  1. Thanks, good to know. I sit corrected. But that isn't what's happened here, AFAIK, right?
  2. Actually it was the civil suit filed by the girl's grandstanding "try this in the court of public opinion" lawyer which caused this to blow up. And he's making it clear that he's not going away. I'm outta here now
  3. Under law, there's no such thing as "proved innocent". For the sake of everyone who might face a false accusation, there really should be, but "not guilty" or "no case" is not the same as "proved innocent" In Araiza's situation, the prosecutor is saying they could not pursue criminal charges where the standard is "beyond a reasonable doubt", because there is evidence Araiza had left the party long before the alleged rape and that there is not evidence of unconsensual sex in the videos they have. These things create legitimate reasonable doubt. The accuser's lawyer is saying the evidence for Araiza having left is the statement of one of Araiza's friends, and that in the pretext call Araiza didn't speak as though he'd left the party. The plaintiff's lawyer is making it pretty clear they intend to pursue the civil suit where the standard is "more likely than not", so this isn't over. There's someone on this board who had the goal of a professional sport career at one time. they told me they just shot out of situations like that party, because of the potential for reputation-busting trouble. That's one way to look at it, another way is that we all can make our own luck to some degree.
  4. I get it that you're upset, and to a certain extent I sympathize - obviously if the released information is vetted, Araiza has suffered serious and unjustified damages to his personal reputation and career. On the other hand, would you honestly consider the allegations in the civil lawsuit (still filed against him) to be "slightest indication of adversity"? I wouldn't, and I would have to disagree with you if you do. But yes, the NFL cares about money and its public image, and that goes for all 32 NFL teams as well. Correct.
  5. I don't want to re-hash that long closed thread, but in California, apparently having a reasonable basis to believe someone is >18 is a legal defense.
  6. I don't know how old you are or what kind of employment you've had, but I'm guessing pretty young an/or pretty limited. "Due process" is for courts Maybe for a few professions, like police officers, with powerful unions behind them, have a process around firing a union member What we have in the NFL is "employment at will". The team can release any player, at any time, for any reason. The league has clause in their CBA about not engaging in "conduct detrimental to the league", which is nice and vague and can be stretched in 100 directions. They drafted him because they thought he had talent and could help the team, despite ?? about his holding skills. They released him because he'd become a focal point for controversy, and the media shitstorm was going to be a massive distraction for the team. That falls under "conduct detrimental". They had no process which they were mandated to follow and didn't.
  7. The thing about KC's ranking is that their best receiver is not a WR but a TE The Bills would like to move in the direction of one of our top 3 WR being a TE I believe. That's what the draft implies.
  8. I was open for it, fair bust Though speaking of bust - and I'm 100% NOT "what you see on social media is what a person is", but still - if I had a daughter who just broke up with the famous and wealthy athlete she's been "living the glamorous life" with for 6 years since she graduated college - I would want her to work on building her own independent life right now, not doing stuff that looks like advertising for her next dose of sugar. Build her Pilates studio, get a job, pursue an advanced degree, spend 6 months on a church mission trip in Guyana, Whatever - just figure out who she is and what she wants to do on her own.
  9. Nah. I just use Google. "Instagram Rachel Bush" will do it. I was curious before last season when folks posted some tweets of hers that were pretty much threatening to put the team on "blast" if they didn't negotiate Poyer's contract Right Now (fortunately saner heads prevailed) I used to follow a lot of players and their WAG on Instagram though, so I know what to search for. (I gave it up and deleted my accounts early in the Panini) To be fair, from what was posted elsewhere that was evidently a friend's caption (Google), not hers. But still, along with the "Girls" post, Major Cringe.
  10. Pretty sure the guy next to Eric Wood is Assistant GM Brian Gaine No clue on the guy to Beane's R or the guy next to Allen
  11. Meaning no criticism because I don't think she tried that hard to build an Instagram following, but would you call her an Instagram star? Rachel Bush is an Instagram star. She's got 4.1M followers. Brittany Williams has 174,000 followers, about 20% of Josh Allen's 1M followers. Allen posts very little on Instagram Would you call that "star"? Asking honestly, I'm not that "up" on the whole social media thing. Obviously I'd agree about the coattails and guess that most of the 174,000 followers she has are looking for little glimpses of Allen's home life and will slide off now that they've split. I mean, their dog has like 14,000 followers.
  12. Looks like perhaps Eric Wood was hosting
  13. I think this is exactly what they plan to do
  14. "The Gentleman's Playbook" is the business name of a custom menswear designer named Tom Marchitelli. Functionally, I think he IS a haberdasher. Also apparently charges $3000-$5000 + per suit, probably charged more for these since they were 2 week rush jobs Perhaps now that Josh isn't paying for his GF's designer wardrobe he feels he can spend a bit more on himself
  15. LOL like it better in this pic Also like the green suit better in this pic Well, he did win the "Iron Bills" trophy from Eric Ciano - I'm not sure exactly what it's for, something about best off season fitness program by some metric.
  16. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to put you on the defensive. And it's becoming so common I don't know if it's something worthwhile asking folks to look out for To me there are 3 clues: 1) news organization I've never heard of, "bolavip US" 2) non-idiomatic English 3) all the information provided references other sources I don't like to see "a bird trying to fly on another bird's wings" so I'll look for the original source vs propagating what I see as a copycatter This could entirely be a "me problem" though, so please don't feel you must defend yourself, it's not my intention to attack or criticize you - just to point out what I think is going on, that may hurt the journalists who actually dig up information and attend press conferences and break stories.
