  1. Well *****. Not thrilled to play the Dolphins on a short week after playing the Jets big, physical defense. Gives us 2 of our last 5 games on short weeks.
  2. *blink* He didn't lock down the LT position for KC for 7 years because he was "not a great player" as an OT. The question is, the Colts moved on from him after last season when he was playing hampered coming back from a torn Achilles and he was a bit inconsistent. Has he been able to further come back, or are they signing the "Ghost of Eric Fisher"? In which case he might not be dependable. When did Eric Fisher ever block for Matt Ryan?

  4. And flipping this slightly - Beane "talks the talk" about needing to get strong contributions out of "cheap labor" meaning drafted players and lower-tier FA. IMHO he has under-invested in quality draft picks on offense. My concern would be, if he goes for another higher-priced vet like OBJ on a long-term deal, added to Diggs, we'll be over-invested in aging vets, and it might keep Beane from making the investment I feel we need in the trenches and at WR. He'd probably draft a safety or an LB in the 1st round instead. Any concerns about Poyer breaking down and fighting injuries to stay on the field, should apply double or triple to OBJ.
  5. Tre Edmunds is also playing out his 5th year option.... A player never likes to be playing in the final year of his deal. He's a popular whipping boy here, but IMO the Bills defense is much stronger when both Milano and Edmunds are playing, and Edmunds has been battling injuries to stay out there. Jordan Phillips also on a 1 yr deal. You may be correct, but IMHO when you have guys who are battling through ankle injuries, concussions, etc to get and stay on the field like Davis, Kumerow, McKenzie; Crowder said to be fighting to come back this season from a broken leg, Stevenson from a broken foot - I think everybody wants that Superbowl trophy and would be "all in" with adding a true receiving talent who could play in a couple weeks, make the remaining games Ws, earn us home field, and help us hoist a Lombardi. But if, instead, we're adding a guy who takes up a roster spot and $$ but can't play yet; who draws a lot of media attention; and who puts the team through the Tre White "will he play this week or won't he?" wringer - AND who impacts the chances of a long term deal for players who are out there playing their asses off - I dunno, I'm not sure it sounds like great "locker room chemistry".
  6. Miami https://www.latrailabbq.com/ Think he only has one
  7. "It's a boy!!!!" was for his sister. https://nypost.com/2022/09/09/bills-isaiah-mckenzie-does-gender-reveal-for-sister-in-rams-win/ https://www.nbcsports.com/boston/patriots/isaiah-mckenzie-announces-sisters-gender-reveal-after-touchdown Now, if you see him dropping off and picking up his GF from the airport and she looks preggers, maybe there's a second baby in the picture, but the gender reveal was 100% for his sis. But I'd follow the wise advice of a former co-worker: "never ask a woman if she's pregnant". A guy I worked with didn't follow this advice with another coworker (who already had 3 kids), and the result was.....mmmm, NOT pretty.
  8. From something Diggs indicated in a presser, I think it's a cold/respiratory virus. Deep surface decontam probably not too helpful for that, and 2-3x/day disinfection of the touch surfaces (doorknobs, light switches, weight equipment, training stuff) should be happening routinely. If it were a Norovirus (avert!) then yeah.
