  1. Answer to one of my questions Sean McDermott was available this afternoon about 4:30 pm If that doesn't work https://fb.watch/ieXDqBLb_G/ may do it The link on the Buffalo Bills website appears to be broken and/or the video taken down - it does need editing badly because the camera kept zooming in and out, it was rather obnoxious But here's their in-house media coverage of it, for whatever it's worth: https://www.buffalobills.com/news/top-5-takeaways-from-bills-hc-sean-mcdermott-s-season-ending-press-conference
  2. Dave Myers? Founder of the "BuiltinBuffalo" Buffalo Bills Digital Media brand. In other words, Bills fan trying to build a podcaster/social media type presence Like a lot of these guys, may have some connections with people who work for the Bills or know a few players.
  3. To me, this is (pardon my language) the Tom Brady excuse. Every other QB seeks out the opposing QB after a loss and shakes his hand and exchanges a word or two. Tom Brady apparently hates losing so much more than everyone else and is such a passionate competitor that he simply can't bring himself to do this after a loss (leading to Fitzpatrick running after him and making him shake once after he won LOL) The whole team is super-frustrated. We have OLman who I guarantee are out there after getting their knees drained and injected with cortisol every week, pumped full of Toradol. Do we think Beasley isn't frustrated? Davis? Knox? etc. But they understand that part of being a teammate is being there for your guys, and part of being an NFL player is meeting with the media. So Diggs, like Tom Brady, apparently gets a pass because he just hates losing more than anyone else that he can't stick around and shake hands and stay in the locker room and hug his teammates? When they made him a Captain? When he talked about embracing that role? I call shenanigans He isn't a fiercer competitor than Allen Or Morse for that matter though he has that 'gentlemanly' affect after the whistle The whole team hates losing
  4. "Allen struggles processing those" is a puzzling take to me. Last season, Allen seemed to be pretty good at reading zone and finding his answers. It seems to me that if he's struggling now, there must be something to be said for the concept that this year, there aren't as many answers to be found. Last season we had Beasley and Sanders, who both could pick apart zone, and we seemed able to protect enough to have Knox out on the field instead of releasing after he chips.
  5. So tell me: which games, and who on the DL was playing? Because I do think Daquon is a key player, but he isn't "the dline" either. Please keep in mind that Florio is in the business of generating clicks, and says all kinds of things, many of which do not prove out over time.
  6. Futures signings from the PS. Nothing to be too excited about, but worth noting that we offered futures contracts to WR Dezmon Patmon (former Colt PS guy who bumped Tanner Gentry at the end of the season) and to KeeSean Johnson and both accepted; also offered contracts to both Eli Ankou and Brandin Bryant at DT. Oh, and Barkley Yeah, that's gonna be interesting to see what kind of interest his agent drums up for him.
  7. I'm unclear on Phillips. He can be awesome, but he can also Leave Home pursuing pass pressure and leave gaps in run D, or pull stupid stunts like chasing around the backfield like a chicken and hurting himself falling down.
  8. I'd be OK if he drafted an OL who could protect Josh instead of Boogie Basham.
  9. You are stating an Eternal Mystery of Bills Football to which we would all like to know the answer. Next question why do Beane and McDermott place low value on improving the OL, by draft or FA?
  10. He got 10 targets By the way there's this:
  11. Chase gets the ball because if you double up and clamp down on Chase, there's Higgins and Boyd. When they hurt you enough, Chase gets his shot. Hill gets the ball because if you double up and clamp down on Hill, there's Waddle There's been discussion on this, but Kelce gets the ball because if teams take him away (and it's hard to take away a fast, nimble route runner who is 6'5" and 256 lbs), then the Chiefs have a dangerous run game with Pacheco and Smith-Schuster has been a quite respectable #2 with close to 1000 yds (933) and a 77.2% catch %. Jefferson is more of a situation towards Diggs - he's overwhelmingly the best receiver on the team, and it's a tall order because he's young and fast and able to pull in those contested balls, but if another team succeeds in taking him away one of two things happen: either Osborn and Thielen step up and take over the game, OR the Vikes lose Diggs really needs to sit down with someone - his WR coach, Josh, Beasley, someone - and look at the plays and understand that when he thinks he's open, maybe he's really not open at the time when Josh needs to throw. Or maybe he could look at plays and figure out how he should be running his route differently to get open at the right time, or give input in play design that he thinks would get him open better. But Twitter is NOT the way.
  12. Yeah, we're pretty much aligned. Though, as soon as a player starts yelling into air on the sideline rather than talking to a teammate or coach, I think that's pretty much the Universal Signal for "Team Has Already Lost, No Comeback Possible", so there's that. But I can understand venting frustration on the sideline, throwing a helmet or yelling - it's not constructive, but it's going to happen. But the rest - yeah.
  13. I may agree, I may not agree, but say more No, I'd rather he not accept losing and go ahead and be mad about it, but don't act like a toddler "Imma take my Ball and Go Home". He's part of a team. He's a captain on the team. He's supposed to be a leader. Lead.
