Everyone knows Daboll was looking to move on from his current team - as a HC. It's entirely plausible that there was conflict with McDermott - McDermott pretty much made that clear in pressers at times. I believe at the time this came out, an NFL executive was quoted as saying "that's not uncommon". When it shows up as part of a recruiting pitch made to a HC candidate as part of a lawsuit about "sham" interviews, why do you find it credible as evidence that Daboll was actually looking to make a lateral move? It's not that the director of pro personnel wouldn't be plugged in and have sources, it's the context of what was said when and to whom. Edit: to anyone sensible and wanting actual discussion to whom this isn't clear: recruiters can be known to play a little fast and loose with the truth in the cause of landing their guy. If McDonnell, the Giants co-director of player personnel (not director of personnel) was trying to persuade Flores to come on a sham interview for HC thus helping them look like they're seriously considering several minority candidates (but Flores isn't someone they actually would hire), McDonnell can say what he likes because he stands ZERO chance of being asked to deliver on those "mights" about recruiting Daboll as Flores OC. And even if they were serious about considering Flores - "might be interested" "might be able to get out" is hardly definitive proof that Daboll was seriously looking at lateral positions. And McDonnell is well protected by all those "mights": "Never said he was looking for a lateral move, only thought he MIGHT be, seems he wasn't."

I know what he said. My point is Wawrow moved on because he wanted to. That thread was nothing particularly abusive of him or out of the way, and I’d know, for reals.

1) Diggs quoted someone else's Tweet or Insta verbatim 2) I would take McKenzie's word that when Diggs posts on social media, don't take it seriously, he posts all kinds of stuff. Same kind who goes by the screen name "Einstein" - A Genius in France a la Weird Al!

Posters didn't "beat Wawrow off the board". Posters raised the legit question why make the tweet he did, if he wasn't going to spill the tea? It seems like LAMP behavior. Wawrow took his ball and went home in response. Believe me, it was featherweight in comparison to some of the debates he's been in around here. When it comes to a battle of wits (and words) he is hardly un-armed. Edit: to be clear, I wish Wawrow were still around, and I wish he had "spilt the tea", but it's his choice both ways.

It was said (one of the NFL insiders, probably getting his info from Bakari who got it from Diggs) to involve Beane, McDermott, Diggs, and Henry (WR coach) - NOT Dorsey. Henry makes sense because the position coach always wants to be involved to run interference for or protect "his guy" meeting with the HC, and be in the loop. Dorsey not being involved if the beef involved the offense as a whole, makes no sense at all - if true, it's Not Good. If I were to speculate, my speculation is that it involved beef on both sides. I think McDermott has beefs about how Diggs has handled himself on the sidelines and in the locker room at times during and after some games. I think Diggs may have beefs about lack of communication from McDermott about what will be done differently this season to achieve a different outcome, or possibly input about what he thinks should be done differently. All these guys have egos, as Darryl Talley said "if you don't have an ego you have no business on the field", so it's not surprised that things could get kind of loud. Oh, just tell us....some of us don't follow Twitter enough to see what he "likes"

It's heading into the deepest lull of the off season. Cowherd and Schein have to get all fluffed up about something. Especially if you divorce the "very concerned" comment from the context that it was a direct response to a reporter asking him a direct question "how concerned are you....." it's good fluffing material.

How was this known? It was alleged in Brian Flores lawsuit against the league for racist HC hiring that "Ironically, during their January 11, 2022, text exchange, Mr. McDonnell also suggested that if Mr. Flores were hired as the Giants Head Coach, Brian Daboll might be interested in leaving Buffalo to serve as his Offensive Coordinator (“Heard Daboll isn’t happy with Sean [McDermott] in Buffalo . . . might be able to get of if he doesn’t get a head job. . . thoughts?'”). Got anything else? McDonnell is then Giants co-director of player personnel. "Might be interested". "Might be able to get out" "heard he isn't happy..." isn't exactly definitive. Flores alleges that the Giants engaged in a sham interview where they intended all along to hire Daboll, so make of that what you will. Companies recruiting a guy have been known to put all sorts of pitches out there. If they really don't intend to hire, they can say whatever, because they won't be asked to deliver. I'm sure it's true that there was friction between Daboll and McDermott. McDermott wasn't quiet about wanting more run game and less wear and tear on Josh Allen. I'm sure it was brought up in private 10x for every 1-2 times it made it to McDermott's post-game pressers. Whether that friction was anything out of the ordinary that would have led to taking a lateral move, I can't tell. Nor can anyone; Daboll DID get a HC job.