  9. ? I don't think his GF is pregnant, and she's apparently living with him in B'lo - they've shown her in the "Mister's" podcasts with Ty Dunne. The "gender reveal" was for his "sister"
  10. I'm sure he did come back too early from the ankle, but it had nothing to do with losing Crowder and McKenzie. They were both available when he came back, as was Kumerow. Davis came back for 96% of the snaps in Game 3, vs Miami, and played 98% of the snaps in Game 4. It was in Game 4 (with Gabe Davis already playing) that Crowder broke his leg and McKenzie went out with a concussion. Davis had a "breakout game" in game 5 vs Pitts, for 3 catches and 171 yds (also 1 INT while targeting him). He had a good game, 3 catches for 74 yds, against KC the next week. His timeline doesn't fit your theory, nor has he been on injury report since Week 5, when he was "FP" all week with no game status. A lot of players come up limping after plays. Poyer was gimping after one play vs. NE. I'm sure a lot of players are playing hampered, where they've gone off the injury report but they're still being bothered by and getting treatment for an injury. This is now the 2nd year where Davis has injured his ankle early in the season, gone on and come off the injury report, but is said to be affected by the injury for weeks afterwards. That may be true, but if he's going to injure the same ankle and be hampered to the point where he can't run crisp routes or hang on to contested catches for 2/3 of the season, two seasons in a row, he may not be a reliable WR #2 for a contending team. I love the guy so I hate to say that, but it's true. I'm not in favor of the TBD fashion for scapegoating a player and for whipping boys. I'm also not in favor of excuse making for players - especially as you do above here, where you re-write the timeline to suit your idea. Here's the thing: we watch other contenting (and even non-contending) teams where multiple WR bring in the contested catches. Yes, it's unreal athleticism, but sometimes in a crunch, it can swing a close game. We need more than 1 guy who can haul in a contested catch reliably. Neither of us see how they're practicing that, but Josh has had several interceptions targeting Davis where Davis had separation, but after Josh threw, the DB gained position on him and jumped the route. So I think that's where Josh has to throw it so it's "Gabe's ball or no one's ball", and it's "on" Davis to get where the ball has to be placed to avoid the pick. And yes, it's an expectation of a quality NFL WR to run quality routes and not round them off. It's not as though only the top 5 or 10 WR in the league can run crisp routes. It may well be that Davis still can't cut sharply because of his ankle - see above then. Yes, his TD catch was great. Great "mind meld" with Josh.
  11. I'm unsure what the limit is, but a couple years back a limit on both time and # of posts was installed
  12. So I think the Buffalo News reporters are still held closer to the AP standard for sources and verification than the Athletic guys or the "NFL insiders". If a TBN guy says "multiple sources" say he's not working out for the teams he's visiting, it may be true. I mean, perhaps, but whether he planned to work out for teams could, in theory, be unknown until after he had visited the Giants and then the Bills and reporters found sources to ask "did he work out for your team?" who said "no". I guess the idea would be, we acquire a great WR for next year. But for the Bills, I think signing a contract with a guy who can't for-real and for-sure contribute not only this season, but very soon, would be a huge risk to the mental cohesion of the locker room. It could be sending a message to home-grown talent like Edmunds and Oliver that the Bills talk the talk about draft, develop, re-sign but they might not be walking the walk for you. It would send a message to the guys who've been busting their humps to help the Bills to 8-3, "you're a Domestique to us. Throw everything you've got in to every game, play your heart out, then maybe we'll shelve you for the Dance". I fall into the camp who believes that the Bills are, in fact, thin in talent at receiver. But color me skeptical about the risk/reward of bringing in OBJ if he can't play right now.
  13. Panthers save $1.35M in cap by this move, not that I'm sure cap space matters to them. Mayfield is a FA next season, though if they kept him on the roster through the end of the season and he signs elsewhere (almost certain to happen) they could theoretically get a comp pick Locker room move? It's bizarre to think that with a record of 4-8 after a win over Denver a week ago, the Panthers are potentially one W out of the NFC S division title (depending upon the results of Tampa Bay-NO tonight). Tampa Bay then plays the 49ers, the Bengals, and the Cardinals, while the Panthers have Seattle, the Steelers, and the Lions. In theory, the Jan 1 meeting between the Bucs and the Panthers could have playoff implications!
  14. I must agree, I thought Wilson would be their Matt Stafford. Part of their problem is that Nathaniel Hackett is no Sean McVay I don't say that just in terms of X's and O's on offense which I believe are workable with the right personnel. I mean in terms of being a Leader of Men and holding guys (including Wilson) accountable
  15. Anyone know? I woulda thought that 3 days off would be about enough to get some PT/heal up a bit, get a massage and start to feel better, maybe have a "date night" with your partner and do something special with your kids, but not to fly out of town and fly back, especially commercial. OTOH, for players with family out of town, especially elders, it's a chance to catch up on the missed Thanksgiving visits.
