matter of degree. Allen is probably sore and hurting in various joints after every game. Imagine his arm after throwing 63 times vs. Miami in that heat! And remember Carson said his sprain didn't hurt, like at all!!!! and it wasn't every ball. Allen probably had 3-4 bruises in different areas that hurt worse. So in my completely circumstantial theory, Allen would probably attribute problems with sending the ball where he wanted, consistently, in the 2nd half of the Packers game to improper technique maybe after getting hit hard a few times, and resolve to refocus on technique. I don't think he was hiding anything. Then in the Jets game, I think the injury may have zinged a nerve (not to mention showing up on national TV), which would alert the Bills medical Brain Trust to shove the Golden Arm into the Tappy Tube and devise a treatment and recovery plan for it.
  13. Gentry would have to be signed to the 53, correct. We could also see Stevenson activated if the Bills feel he's ready. It's gonna be a challenge for the Bills who to drop from the roster, though, and remember all cut players now go through waivers, veteran or no.
  14. Er...we do know that players don't appear on the injury report, unless they can't go, or they seek diagnosis and specific treatment for an injury and it limits them in practice? Josh Allen said something to the effect of, at this time of year, everyone is pretty much playing through injury and if they tell you they aren't, they're probably lying." Allen probably gets some form of training room treatment after every game for a bruise or for soreness in his legs, shoulder, and throwing arm. And players aren't healed when they disappear off the injury report, they're just healed enough to practice and play and are still getting treatment. And players don't like to publicize injuries. Football is not a nice sport. If a guy is known to have an injury, the other team will target it, You Betcha. --------------- I thought it was interesting to hear Carson Palmer talk about his own UCL, which sounds more severe https://www.the33rdteam.com/category/analysis/carson-palmer-talks-josh-allens-ucl-injury-reflects-on-own-experience/ He said it didn't hurt, he finished the game, it wasn't something he reported or sought treatment for. But in practice next week, he had balls just not go where he wanted - they would die and hit the dirt. And not every ball - maybe 2 or 3 good balls then a dirter. After watching that, the docs did a scan and found a serious tear that shut him down. Anyway give it a listen. -------------- It was notable to me that in the 2nd half of the GB game, the ball stopped obeying Allen's commands as usual. Allen was 8/11 with 2 TD in the first half. He was 5/14 with 0 TD and 2 INT in the 2nd half. And of course, in the Jets game. Allen was "off" before the injury, 18 of 34. And it wasn't just fantastic pass defense, either. Balls were overthrown, or hitting the ground in front of receivers, or thrown behind the receiver. Clearly, that's not all that's going on, there is clearly bad judgement or not reading coverage the same way as the receiver etc., perhaps poor play design that doesn't scheme guys open, But a previous time we saw a sudden plunge in Allen's completion percentage was in 2020 when Allen injured his shoulder during the Raiders game, so it had me going "hmmmm".
  15. I think Hamlin is pretty good in coverage, actually. Are you thinking perhaps of Jaquan Johnson, who is a decent run defender but gets toasted? FWIW, Cover1 did a piece on Hamlin. They talk first about his run defense and start talking about coverage about 6:40 in re Taron Johnson, I think missing Edmunds missing the last 2 1/2 games impacts that quite a lot. Wish I could find it, but there was a piece with Frazier where he was talking about how the Bills use Milano, Edmunds, and Johnson both against the run and in pass coverage. It was in the context of Milano going on IR in 2020 and needing to re-work defensive responsibilities to make Klein a positive contributor.
  16. By the way, I didn't realize this but FYI Stevenson was "designated for return" from IR on Nov 17th. His bad luck that he was given a window with minimal practices due to snow, illness, and a short week, but the Bills have until Dec 7th to either place him on the 53 man roster or send him to season-ending IR.
  17. I guess I see Diggs, Davis, and McKenzie as the starters on offense. Kumerow mostly affects ST and has been out 2 weeks already, and Crowder has been on IR for 8 weeks now. It sounds very dramatic the way you phrased it, but I thought you were introducing some new and bad news. 4 of the 8 guys out with illness were back at practice today, with Damar Hamlin a new add, so hopefully Shakir comes back and we don't add anyone else. But yeah, we're thin (and the Browns game was Gentry's 2nd call up, the Lions game was the 3rd), I'm sure that's why we added Brown. It's kind of bad luck/bad management we lost Hodgins. Yeah, I read it the same way and freaked out
  18. musta found it in the parking lot at a Cheesecake Factory.....
  19. I see your point, and certainly why one would spend literally hundreds if not thousands of dollars to attend one's teams game but not cheer for them full-throatedly, I have no idea. Even less idea why someone would show up at 4 am to dunk on the team. That's definite "get a life - rent one if you can't buy!" territory.
  20. Dawkins left Thurs game in a boot and may be out due to injury Damar Hamlin would be a new add, and a big one.
  21. From Sal Cappacio. On the sideline past Allen, you can see Davis, Diggs, and McKenzie practicing. Shakir is still out with illness. to the OP you're killing me Smalls
  22. All the things you cite, but I think the elbow is the overarching problem connecting them. To whit, I think Allen can get away with making a couple poor mental decisions per game when he makes enough superb throws to overcome them. I think Allen can overcome "solved" play calling which isn't scheming guys open (or WR who aren't getting open) when he can whip the ball into a small open window reliably. With the elbow injury and Allen not able to make enough great throws to overwhelm the brain farts and create completions out of tight windows, the mental mistakes, play calling, and supporting cast faux pas all loom larger. Is there a link to a letter to CBS about Romo somewhere online?