Right, but that's fan opinion. Is it true, is it not true? The fans on this board and the WGR call-ins don't know. There's probably a certain element of truth in that pro football is a performance-based business. While I loved what Ty Dunne wrote while he was with TBN, it should be noted that he's now trying to make a living now with his own subscription website. And one way to solicit subscriptions is to generate controversy and clicks. Towards that end, he initially featured disgruntled former Bills director of player personnel Jim Monos in a bunch of his early podcasts and writings. Just bear in mind that generating controversy and clicks is how he has to do business now. I think it's notable that, regarding accountability, former Bill 'Zo Alexander said basically, that for certain, "the players know...the players will handle it." I think a person can second-guess the apparent decision to not throw some players or coaches under the bus to the whole team, or take more blame himself in a different way. It's seldom been McDermott's MO to throw someone under the bus publicly. I don't think Heath Farwell left voluntarily. I think he was "voluntold". Perhaps Farwell should have spent less time arguing for a squib kick with McDermott and more time getting his people lined up? I'm quite certain McDermott had input into the final defensive play calls. There were a number of other players who the team quietly moved on from, including Levi Wallace. Wallace, in case one missed it, basically admitted in an interview after joining the Pittsburgh Steelers that he had lined up out of position and didn't use his usual cues of looking to one of the safeties to check where he should align. I think if you look around the league, McDermott has not cycled through an unusual number of assistant coaches. It's hardly news that people in the organization would voice displeasure towards the HC after a dispiriting loss.

If you're correct, then I find it problematic that the meetings were evidently between Beane, McDermott, Adam Henry, and Diggs. That would not be healthy.

It varies according to what affords you amusement and your personal self-restraint to not get "sucked in". I typically come here for football discussion, so missing the trite and repetitive opinions of a few folks takes little away from me. On the chance they say something football relevant and insightful, someone will undoubtedly quote it so I won't miss it. And I'm far less likely to get "sucked in".

I personally find that the quality of the board is enhanced, not diminished, by the judicious use of the "ignore" feature. Just sayin'.

That's actually pretty much one interpretation of what "NostraIsaiah" said. My take homes: 1) Don't take anything Diggs puts on social media too seriously, it's just "Stef being Stef" 2) If he actually says it in person, whether on a show or in an interview or in the Bills facility, he means it 3) Complete respect for Diggs play on the field 4) What he says on the sidelines (presumably in the locker room or meetings), sometimes he's just "getting it off his chest"; 80-90% of the time he might have a good point but 10-20% of the time he's "out there" (trippin) in his viewpoint and needs to be reined in. "We let him talk, but not too much"

Whatever one thinks about McKenzie as a WR, it seems pretty clear that he had become fairly tight with Diggs - would sit on the bench with him during games at times, said on Monday that he talked to Diggs after the Cincy playoff game.

The "you'd be surprised" comment was in response to this from Cover1's Aaron Quinn, in case anyone needs context. Good question: My guess would be McDermott, Beane, the WR coach, and Diggs were in a meeting where things got heated. McDermott may have said "We need to take a break. Let's step away, and we'll get back to this later" McDermott is thinking "step away from the meeting, see you at practice" Diggs is thinking "step away from the facility, go be in my own space doing my own thing" McDermott is told right before his presser that Diggs left the building and told someone he wasn't practicing today on the way out. McDermott is "very concerned" because that's not what he expected to happen; maybe Stef is more riled up or there are bigger problems than he thought and now he's got a PR problem with the 89 guys who are there. Bakari alerts on it and decides he needs to step in and earn his pay and get things settled down, so the comment works. Diggs talks some more, It all gets worked out (for now) and McDermott takes the fall for what happened. He's speaking his truth - he did say let's take a break and step away. He's just not speaking the whole truth that Diggs may have put a different spin on it than he intended, or that he may have excused Diggs from practice retroactively.

Now I feel I must apologize. My college philosophy class was ... a difficult experience for me. I have not, the philosophic mind.
