  1. An injury settlement only makes sense if the actual duration of the injury recovery and rehab is shorter than the season. It wasn't disclosed what Davidson's injury was except "knee". If he had an ACL injury, the recovery + rehab would be longer than the season, so no point to an injury settlement
  2. https://overthecap.com/what-exactly-are-injury-settlements
  3. Maybe he doesn't want to coach?
  4. Not quite...it's the term of the settlement, plus 6 weeks. Let's say he has a UCL injury estimated to require 5 weeks to heal. As I understand it, he gets a 4 week settlement (because preseason isn't paid), and the Bills can sign him 6 weeks AFTER the those 4 weeks, in other words, Week 10. Again, Nope. Length of the injury settlement, PLUS 6 weeks. He can sign with any other team immediately.
  5. C'mon Man. Where has he said this? He said he doesn't like to "overwatch" film or get "too into it" or something like that. There's a world of difference between something to the effect of "I'm not obsessive compulsive about watching film every minute I get" and "I don't watch film". And Allen gave a reason for what he said - that teams play the Bills differently than what they put on film. Edit: my best try at a transcript here
  6. Who is "they" and where has it been said that Josh is "lazy"?
  7. I thought Allen, Darnold, Kyle Allen, Burrow etc always worked with Palmer through his company, QB Summit. Never heard of "Exos". Watch the video for yourself if you like. Palmer talks a bit about how he works year-round now, and how XFL work fits in with the work he was already doing.
  8. I'm just really puzzled by where this idea that 2021 is the last time Josh worked with Jordan Palmer came from. There's a One Bills Live piece with Jordan Palmer https://www.buffalobills.com/video/one-bills-live-jordan-palmer-on-working-with-josh-and-kyle-allen Palmer talks about how the new way of thinking is that he's working with his guys year-round to help them maintain their technique, that Monday and Tuesday he's on zoom with up to 30 guys (I would assume Josh is a priority client) watching game tape to break down their mechanics. A bit later (5:40 in) he talks about how he uses side by side video from the off-season and from the game to highlight how their mechanics were at their best and what was off. About 2:30 in, Brown asks "in Josh worked with you this off season, did he have to change his regime with the UCL injury and take maybe a couple extra weeks?". Jordan talks about how guys who are starters, playing in January, and who have "complete ownership of their stroke" (like Josh) "start a lot later" in the off-season and take more time off, and that recovery is as valuable for him now as extra work used to be (3:30 in) Anyway, throughout the whole thing all 3 seem to be working from the understanding that Josh is still working with Palmer every off season, including this past off-season, although since he's now "playing in January" and plays a very physical style, he needs more time to recover and starts later. So I'm really puzzled where this idea came from that after 2021 when he got his big contract, he stopped working with Palmer and other off-season team. I don't think Josh said "rest his body" was all he was going to do all off season, I do think he said that's what he'd do to start. It's pretty clear Palmer thinks he worked with Josh during the off-season!! By the way, Jordan states that Josh's UCL this past season was worse than the injury his rookie year where he missed 5 weeks (4 games + bye) and his improved mechanics helped him play through it.
  9. No disrespect taken. I understand why you take it that way. I think we should all be aware that great QB spend free time doing other things - Brady and Rodgers both golf, it was clear from the Superbowl party that wasn't the first time Stafford had alcohol cross his little lips. Young healthy millionaire athletes have a right to have fun. What I'm in response to, is really the stuff that's been showing up in some of the other threads, the Pat McAfee and Jordan Palmer threads - that Josh has made a "seismic change" to his diet and lifestyle by ditching his "partygirl" galpal Britt, he's completely focused on football now etc etc etc. My point really wasn't to point a finger at Josh for getting drunk and golfing, I think that's pretty normal wealthy young athlete behavior. My point is that the storyline Josh has made huge changes to his diet and workout and lifestyle, isn't a full picture either. There's some "spin" (I know, Alert the Media, a PR piece made by the Bills and a podcast their employees host involves "spin") Both are pictures with some truth. The full picture, has to reflect both.