  16. Since it's a Slow Bills Discussion Week lol Of course, they're highly sanitized and we get a lot of "Don't Blink!" and "LetsGoooooo" and "Good *****" But one of the things that surprises me is how talkative guys are. In coverage, not this most recent segment but a previous segment, Poyer is yapping constantly at the guy he's covering - not trash talk, just "I'm here. I'm right here. I'm still here. I'm right on your ass." There's clearly a mind-game saying to the receiver "you didn't shake me, if you're targeted expect to get nailed" Uses the guy's number so he doesn't mistake Po for trash-talking someone else. Then how talkative the offensive players are in defense of one another. Again, not trash talk, but Davis running full speed up to Diggs who was just tackled in the midst of a cloud of defenders saying as he arrives "Hey! Hey hey hey hey hey I'm here, I'm right here, I'm here" then "I gotcha" to Diggs. Again, a mind game saying to the DBs "if you want to start something with my man I'm right here to finish it" Wonder what the language would be if they weren't miked up LOL
  17. "We caught him running one time, and he lowered his shoulder pads, and I say "oh, it's the QB, you think you want to lower your pads, like Get Going!" BAM! I woke up, you see them little blinks, you're like hey wait a minute now" Von Miller said it before the rest of the league, "he's got a stiff arm like Deion Sanders and you better have a plan when you go to tackle him". The reporters were all like "you're kidding" and Von was "No, I'm serious!"
  18. TBH, I think the Dolphins offense is kind of built on the same model: Put top-notch talent around the QB, and have a QB who can do just enough with it to win. If the guy can make the reads and distribute the ball, he can win. Bill Belicheck seems to be trying for the same model with Mac Jones, only it works better when you have an actual NFL level OC and offensive coaching talent driving the bus, plus, IMHO Jones needs an Attitude Adjustment
  19. I think it's called "going to the Well once too often". Elway brought in Manning on a RentATitle move, and he's been trying to reprise ever since. Keenum? Miracle in Minneapolis, he can play now, bring him in! Flacco? He won a SB on a perennially competitive Ravens team, Bring Him In! Wilson? Best QB in the league, he told us so himself, buy him that professional range to Let Russ Cook! At some point, a team has to draft and develop talent
  20. to @PatsFanNH , don't know how long you've been around but when the Pats were the Beasts in the East behind Brady and we were perennially looking up to them, the Pats getting unfair numbers of comp picks (or being awarded a comp pick for other teams miscues) was a running gag here.
  21. Welp, This Aged Well (Edit: not that I didn't agree with you when you posted it)
  22. Only a few tid-bits https://buffalonews.com/sports/bills/odell-beckham-jr-to-von-miller-on-trip-to-bills-it-was-a-good-visit/article_8541d2b2-7405-11ed-9d38-9bf9224f2ceb.html but then there's this Opinion piece from TBN new reporter Ryan O'Halloran: We all see Tre White, he's only just now getting back into it. There's real question about how much and when Beckham will be able to contribute, if he's not working out while on these visits. There's no question the Beckham the Rams had for their playoff push would be a huge add. A Beckham not up to full go, who has to be kept on the roster and worked into the offense while Beane juggles personnel at other positions on and off the PS, could be a distraction. O'Halloran ends with this: Really? Which is it? The Bills NEED Beckham as the final piece of the Superbowl puzzle, OR they have the goods without him? Because I don't think both can be true.
  23. To quote McD, nothing is given, everything is earned. But that goes for the Chiefs too. Raiders play them tough, 1 point loss. Seahawks can be a good team.
  24. On the one hand, I do feel that Greg Cosell had a point that the Bills don’t have a huge amount of talent on offense, and maybe we need a star to push us over the top. I feel like when the Bills win a Superbowl none of us will really care who the national press spotlights. The Lombardi cures all. On the other hand, I sort of feel as though while it’s true the Bills have Diggs, and no one else as their stars, we’re kind of parallel to the Bills defense in that without big stars, we kind of formed a whole that was greater than the sum of its parts. And now we do have a star in Diggs. And hired guns are always risky. They can shake things up in a positive way, or in a negative way. The only thing would be fully negative is if the Bills sign someone and do Tre White Part Deux where a guy is on the roster taking up a slot but not ready to play..
