  1. Yeah, first play broken down in Cover1 Disguised Coverage, make a big deal out of how Dolphins motion forces us to adjust and we left a gap leading to a 13 yd run but even they eventually comment “that has to be some kind of miscommunication” which left 2 DBs snuggled up on the R side of the field. Plus a missed tackle.
  2. Right. The saying is it’s hard to beat a team twice in the same season and harder still to beat them 3x in the same season. You learn their tendencies, the small tells, in a way just film study won’t always give you. The Dolphins have a very inventive DC and sound OC. They’ve got some good players on D. They played us hard both games and had some success. But I don’t feel they beat us, or came close to beating us, in either game. Even with the heat and the injuries, we beat ourselves - with a fumble on the Buffalo 6 yd line in the first game leading to a TD and a missed FG; with a strip-sack fumble and the World’s Dumbest RTK Penalty in the 2nd game. There were other miscues but those stand out. I don’t think the team is taking them lightly at all. But “they deserved to win” is silliness.
  3. TBH, I’m kind of with the guy who asked “why do we need to dress 6 LB?” I’d rather see us dress 6 WR If McKenzie can’t go, call up John Brown and make him active. If he can go, snip someone off the LB list I don’t see it happening, but given how little we play base defense….. The thing is, on that John Brown TD, Allen commented that the safety went to McKenzie leaving Brown open. IIRC Gabe and McKenzie were running deep crossers and the safety went with McKenzie there too. Bills fans think little of him but having two fast guys makes a difference, especially when TDs have been caught in previous games. It’s harder on a defense to shut things down.
  4. Indeed. If the quality metric for a game is whether a team is winning at halftime, then the Ravens dominated us (news flash: they lost), and we dominated the Vikings (news flash: we lost)
  5. Which of those strict rules and regulations force the HC to declare a player, including a QB, “out” on Wednesday before a game?
  6. Cover1 Disguised Coverage with Anthony Prohaska and Kendall Morris Film breakdown starts about 31:50 in if you want to go right for the heart of it Prior to getting into the film, they talk generally about some of the stuff Miami did on defense - that in general, Miami is a team that likes to blitz a lot and use Cover0, but that they mixed it up a lot , would show Cover0 and drop into Cover3 etc etc - that they really made Josh work mentally, and that the Bills need to have good quick answers for pressure
  7. He’s listed as limited participation yesterday and today. Media said he didn’t throw while they were watching but that could easily be a smokescreen. https://www.buffalobills.com/team/injury-report/ I could be wrong, but I think they played a lot of zone against us in both previous games this season. At least in the first game, they were also pretty creative about disguising their coverage
  8. I agree of course, the question (to me) is why do this today, vs waiting until Saturday 4 pm (I believe that’s the deadline)
  9. But the thing you are quoting said “on the 53 man roster”. PS callups are part of a gameday 55 man roster Well, I think the Bills are a class organization so hopefully they’ll work that out
  10. Interesting, though that would appear to omit John Brown then Which would kinda suck for him But one step at a time, we gotta get there first I think you can bank on it, if McKenzie is out. The previous game he was out Shakir got 70% We may see more Beasley but I don’t think it will be his previous 60-70% of the snaps from 2021
  11. Dude, if you’re gonna respond to me, could you please take the time to read what I’ve written? Otherwise, you’re just talking at me and there’s really not much point OK one more time: Beane could elevate Beasley any time between now and Saturday afternoon. There is no advantage to do it sooner. Beasley will not be more motivated or more involved in the game plan if he’s elevated now vs Weds. If McKenzie is going to be out, no reason to tell the Dolphins now and not Saturday The only reason I can think of to do it now and not Saturday is to make the Dolphins prepare defensively for some of the plays we used to have in the playbook for Beasley, that got taken out. That would be a good thing for us, just as making us prepare for 2 QBs is a good thing for them
  12. I can’t imagine throwing a football with a broken pinky, but evidently Aaron Rodgers managed with a broken thumb? The things these guys do to get out there Agree with you that “no throwing during media portion of practice” could be a smokescreen That the game day active roster is 46 players, 48 provided at least 8 OLmen are active?
  13. Fine “does not involve the QB as an option to carry the ball”, does that help? The point is the OP to which I was responding indicated an RPO could not be run effectively if the QB is not a proficient runner. But they can. https://footballadvantage.com/rpo-football/ They just gain another dimension when the QB can also run,
  14. Good question, and I’m really not sure at this point Dodson and Matakevich are core ST’ers I think right now Klein would be the guy who comes in if we play a base D, but it might be Dodson Anyone got the code here?
  15. Just a little note that the section the reporters watched featured Tim Settle being attended by trainers and helped off - yet he isn’t listed as limited. So I don’t think one should rely 100% on what the reporters see as gospel. They’re good at reporting what they see, but players do spend more time getting treatments then come out and join practice. The Bills have also reported hammies and groin injuries that have not caused players to lose time as well as hammies that have kept players out 3 weeks. So I’d say we don’t know which this is, at this point. As far as early Bease elevation “tipping a hand”, I feel that I’ve spelled out why I think that and with all respect, you’re doing the “lalalal not listening” thing, so I’m out. I”ll just point out once again that there is a large vocabulary of plays that Beasley used to run, that got taken out of the Bills playbook early in this season. There are also a number of plays McKenzie runs that Beasley really can’t at this point - but Shakir could theoretically manage most of those and Hines many of the rest What does “handshake work” mean? I’ve never heard that term Says he was not seen throwing Are they talking literally, handshakes, like Josh Allen’s handshakes with his crew?
  16. Because it's "tipping your hand" offensively as to what game plan intentions may be First of all...I don't think we even know yet that McK DNP'd. He wasn't out there during the media portion of practice, but it's not unprecedented for players the media didn't see to be listed as DNP Do you really think that players on the PS aren't "involved and active 100%" without being officially elevated, especially if they know they're in the game plan? Flip it around...even if this move is required, why does the GM make it now and not Saturday? Why tip off the Dolphins that maybe McKenzie's injury is significant and he'll be inactive? Why not leave them guessing?
  17. It was a joke. But the Bills actually did put him in at DB during the season finale against the Jets in 2019. And Cheetah "warned" the Bills to "warm up those hamstrings" while McK is one of the players on the team who would have a shot to run with him I get it, a joke ya gotta explain aint funny
  18. Good points but one caveat on the last one: RPO in the original sense "run pass option" need not involve the QB, correct? It technically just involves a running back and a passing threat I think you're talking about a so called "triple option" or "triple threat" RPO, where the QB can either hand off, pass, or keep it himself and run (which does indeed require a mobile QB who presents a run threat. Sounds like he must have injured his hammy during practice yesterday. Sucks that we might not have him available as an emergency DB. The thing is, Beane had no need to make this move today. He could make it on Saturday. That's why I think it may be strategic.
  19. Might listen to what one of the players has to say
  20. The small part that the media saw, anyway. We'll see. From yesterday. Looks like just having Hyde back on the field is a lift for the secondary's spirits
  21. Not liking this news at all. Tim Settle has been a sneaky good DLman. A stout DL generating pressure up the middle is one reason for improved pass rush results this season, and now we're down 2 guys. Also McKenzie from "limited" to potentially "DNP" is not a good sign. McKenzie has historically had some good games for us against Miami
  22. Big reveal: Dawkins girlfriend/mother of his children Daiyanna suffered a cardiac arrest out in California during training camp last summer I think it's reasonable to conclude that while they're back to playing football, the events of last Monday are still weighing on the backs of some players' minds