  10. He has always talked about lifting weights for his lower body. I'm not sure where this "Josh doesn't lift" thing comes from. He says he works on being "strong but flexible" in his upper body so he doesn't do upper body lifts. That's not quite the same as "get by on farm strength". For the record, Brady was public about not lifting weights but working to maintain flexibility with strength. I'm not sure what all that entails but I think it means kettleballs, elastic bands, and so forth. I know we got some guys here who do personal training, maybe they will step up and educate me.
  11. I'm a little confused here. It's a "last chance" for the Bills because Milano is 29, Tre is 28, Dawkins is 29, Diggs is 29, Morse is 31....but the Bengals are young with Reader at 29, Hendrickson 28, Hilton 28, Awuzie is 28, Hill is 28, Hubbard is 28, La'el Collins is 30, Boyd is 29, Karras is 30? I take your point that Von is 34 and Poyer and Hyde are 32, and how much longer do they have ? But the rest puzzles me.
  12. Joy Taylor. Shady had some sense too. The rest of it is just "well, all these other teams have good QB and tried to improve during the off season". But doesn't every team try to do that every off season? The question is always, how will the improvements hold up on the field? I think the Jags could do something. Lawrence looked like he took a jump last year, they now have a Superbowl winning coach who knows something, the team improved to a winning record last season and made the playoffs. They could be where the Bills were in 2019. They've been able to draft high and add talent, and sign some decent pieces in FA. Their OL situation is a question mark, losing Juwaan Taylor to the Chiefs; their WR room doesn't strike me as elite. The Jets have a really really good defense, a talented WR1, and added a great RB. I think their OL and their WR depth are questions - basically there's this paradox where Rodgers complained about the WR talent GB gave him then moved to NYJ and immediately asked that all these WR he complained about be signed. Rodgers when he's "on" is dangerous. But sometimes when you try to buy an elite team like that it works, and sometimes it fizzles (see Wilson, Russell) Fundamentally, though, I think a lot of these news pundits have it mixed between "elite" and "potential".
  13. There's a very curated and polished edition of Josh presented in the Bills PR pieces like "Beyond Blue and Red". And I think that's part of a true picture. Josh probably is a genuine guy who understands that kids idolize him and that his 5 second signing may give them lasting positive memories. But this is part of a true picture too - -Josh who played a bunch of fancy golf courses this off season -who makes silly claims when drunk about being the "best athlete on the planet" -who can't stand to talk about getting embarrassed at a game 2x immediately afterwards (by his buddy's wife) and shuts that down hard -who is getting stupid drunk leaving him badly hungover going into a day off during preseason -who admits he doesn't like to get too into watching film on upcoming opponents - maybe he has a good reason, and maybe he still watches enough. Or maybe not.
  14. Now I'm so confused...when exactly do teams have to be under the cap for the 53 man roster, plus IR plus PS plus any dead cap? And what is seen as KC's strategy if they CAN'T get a cap-reducing extension done with Jones?
  15. If anyone wants a Dolphins roster to go through position by position, this might help https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/who-made-the-dolphins-initial-2023-53-man-roster-a-breakdown-of-each-position/ar-AA1fXtkG Football is a team game. Ultimately what matters most isn't how good the individuals are, but how well they play as a team.
  16. Hey, Zero, was hoping you'd weigh in. What can you tell us about the negotiations with Chris Jones, and the 6 game suspension of DE Charles Omenihu? Glad to here a good word for your former PS QB, now ours - I think his name may be spelled Buechele?
  17. Actually in the One Bills Drive piece with Jordan, Jordan says he's known Kyle since Kyle was in high school. So even longer than he's been working with Josh.
