Some of both? I do think the problems with the Browns start above Dorsey's level so in that sense, he's a "fall guy"
I'm pretty sure that Ken Dorsey was a main dish(ers) for Ty Dunne's "hit piece" on McDermott, with a possible side serving of Daboll. The reason I think this is partly the timing (the article came out during the bye week, 2 games after Dorsey got fired) and partly because of something John Wawrow tweeted characterizing the article as "former employee has issues with former boss" and something like "that's why a number of us are gonna sit this one out".
I think the results Joe Brady achieved the rest of 2023 and in 2024, plus Dorsey's offense with the Browns, say that Dorsey was not a "fall guy" here, and so there may be something legit in the firing in that he failed to maximize the offense given the players he had to work with.