  14. That's pretty much where I am. We don't want him to be OK with losing, or OK with play that's not up to their standard. But he's a Captain, and wants to present himself as a leader on the team. He can be not-OK with losing and not-OK with play that's not up to their standard while being there in the locker room and there for his teammates, and dealing with any of his issues in house.
  15. I think you want to have a line that can taking the field (even if you want to improve it) before hitting FA then the draft. IMHO Boettger coming off an injury should be pretty cheap, though with him being inactive I don't know how they see him. I don't remember Lee Smith being a "whipping boy" here?
  16. You know I watch Kittle for SF, Kelce for KC, and even Goeddert for Philly and it's increasingly difficult for me to roll that way. Yeah, if we can't get an OL that can protect better at least get a Lee Smith type TE2 who is a mauler in pass pro and Free Knox
  17. You know, it all depends. Time was when this was said about Houston. We'll see. A lot of their secondary are FA, including both safeties Jessie Bates and Von Bell; CB Tre Flowers, and Eli Apple (heh). Their MLB Germaine Pratt. TE Hayden Hurst. Then they need to start working on a long-term contract for Joe Burrow. DJ Reader and their LT Jonah Williams are FA in 2024; Trey Hendrickson and Joe Mixon in 2025. If the Bengals put on a good showing in the AFCCG, smart teams will be trying to hire Lou Anarumo as their HC. Brian Callahan (their OC) is already interviewing for the Colts HC position. QB coach Dan Pitcher has been mentioned as a strong candidate for the Chargers open OC position. Yes, they look like they're in a good situation right now, and probably for next year, but a lot of things can happen.
  18. Sal Capaccio put up this useful color coded chart Thoughts on who you'd like back? The big decisions are Tremaine Edmunds and Jordan Poyer IMO. If we possibly can resign them, I want to. Work your magic, Beane The RFAs are all slam-dunks I think. Tyrel Dodson, Dane Jackson, and Cam Lewis all worth a qualifying offer as RFA. Bunch of guys where "it depends" on what they want. Guys I'd like to see back if their contracts are affordable include Tyler Matekavich (ST captain, especially if we move on from Taiwan Jones), Sam Martin (did well as punter), Case Keenum, and AJ Klein. Jordan Philips played well when healthy, but he appeared to impair his own health stupidly trying to extend the plays. He was overpaid for his overall contributions IMO. Shaq Lawson, I thought, played about his best football and would be worth trying to bring back - it'd depend upon what he wants. Rather than bring Saffold back, I would rather see Ike Boettger re-signed to a minimum deal if possible and look for an upgrade on OL in the draft and FA It's also time to look for a change, or at least strong competition, at RT. I think it's time to move on from Taiwan Jones, Jake Kumerow, Tommy Sweeney, most of the OL guys, Jaquan Johnson, and Dean Marlowe. Need upgrades there.
  19. I'm sorry, I can not find such a thread. There's this thread - and there's a quote from McKenzie in it - but it doesn't cover all that.
  20. Poor analogy. No fan is charged with influence and leadership in the locker room or on the Bills team. So if we do an immature thing like break our TV, it affects only us and our family/roommates. If we yell and sulk and storm out of the house, thus upsetting said family and maybe not being there for family members or things we ought to be there for, yeah I would say that's immature and self-centered.
  21. No, a trade normally increases dead cap by accelerating unamortized signing bonus into the trade season. Quick primer: a player's yearly cap hit consists of salary and bonuses (workout bonus, per game roster bonus, achievement bonuses), and signing bonus/option bonuses which are paid up front, but for cap purposes, amortized (divided into equal chunks assigned to each year of a contract). When a player is traded, his SALARY and BONUSES (money yet to be paid) go with the trade, but the un-amortized portion of the signing and option bonuses get amortized together and charged to the trade year's cap. Take a look at Stefon's contract https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/buffalo-bills/stefon-diggs-16872/ https://overthecap.com/player/stefon-diggs/3994 (both sites have pluses and minuses) Diggs is due a "moderate" $7.9M salary this year, and counts against the cap for $20.25M due to this year's share of his various amortized bonuses. But, if he's cut, that cap hit becomes $45M due to all the amortized chunks of bonus accelerating into this year. If he's traded, the trade partner picks up his $8M salary, but we keep all the bonuses that are already payed, so cap hit of $37M. Because at the point where Allen had to decide (quickly) Diggs was not open and had a safety over him. Sure he got open - but if Allen had held the ball that long, he would have been sacked. Where did you get the details about what he was mad about? Is there an interview with McKenzie up somewhere?
  22. Once again: He's not going to get traded with the dead cap hit we'd take. Doesn't matter who we get, no way we can lose our best offensive skill player next to Allen AND absorb a $33M+ cap hit. His choices are maximize his value on this team and when he becomes tradeable OR Sulk, and damage his value both for commercial endorsements and as an NFL WR