  18. Well, since we're all about the Josh podcasts right now Kyle says Josh brought him to Buffalo and thanks him. They talk a lot about golf. Ask Josh to list all the golf courses he's played over the off-season. About 10 minutes in, Kyle says the other day (on an off day) he saw Josh "about as hung over as I've ever seen a human being" walking around with a bottle of pedialyte and a personal bottle of oxygen (!!!!). Apparently the previous night, in the course of getting smashed, Josh stated he was "the best athlete on the planet" and promptly got beaten at pickleball twice by Matt Barkley's wife. Josh did NOT like the story about being beaten at pickleball, turned off his camera, and said he was going to get upset if they kept going with that He did explain his thinking behind the "best athlete on the planet" talk, about how he feels he could have succeeded at a number of sports such as baseball, basketball, swimming (Jordan confirms, good swimmer as long as it's not the ocean because he's scared of sharks), but then goes on to talk about hockey (nope) and soccer..... Kyle: "You honestly don't sound very confident right now" 😆 (guess we can count on him a bit to keep Josh on the ground) Later in, they're doing a kind of "buddy game" where they each have to guess what the other will answer. How many yards will Josh throw for this year?Josh guesses 5281, Kyle 5241.
  19. I seem to recall a healthy dose of trepidation when we claimed McKenzie off waivers, because of his six fumbles as a rookie PR But I also recall that our receiving alternatives at the time were Zay Jones, Robert Foster, and Fat Kelvin Benjamin not to mention Andre Holmes and Deonte Thompson
  20. I thought I was saying Maddy would have had to hide her tootsies from Sexy Rexy, if he'd still been here when she was hired. No more sandals for you, Ms Glab!
  21. We got organic farmers who can speak to this more, but as far as I know organic does not mean "free of pesticides". It just means organic farmers use "natural" pesticides that are approved for organic use. Stuff like neem, nicotine, spinosad, copper sulfate, etc. These natural pesticides may be, or may not be, less toxic to people or less damaging to pollinators then the chemically produced kind. As far as I know.
  22. Pull up a chair, Old Bean, and let me tell you a story about diptheria antitoxin (once hailed as one of the "seven wonders of the world" because of how diptheria could wipe out entire families of children, with no treatment). Except then we had "Jim the Horse" and children died from tetanus-contaminated antitoxin. Thus the Biologics Control Act of 1902. Now I'd like to tell you a story about a marvelous miracle drug, sulfanilamide - first effective antibiotic against streptococcal infections. Except it was bitter, and difficult to get children to swallow. Massengill made a marvelous new palatable-to-children formulation - sweet-tasting, and raspberry flavored! 100 people were poisoned and died (many children) because that sweet-tasting solvent was diethylene glycol and toxicity testing was not required at the time. In response, the 1938 Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic (FD&C) Act, which required proof of safety before the release of a new drug, was passed. There are a lot of Federal laws that are written in blood. What, you want to depend upon the conscience, good sense, and public service of corporations? Because that worked so well before the Federal Regulations. I would really like to see research be easier to conduct. I've been looking into it because I'd like more effective pain control for my mom, and everywhere I turn, I get "we really don't have any studies on that".
  23. A lot are. A lot are deriviatives of the plant compound, modified to be more efficiently absorbed, or metabolized more slowly, or just to produce them more efficiently than they can be produced from the native plant.
  24. So if y'all haven't found it yet, check out this Cover1 piece on Kirksey. In addition to a lot of film that kind of speaks for itself, they bring up a couple points I hadn't thought of: 1) Kirksey playing coverages successfully in Lovie Smith's Tampa2 last season 2) Bills hired Joe Danna, last year's safety coach in Houston. Danna should really have the tea on what Kirksey could or couldn't do as of last year.
  25. You happen to got a linky for that one? I didn't take it that way at all. McAfee was talking a bit about the NE offense and the Colts offense with Manning, where you don't talk you just look at the defense and everybody knows how their role in the called play changes with what they see. Daboll has talked about this in the past - their offense is built on Josh and the receivers reading the defense the same way and reacting the same way. That's what Josh means when he talks about "good body language" - the receiver is using body language cues to communicate his intentions about how he's going to run his route to Josh (while simultaneously trying to be deceptive in his body language to the DBs) What I took Josh as expressing was that Kincaid has been doing this successfully in practice and in preseason, but that the regular season moves faster and defenses become harder to read, so he expects Kincaid to make mistakes early in the season. Then later in the season he'll have seen it before and he'll learn.