  17. It's fully guaranteed, so they ain't gonna cut Big Ed. It'd be tough to get full value on a trade, because it's a 1 yr rental on a big contract. So my feeling is yeah, they're fully committed for 2023 because they'll get more if they use him for a year and then manage a comp pick if they don't want to extend him.
  18. TBN article about the fashion designer responsible for this https://buffalonews.com/sports/bills/designer-tom-marchitelli-josh-allen-kentucky-derby-suits-viral/article_d12a2e9a-ec69-11ed-864f-4be63f274610.html Apparently he makes suits for Jordan Poyer among others. So maybe we'll be seeing Josh changing up his style this fall.
  19. Good grief Some ladies are not OK with the look: This one is more sedate, but obviously getting that perfect haircut for red carpet events is no longer on his to-do list ----- or, someone in his household's to-do list for him PS Mahomes right behind with the suit shenanigans
  20. Hmmmm. Uncertain, but a valid and plausible response.
  21. I don't think this is correct. Allen has missed game time for 2 injuries: 1) UCL injury as rookie in 2018 - helmet to elbow in pocket. Missed 4 games 2) concussion due to hit while running - Sept 2019. out for the game. did not miss more than 1 game, but that may be luck So of the game-time-lost injury, 1 was in pocket, 1 was outside pocket. 50-50. Allen has had other injuries but has not missed game time: 1) UCL tear 2022. No missed time but admitted after season it was a tear and it affected his throwing motion. Hit was in pocket 2) Turf toe 2021. While running 3) Knee injury 2020. While running; corkscrewed into the ground by Joey Bosa while trying to evade a tackle outside pocket. 4) "shoulder injury" 2020 trying to throw while being tackled vs. Raiders; outside pocket, trying to extend play. No time missed but quality of his play declined for about 4 weeks, and he was seen wearing a "linebacker brace" then tape on his shoulder. I believe that would be 3 injuries outside the pocket (75%), 1 injury inside the pocket; if you want to go by "while running vs while throwing", again 50-50. Fortunately he didn't miss time for these injuries but his abilities as a QB were impacted by at least 2 of them. Our new WR Harty missed most of last season with a turf toe so those can be serious, and there's an element of luck that the knee injury was minor In addition, a character in a book I like has a quote "no one told me my body would add up all the injuries and bruises I took in my 20s and send me a bill in my 30s". It's not just the reported injuries or observed injuries that are of concern; it's all the contusions and bruises and strains and minor sprains that add up over time. To maintain his efficiency as a QB over a long season, Allen has got to be smarter about how he runs (Slide! Get out of bounds!) and how he extends plays. If nothing else, some of his worst strip-sacks leading to points for the other team have been the result of trying too hard to extend plays. Check it down, throw it away, live to play another down. That's sort of like Willie Sutton's alleged answer when he was asked why he robs banks, isn't it? "That's where the money is" The vast majority of QBs spend most of their time in the pocket. Anyway, I'm 100% with Gunnerbill on this: to reduce the wear and tear on Allen, he needs better protection first and foremost. Ba da BING, @Westside for the win Beane has been stockpiling guys with YAC potential. Throw the ball to them and let them earn their salt. And, while we're at it, run if you wanna run, Josh, just SLIDE. What is your evidence for this? Or, while we're at it, for the notion that Allen needs a half-second longer than Burrow or Mahomes?
  22. Just a little point that this is an article that re-hashes other articles without new information. It's based on a 4-18 press conference with Allen https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/bills/2023/04/18/bills-qb-josh-allen-acknowledges-need-change-his-style-play/11688288002/ and Beane's 5-4 appearance on the Jim Rome show as quoted on Pro Football Talk https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2023/05/04/brandon-beane-glad-josh-allen-plans-to-be-a-little-bit-smarter-when-running-this-season/ What's my point, I suppose I don't really have one, but with a lot of news organizations laying off reporters and journalists who have worked hard in the industry for years, I guess I just want to say "be aware" if you're giving clicks to a site that might be parasiting off other folk's work. I dont' think it's plagiarism, they do identify the original sources of the info. But perhaps consider to give your clicks to the original journalists, or to local Buffalo journalists who actually attend the pressers etc. Well, also it's got some very peculiar English usage, as though it's written by someone who isn't proficient.
  23. I Hear You. A more recent example was releasing Cole Beasley and believing some combo of Crowder, McKenzie, and/or 5th round pick Shakir could take his place. Crowder had played the role with the Jets, McKenzie had looked very good as an injury fill-in, so it should have worked OK. To be fair, the options got thinner when Crowder broke his leg. But, in this instance, the Bills appear to have allowed even more options: Klein, who played MLB in Carolina and filled-in here. Dodson, who has played MLB as a fill-in here. Last year's 3rd round pick Bernard. This year's 3rd round pick Williams. and late round pick Spector as the "dark horse". It's worth noting that McDermott managed to achieve #18 D on points in 2017 with Preston Brown (MLB), Ramon Humber, and Zo Alexander as his linebackers
  24. If Isaiah Simmons is the answer, what was the question?
